Obama Calls For National Civilian Stasi
Presidential candidate wants domestic “security force” as powerful as U.S. military, columnist compares proposal to Hitler Youth

Presidential frontrunner Barack Obama has called for a “civilian national security force” as powerful as the U.S. military, comments that were ignored by the vast majority of the corporate media but compared by one journalist to the Nazi Hitler Youth.
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded,” Obama told a Colorado Springs audience earlier this month.
World Net Daily editor Joseph Farah asked if he was the only journalist in America who found Obama’s statement troubling.

“If we’re going to create some kind of national police force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces, isn’t this rather a big deal?” wrote Farah.
“Are we talking about creating a police state here? The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion. Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force bigger and more expensive than that? If not, why did he say it? What did he mean?”
KnoxNews.com is seemingly the only other media outlet to express interest in exactly what Obama is proposing.
“The statement was made in the context of youth service. Is this an organization for just the youth or are adults going to participate? How does one get away from the specter of other such “youth” organizations from Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union when talking about it?” wrote Michael Silence.
Obama’s proposal smacks of an expanded version of an existing program in which hundreds of police, firefighters, paramedics and utility workers have been trained and recently dispatched as “Terrorism Liaison Officers” in Colorado, Arizona and California to watch for “suspicious activity” which is later fed into a secret government database.
It is also reminiscent of the supposedly canned 2002 Operation TIPS program, which would have turned 4 per cent of Americans into informants under the jurisdiction of the Justice Department.
TIPS lived on in other guises, such as the Highway Watch program, a $19 billion dollar Homeland Security-run project which trains truckers to watch for suspicious activity on America’s highways.
More recently, ABC News reported that “The FBI is taking cues from the CIA to recruit thousands of covert informants in the United States as part of a sprawling effort…..to aid with criminal investigations.”
Since authorities now define mundane activities like buying baby formula, beer, wearing Levi jeans, carrying identifying documents like a drivers license and traveling with women or children or mentioning the U.S. constitution as the behavior of potential terrorists, the bounty for the American Stasi to turn in political dissidents is sure to be too tempting to resist under Obama’s new program.

I couldn’t find the quote cited. Not saying he didn’t say it. It could have been an extemporaneous remark, or it could have been edited out. The text itself, with a theme of service to the state, is bad enough, but I can’t find the precise words in Farah’s quote.

I too think we need a force the size of the military. But the force should be made up of it’s ARMED CITIZENS (a well regulated militia). The main duty of this force should be to police THIS GOVERNMENT.

I’m not an Obama fan, nor do I support the initiative he was talking about. BUT, for the sake of accuracy, the “offending” comments came after this “And we’ll also grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered, and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy.”, THEN he said, without pause, the dreaded “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
Context DOES make a difference, and he was clearly talking about the Peace Corp/Foreign Service as this “civilian nation security force”. He was not implying anything like what has been implied by this post at prisonplanet, it was clearly not anything like a “nazi youth” program.
Seriously, this is where prisonplanet — which I generally agree with — falls down, and joins the ranks of Fox News and their ilk. Taking things out of context and twisting them into something completely different is a cheap trick, and is a favorite of people who care more about their agendas than the truth. Please, prisonplanet, rise above such low temptations.

So in context does he mean the Peace Corp is going to act as a civilian NATIONAL “security force”? When he say’s national, as in “nation”, does he mean domestic or is the wording purposely obscure? In defense of Prison Planet writers, you have to realize that these people rely heavily on shades of meaning, especially when introducing ideas that, if they were cleary communicated, would be immediately rejected, psychologically. They may use obscurity to override a psychological defense. That’s one of the reasons they use terms like collateral damage, instead of “dead innocent civilians and U.S. soldiers that we unintentionally killed”.

The really sad thing here is that the “program” mentioned already exists and is referred to directly in the 2nd Amendment, it is called a State Militia. Obahma obviously has limited or no knowledge of such writngs and therefore spues out ideas that have already been laid with in the foundations of this “free republic” as if they were his own, and the entertainment entombed minds of the public accepts it as such because no one, no even you, stands up and says “Hey! We already have that!” The question is, who do you know that actively participates in your State Milita? Who do you know that would participate in Obahma’s Milita? These are theones we need to be talking to and revealing the truth to.
Just a little common sense in need here, that’s all it takes to debunk the socialist ideas being presented by both canidates.

Prison planet has some good info. and bad. Thanks for pointing out the context in which this statement was made maninwarren. PP doesn’t own the 9/11 truth movement by the way. So we don’t have to believe everything you say, just because you are right about some things. Maybe you should be writing about things people can do to help themselves get through these troubling times, instead of mainly publishing articles that create fear and paranoia from out of context statements such as this article. In some ways you guys are no better than the rest of the mainstream news. In other ways, you blow them away! I say try and be more selective with your arguments and stop making mountains out of molehills.

Stan the son of man, i’m not denying that youth groups have been started by and continue to be started by the CIA, but to claim the boy scouts is a ‘CIA plot’ seems more than far fetched considering the group was started in the UK by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 many many years before the CIA and even the OSS. Even checking the Boy Scouts official history books shows that scouting groups were set up in the US as early as 1910, again at least 40 or so years before the OSS and CIA. Im not denying how harsh the new US ‘Hitler Youth’ plan is, but claiming the Boy Scouts was a CIA plot seems as i said, far fetched and alarmist. Now if we care to speculate for a minute, Lord Robert Baden Powell was without doubt a member of the British aristocracy and we all know how this sort of thing works, maybe it was started by the elite as a ‘test hitler youth’ or some kind of other program, again im just speculating. Speculating more, I find it quite plausible that the CIA may have utilised Scouting and many other youth groups throughout their treacherous history. Did your informant have anything to say about the start of the Panthers as i was under the impression their inception was a rather murky one …

Obama is the ultimate change agent. Though the faction he represents in the NWO is not as blatantly ruthless as the Neo-conservatives I feel long term(if there is one) he represents a much greater danger to the population because of his ability to con the public one last time.

Very good point there, although I wouldn’t go so far as to consider him clueless to its workings. He’s much smarter than that.. I think it’s the simple fact that his supporting public is clueless to it and he’s taking advantage of that fact by discouraging the notion that we still have ’states’ – at this point the whole ’statehood’ concept is more like a figurehead – at best, just a way for people to identify each other’s regional accents. he knows damned well what a state militia is and what it’s for – his supporters (followers? disciples?), on the other hand, don’t know crap and don’t care to know (because after all, Obama just vomits ‘change’ with every word he says…), so it’s news to them – good news, as far as they’re concerned.

I saw a one sentence Obama quote, and then bunches of people explaining what he is saying by throwing alot of oppressive totalitarian imagery, meant to scare people. I wager he is thinking along the lines of Israel or even perhaps the Native American Assembly of Warriors. Where Israel is geared to military and neighborhood immediate response, the NAAW called upon all or select with any tools for defense needed. This would include ‘Professions’ business – manufacturing – social – and medicine for example not just “Warriors”. Civil Draft? As we speak it takes an act of congress to call in needed experts and trained individuals. It didn’t use to be that way in the communities. Yell fire and everyone came running with a bucket. Makes me think of all the idiots complaining about the fires year after year in California while they stand around with empty hands and teary sobbing faces. Employers should be asking everyone why they are not requesting an LOA from their work to go out and fight for their State.

This is a very dangerous idea, with sinister implications. The constitution gives we the people the right to get rid of a government that fails to represent. It also gives us the right to bear arms, which gives us the mechanism by which to accomplich this task, should the need arise. The armed forces, which are in control of the government are not allowed to take up arms against the american citizenry, so their is not really a force the government can use against we the people should we decide to get rid of them. If the government creates a domestic force as big as the army, with the legal ability to take up arms against we the people, then they would have the means to stay in power against the will of the people. This is a very dangerous road to allow the government to go down, and must be opposed at all costs lest we lose the freedoms that so many have died to preserve.

The UK already has a rapidly growing stasi force.
-when in uniform, it should be remembered that these people are part-timers (an essential part of the plan)
-when out-of-uniform, they are actually doing their real work (for which they are carefully trained). Spying on, and monitoring, friends and neighbours. Being stasi, they are not treated with the same caution and suspicion as the real police, and can expect people to be much more ‘open’ around them.
-the UK stasi are encouraged to create regular reports on all ‘people of interest’ they notice in their off-duty hours, or regular job.
Obama or Clinton exist to implement all those police state mechanisms perfected first in the UK by Blair, and his New Labour (and ‘Common Purpose’) goons. Your republicans cannot implement the true potential of the UK police state model in the US. Only democrats can do this. You see, the police state MUST be rolled out in the name of ‘the people’. However, the perception is that the republicans only do things in the name of ‘big business’.
You have a two-party system not for choice (there is none), but so that the people will accept the required changes more easily. Anything the public should oppose, they will accept with little fuss if implemented by the party they perceive as most in favour of that kind of change.
The US will soon have a democratic president (probably Clinton, after ‘unforeseen’ problems deal with Obama). The biggest change this will bring will be an age of war-mongering beyond any ever seen before in US history. The democrats will build an alliance of iron with the new fascist forces of Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Poland), and firstly take direct control of the Middle East through an invasion of the last independent oil power there, Iran.
There is no doubt or uncertainty of this plan whatsoever. Everything that makes you think otherwise (convincing sounding rubbish about Israel or Bush) is just carefully crafted black-propaganda designed to appeal to a simplistic view of the world held by many political types.
It is true that years back, they had the hope of taking Iran via actions initiated by Bush and the neo-cons, but now they accept that patience, and correct procedure, form the only road to true success. Our actions (on this site, and thousands like it, and through the combined efforts of activists across the planet) have demonstrated this fact to them. We have won when winning was possible and relatively easy. What comes now is a billion times more difficult to stop.

I had a DREAM about this the other night…even before this CAME OUT~!!! …I was in a neighborhood with my (former “friends) and I was trying to get an old truck from one of my friends roomates……they hated me and didn’t want me to have it so they didn’t want me having it even though they were gunna through it in the junkyard…well anyways…a “national emergency” happened…a weather event…were WE had to be ’rounded up’ ….all of a sudden in my dream…(I knew what was coming) …KIDS!!!!!! teens with GUNS!!! riffles like machines guns BIG guns…came up to me two guys…they told forced me to go with them. I didn’t fight…I just went along with the insanity but I was well aware of all the obvious happenings they were pulling and what was going on. And GET THIS…!!!!! I was brought to a home a house of some sort and sat around a table with other people that were rounded up. The SOLDIER kids made me show them what was in my wallet and they taken account for everything they databased me and collected info and whated to know all about me. GUESS WHO WAS SITTING AT THE HEAD OF THE TABLE IN MY DREAM!!!!! BARACK OBAMBA!! …later in the dream I seen Barack strolling down the street with his brigade of soldier YOUNG enforcers..–it was dark night the entire dream. Like as if there were no moon sun or stars. I told me dad about this dream to and what happened in it. I can’t wait to tell him the news of Barack’s call for a Youth Brigade. weird..- aware.

As a black man myself, I must say it horrifies me to see many fellow Blacks, voting for Obama merely on the color of his skin, they dont listen to his words and hear he is just like every other politician, velvet words to hide the knife hes saving for your back.
Dont get me wrong, though Mc Cain is no better. It seems to me there is always a LACK of CHOICE in the voting ballots, and WE the PEOPLE should do something about it, while we still can. I watched the video. Out of context I don’t think so, it is what it is. National security objectives and the programs that are mentioned are two completely different things. Where is the correlation between vets helping vets and national security objectives being met. Please explain how a Civilian National Security Force helps with heath care and the environment or expanding foreign service.

Bonnster, the argument you’ll find from Obama and his policy surrogates/advisers is that all of these things are soft forms of “national security”. Personally, I find it’s a mild form of hyperbole to equate education, enviro, energy, foriegn service and peace corps with “nation security”. But, it’s stupid to think he was talking about an internal military force.
The problem with using hyperbole in political speech is that your opposition can use your selective, out-of-context quotes literally.

Would do many of the softer American’s some good to learn how to protect themselves. A security force doesn’t have to be used against the citizens or innocent victims. If most of the nation is trained and armed, then there is no tyranny, and then the message of freedom being the embodyment of self reliance will be easier to explain; and liberties easier to protect.

Well, I listened to the speech. And while there is a lot to be concerned about when dealing with Obama, I think Paul Watson stretches it a bit. Obama clearly mention in the previous context/paragraph of the speech, before he mentions a civilian nation security force.. that he is talking about doubling Americorps and Peace Corps as a way to strengthen our national security. Now that is not to say that are not held to such suspicions, since it has long been reported that the Peace Corps tends to be a C.I.A. training and recruiting ground. However, I think Watson should be a little more careful before raising the man your guns alarm.

Just as AIDS has been called by George W. Bush a “national security threat,” Obama is calling the decrepit state of the US infrastructure, the lack of opportunities for young people and the need for community involvement in education a national security threat.
His July 2 speech was about ways young people could serve their country. Surely you will agree that the military cannot build our bridges, repair our streets and keep up our parks. Surely you will agree national security as a phrase has taken on a lot of elasticity over the years.

I saw the Video and concur with others here, that what’s said by PJ c.s., about this particular speech of Obama’s, is Way off the Mark.
Some careful reading of what PJ said on his radio broadcast and compared with Obama’s political blah blah, this seems to be going on:
that apparently a leaked ‘agenda’ of the NWO is going on concerning mobilizing Youths of America in a Youth Force ‘a la’ Hitler Jugend, Red Brigade etc. and this to be in line from an Ideology ‘inspired’ by Prusian/Spartan/Hitlerian/Masonic/Satanic/Teutonic etc. example (consider this PJ’s Insider’s Information)
but is Not what Obama is proposing here
what he’s doing here in this particular Speech is Addressing this particular Agenda of Militarization of America’s Youth of the (a?) Competing Faction (in his own CFR?) with an Alternative of His Own: Organizing America’s Youth in ways akin to – the lovely – Peace Corps and the likes – and funding this with $40 an hour -.

Peace corps? Can you people even read? Osamabama is not talking about a youthful version of the peace corps, he is talking about a muslim version of the brown shirts and gestapo……….in his own words:

I would go further than that and say that he wants to create a muslim terrorist organization on a large scale right here in America. More Hezbollah than peace corps………..more Hamas than boy scouts…….more Taliban than job corps.

If it is, as long as it is well trained it would have some advantages since it is made up from local civilians from all walks of life.
The danger of course is although “not quite conscription” members would be expected to deploy “as and when” around the world (or maybe even as a local police force) into conflicts and situations they may or may not agree with. Meanwhile Uncle Tom benefits from a cut price Military Force with cut price training, often a long way short of “Regular Training”
The advantages are that members would be civilian trained in addition to any military skills they gain, they could have skills that may be far in advance of their regular force counterparts.
I am all for people being taught to “defend their country”… The concern is that America is sort of acting a little as if it is responsible for the whole world…. It’s well know that American Forces are currently at full stretch… need more and more troops just to Hold The Fort

Mr Farah is confused in that the Hitler-like organization that Obama is preposing is not the Hitler youth (Hitler Jugend) but rather the SS or Schutzstaffel (German for “Protective Squadron”), abbreviated SS. The Hitler jugend was similar to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), except while the BSA is Christian and apolitical; the Hitler Jugend was a totally political children’s Nazi indoctrination club.
The SS on the other hand was a major Nazi military organization under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. The SS quickly grew from a small paramilitary unit to an elite force that served as the Führer’s “Praetorian Guard,” the Nazi Party’s “Shield Squadron” and a force with more political power than the regular German armed forces. Built upon the Nazi racist ideology, the SS, under Heinrich Himmler’s command, was almost exclusively responsible for the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Nazis during the second world war.
Just what we need. An African/Nazi/Obama private police guard.

I am over 30 and was born here in Germany.
I grew up in a divided Germany, and know what Stasi is about.
Actually ‘our’ German Minister for internal affairs Wolfgang Schäuble (similar to a minister for Homeland Security) is putting on the thumbscrews, and wanting to design his own little 1984. All he’s missing is a terror act, but perhaps the German black parliament hasn’t pulled that stunt (yet) because the German population still remembers the Reichskristallnacht, and might get to suspicious about history repeating.
Now what Obama’s sugesting does sound like Stasi 2.0 (as we like to refer to some of Schäubles projects).
Now the Stasi was not only a child of the Gestapo and the KGB, funding ‘Civilian Operatives’ and granting them privileges, or using them via blackmail would nicely fit into the concept of absolute control (1984 again)

I am a young adult –with a strong collegiate education– and I still cannot help but think that no matter what candidate we put into office, society will progress in the same direction. It is up to the people to take to the streets and have our voices heard before any change may occur. Seriously guys, try a little investigative reporting. If you spent a few minutes with google, you’d find out that Obama is talking about his National Service initiative, which is an expansion of peaceful civilian service programs such as the Peace Corps both domestically and abroad, as a means of civically engaging the citizenry and improving foreign relations (and hence national security) through better diplomacy, instead of just military intervention. No weapons, no secret police, no nazis or brownshirts or gestapo or fascist mobs, nobody spying on their neighbors–just citizens trying to improve communities at home and abroad through service organizations. And he’s not talking about a man-for-man or dollar-for-dollar match to the armed forces, but rather a tenth the size and literally less than one hundredth of the budget! I see now with the Civilian National Security Force he will create part of the 3.5 million new “jobs”? I think it unusual that so much is focused on the politician and not the elite handlers. Why did Pelosi and Gheitner visit Rome- I know the summit in Italy- but the visit to the Vatican is not coincidental.
