Viisage Technology Inc., a biometrics and facial recognition systems company based in Littleton, has won a $20 million, six-year contract with the state of Georgia to design and implement a new digital driver’s license program.

The cards will be manufactured at a central site in Georgia, which will use Viisage’s facial recognition security systems to control access to the facility.

Georgia is the 17th state to use Viisage for digital-identification document production and the sixth state to incorporate its biometric technology in driver’s licenses.

Viisage’s stock opened this morning at $4.20, down 3 cents from yesterday’s close.
