North Carolina “Involuntarily Isolating” Suspected Swine Flu Patients
State refuses to divulge details of cases

Disturbing reports have emerged that suggest North Carolina is involuntarily quarantining patients who may have the flu virus that is thought to be spreading across the U.S. and the rest of the globe.
The details appear in a report by Adam Owens of N.C. based WRAL news:
The state’s health director said Monday afternoon that there are suspected cases of swine flu in North Carolina, but declined to say how many cases or where they were located.
Dr. Jeffrey Engel said Monday evening that officials are involuntarily isolating patients who may have the virus. He declined to specifically say how many suspected cases were in the state, noting that the number is always changing, and he declined to say where they were located.
“We’re working very closely with providers, and they are investigating cases on a daily basis,” Engel said.
Investigators were gathering specimens and hope to know whether the cases are “probable” some time Tuesday and will seek confirmations by Wednesday.

Despite the fact that there have been no deaths outside Mexico, and less than 100 confirmed cases worldwide, the United Nation’s WHO has raised it’s alert to level four, the highest it has ever been, just two levels below a full scale pandemic.
Around 150 deaths in Mexico have been connected to the swine flu, but only 18 cases have been definitively linked to the virus through laboratory testing.
1600 more people have complained of flu-like symptoms since the Mexican authorities publicised their concern about the virus on April 23.
However, the number of new cases reported by Mexico’s largest government hospitals has been declining for the past three days, according to government officials, from 141 on Saturday to 119 on Sunday and 110 Monday.
Flu deaths are nothing new in the United States. The CDC estimates that about 36,000 people died of flu-related causes each year, on average, during the 1990s in the U.S.
Seasonal flu kills between 250,000 and 500,000 people globally in an average year.
Experts have said that the danger of the new flu strain – which has been misnamed “swine flu”, owing to the fact that it is a combination of pig, bird and human viruses – is that it is a primer for further mutations that humans may have no natural immunity to.

Hi…I can confirm here that MSN will work , maybe, anyway I took mine to india last year and any weird feelings I took it so i never got sick for 3 months there.
I take it here at home in OZ with any infections I can feel in my body and it usually works straightaway. So Im sure it will work on any pathogens they can make.

I am 81, and remember very well in the 1930’s when the Board of Health here in nyc would “lock people up” in their homes with a number of sicknesses, as I was a kid, I don’t remember which but the yellow signs on people’s doors is a memory I do not forget.

Quarantine is no big deal. Cruise ships have outbreaks and they quarantine the passengers in their cabins for a few days. Not fun, but it stops the spread.

I think part of the issue in this circumstance involves giving people the choice whether or not to be quarantined in their own homes. since we are being trained that the government knows and does best, the logical result would be forcibly or involuntarily quarantining people… I hope Martin takes the time to write before he turns 82

I doubt it – you can view just about the whole of France on Google Earth. Secondly, as France has an agrarian economy just about every farmer has their own collection of firearms for hunting – there’s actually a shortage of rabbit hunters because the hunters prefer deer for mounting as trophies. Thirdly, France has forgotten how members of their resistance were executed in remote lines and forests – there are monuments along every lane and in every field. Finally, the French have as much problem with Algerians in the suburbs of Paris who can’t find employment.
It would be hard to build a Fema camp in the UK – just about every bit of land has been built on or is a national park. They can’t even find the space to build new nuclear reactors or prisons.

My take on seeing all this though,

I’m 92 years old. For some fun I took my grandson’s happy pill I think it’s called Viola or something. My grandson seems to be happy when he takes the pill, he chases his wife all around the house. There was one confirmed death today, a 23 month old child. Maybe now there is time to think that maybe this could be a little more serious than some thought. I am not comfortable with the fact that they will not release the possible numbers of locations of the suspectedswine flu here in NC. I have 2 kids and I don’t want to take them anywhere near where they could be infected… I can only pray that there is a way that we can get this under control. Whether you want to believe that the pharmo drug companies released this or not, it is nothing to be taken lightly, 150 dead in mexico 2,000 more sick, and now a small child is dead… I hope that people can take this more seriously, instead of blaming the pharmo agencies.
