Obama AG Choice Advocated Censoring Internet

Get ready for a push for “reasonable” restrictions on the internet. It appears Obama’s presumptive choice for AG will be Eric Holder, a former Clinton Justice Department official. As the corporate media throws confetti and heralds the possibility of America’s first black AG, it ignores something more sinister lurking beneath the surface: in 1999, Holder advocated internet regulation. On May 28, 1999, Holder told NPR (see video below):
The court has really struck down every government effort to try to regulate it. We tried with regard to pornography. It is gonna be a difficult thing, but it seems to me that if we can come up with reasonable restrictions, reasonable regulations in how people interact on the Internet, that is something that the Supreme Court and the courts ought to favorably look at.
Holder’s frame of reference was the April 1999 Columbine High School massacre. It was said at the time that shooters Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris had learned how to construct bombs on the internet. More troubling, however, is the fact Holder was a “hate crimes” advocate.

In an op-ed at the neocon standard, the National Review, the editors predictably drag out the old false left-right paradigm and lambaste Holder as a “creature of the Left.” In an effort to portray Holder as a bad choice to fill the spot of AG in an Obama administration, they note that Holder is “excited about hate crimes” and would “burden police departments with accusations of racial profiling and the states with charges of racially skewed death-penalty enforcement.”
If an Obama administration is successful in establishing so-called “hate crimes” and this passes Supreme Court muster — and with the dinosaurs on the court, Obama may get to nominate one or two — it will not be simply guys (usually undercover cops) in white sheets fond of burning crosses that will be prosecuted, it will be critics of the government as well. Since time immemorial, governments have gone after critics first and foremost. An Obama administration will be no exception to the rule.

I already miss America. I wonder what our new constitution will read. Hopefully I’ll be somewhere else, being that the people here do nothing about this HUGE government.

what the hell is an “AG”? Good writers will spell the friggen words out first and in parens put the intitials for furthers use. I see not anywhere in this article what a friggen AG is? Hello, are these writers picked off the street or what?

They can’t regulate the internet. Too much biz is being conducted there. If they do, computer geeks — the guys who make the world go around these days — will just invent an alternative internet, an underground internet that will be better than the original.
Suppression won’t stomp out an idea. No, instead suppression will stomp out individuals who advocate the idea. And they’ll just go underground, which is where everything cool happens anyway.

I really think that Obama is going to be the same as if it was Mc Cain: 4 more years of Bush. He would’nt have been put there by the controlling power elite if he would be deviating much from what has been put into motion by Bush and Co.. He is going to toe the line.

All I want to say is that I have a strange feeling that crap is going to hit the fan this summer. It will be the beginning of the end…and perhaps we will overcome. But, we don’t have the power. Just about everyone in the USA has a water bottle in one hand and a cell phone in the other. The mass population of our country is going to go ape shit when all hell breaks loose. So, stay inside and don’t come out until the bullets stop ringing.

Shit is going to hit the fan this spring, because a whole lot of less then popular legislation is going to be passed before the end of the winter. And when the ice melts and the flowers grow the arrests will start. Of this I am absolutely sure.

Reasonable usually leads to more than just reasonable, it leads to excess… Oh, it’s a reasonable amount of loss is what they said in iraq. The weapons are precise… and yet, much colateral damage was done.
In that regard, this matter is very similar. You can’t have a perfect regulation, the best you can hope for, is for parents to watch their kids and prevent them from excessive exposure to the internet.
