Police in the US say there is “insufficient evidence” to charge three men who were allegedly planning to assassinate Barack Obama.
The men were arrested in Denver, Colorado, in connection with drugs and weapons offences.
Sky News political editor Adam Boulton, in Denver, said one of the group is reported to have made comments alerting police to a potential assassination plot against the leader of the Democrats.

But speaking at a press conference, police said the men were drug addicts.
They said they were keeping an open mind about the investigation.
US Attorney Troy Eid said: “There is insufficient evidence that there was any kind of a plot or a threat but we’ll keep an open mind as we look.

Well, Obama has just been nominated as presidential candidate and there may be quite some, that’ll love to drive a knife through his back. I consider things a dress rehearsal for that to come. We are being sensitized for some major event in the course of American history, I smell some much gun power. The charismatic Senator from Illinois, just made history and Jessie Jackson wasn’t part of it. The man let his pettiness exclude him from history and Hillary made cock-sure her name glowed in legends.
A lot of people may be uncertain about Obama yet know, deep in their hearts, come what may, there’ll probably never be another like him. That there are interesting times ahead for America. In so many ways, I’m happy for him, happy for America… but sad. Sad because I worry. I worry for Obama’s longevity and I worry for America’s unpredictability.
Still, I pray that Obama makes it right. That America may heal itself.
