Obama Science Advisor Called For “Planetary Regime” To Enforce Totalitarian Population Control Measures

In 1977 book, John Holdren advocated forced abortions, mass sterilization through food and water supply and mandatory bodily implants to prevent pregnancies

President Obama’s top science and technology advisor John P. Holdren co-authored a 1977 book in which he advocated the formation of a “planetary regime” that would use a “global police force” to enforce totalitarian measures of population control, including forced abortions, mass sterilization programs conducted via the food and water supply, as well as mandatory bodily implants that would prevent couples from having children.

The concepts outlined in Holdren’s 1977 book Ecoscience, which he co-authored with close colleagues Paul Ehrlich and Anne Ehrlich, were so shocking that a February 2009 Front Page Magazine story on the subject was largely dismissed as being outlandish because people couldn’t bring themselves to believe that it could be true.

It was only when another Internet blog obtained the book and posted screenshots that the awful truth about what Holdren had actually committed to paper actually began to sink in.

This issue is more prescient than ever because Holdren and his colleagues are now at the forefront of efforts to combat “climate change” through similarly insane programs focused around geoengineering the planet. As we reported in April, Holdren recently advocated “Large-scale geoengineering projects designed to cool the Earth,” such as “shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays,” which many have pointed out is already occurring via chemtrails.

Ecoscience discusses a number of ways in which the global population could be reduced to combat what the authors see as mankind’s greatest threat – overpopulation. In each case, the proposals are couched in sober academic rhetoric, but the horrifying foundation of what Holdren and his co-authors are advocating is clear. These proposals include;

- Forcibly and unknowingly sterilizing the entire population by adding infertility drugs to the nation’s water and food supply.

- Legalizing “compulsory abortions,” ie forced abortions carried out against the will of the pregnant women, as is common place in Communist China where women who have already had one child and refuse to abort the second are kidnapped off the street by the authorities before a procedure is carried out to forcibly abort the baby.

- Babies who are born out of wedlock or to teenage mothers to be forcibly taken away from their mother by the government and put up for adoption. Another proposed measure would force single mothers to demonstrate to the government that they can care for the child, effectively introducing licensing to have children.

- Implementing a system of “involuntary birth control,” where both men and women would be mandated to have an infertility device implanted into their body at puberty and only have it removed temporarily if they received permission from the government to have a baby.

- Permanently sterilizing people who the authorities deem have already had too many children or who have contributed to “general social deterioration”.

- Formally passing a law that criminalizes having more than two children, similar to the one child policy in Communist China.

- This would all be overseen by a transnational and centralized “planetary regime” that would utilize a “global police force” to enforce the measures outlined above. The “planetary regime” would also have the power to determine population levels for every country in the world.

The quotes from the book are included below. We also include comments by the author of the blog who provided the screenshots of the relevant passages. Screenshots of the relevant pages and the quotes in their full context are provided at the end of the excerpts. The quotes from the book appear as text indents and in bold. The quotes from the author of the blog are italicized.

Page 837: Compulsory abortions would be legal

“Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.”

As noted in the FrontPage article cited above, Holdren “hides behind the passive voice” in this passage, by saying “it has been concluded.” Really? By whom? By the authors of the book, that’s whom. What Holdren’s really saying here is, “I have determined that there’s nothing unconstitutional about laws which would force women to abort their babies.” And as we will see later, although Holdren bemoans the fact that most people think there’s no need for such laws, he and his co-authors believe that the population crisis is so severe that the time has indeed come for “compulsory population-control laws.” In fact, they spend the entire book arguing that “the population crisis” has already become “sufficiently severe to endanger the society.”

Page 786: Single mothers should have their babies taken away by the government; or they could be forced to have abortions

“One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption—especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone. If a single mother really wished to keep her baby, she might be obliged to go through adoption proceedings and demonstrate her ability to support and care for it. Adoption proceedings probably should remain more difficult for single people than for married couples, in recognition of the relative difficulty of raising children alone. It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.”

Holdren and his co-authors once again speculate about unbelievably draconian solutions to what they feel is an overpopulation crisis. But what’s especially disturbing is not that Holdren has merely made these proposals — wrenching babies from their mothers’ arms and giving them away; compelling single mothers to prove in court that they would be good parents; and forcing women to have abortions, whether they wanted to or not — but that he does so in such a dispassionate, bureaucratic way. Don’t be fooled by the innocuous and “level-headed” tone he takes: the proposals are nightmarish, however euphemistically they are expressed.

Holdren seems to have no grasp of the emotional bond between mother and child, and the soul-crushing trauma many women have felt throughout history when their babies were taken away from them involuntarily.

This kind of clinical, almost robotic discussion of laws that would affect millions of people at the most personal possible level is deeply unsettling, and the kind of attitude that gives scientists a bad name. I’m reminded of the phrase “banality of evil.”

Not that it matters, but I myself am “pro-choice” — i.e. I think that abortion should not be illegal. But that doesn’t mean I’m pro-abortion — I don’t particularly like abortions, but I do believe women should be allowed the choice to have them. But John Holdren here proposes to take away that choice — to force women to have abortions. One doesn’t need to be a “pro-life” activist to see the horror of this proposal — people on all sides of the political spectrum should be outraged. My objection to forced abortion is not so much to protect the embryo, but rather to protect the mother from undergoing a medical procedure against her will. And not just any medical procedure, but one which she herself (regardless of my views) may find particularly immoral or traumatic.

There’s a bumper sticker that’s popular in liberal areas which says: “Against abortion? Then don’t have one.” Well, John Holdren wants to MAKE you have one, whether you’re against it or not.

Page 787-8: Mass sterilization of humans though drugs in the water supply is OK as long as it doesn’t harm livestock

“Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.”

OK, John, now you’re really starting to scare me. Putting sterilants in the water supply? While you correctly surmise that this suggestion “seems to horrify people more than most proposals,” you apparently are not among those people it horrifies. Because in your extensive list of problems with this possible scheme, there is no mention whatsoever of any ethical concerns or moral issues. In your view, the only impediment to involuntary mass sterilization of the population is that it ought to affect everyone equally and not have any unintended side effects or hurt animals. But hey, if we could sterilize all the humans safely without hurting the livestock, that’d be peachy! The fact that Holdren has no moral qualms about such a deeply invasive and unethical scheme (aside from the fact that it would be difficult to implement) is extremely unsettling and in a sane world all by itself would disqualify him from holding a position of power in the government.

Page 786-7: The government could control women’s reproduction by either sterilizing them or implanting mandatory long-term birth control

Involuntary fertility control

“A program of sterilizing women after their second or third child, despite the relatively greater difficulty of the operation than vasectomy, might be easier to implement than trying to sterilize men.

The development of a long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin and removed when pregnancy is desired opens additional possibilities for coercive fertility control. The capsule could be implanted at puberty and might be removable, with official permission, for a limited number of births.”

Note well the phrase “with official permission” in the above quote. John Holdren envisions a society in which the government implants a long-term sterilization capsule in all girls as soon as they reach puberty, who then must apply for official permission to temporarily remove the capsule and be allowed to get pregnant at some later date. Alternately, he wants a society that sterilizes all women once they have two children. Do you want to live in such a society? Because I sure as hell don’t.

Page 838: The kind of people who cause “social deterioration” can be compelled to not have children

“If some individuals contribute to general social deterioration by overproducing children, and if the need is compelling, they can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility—just as they can be required to exercise responsibility in their resource-consumption patterns—providing they are not denied equal protection.“

To me, this is in some ways the most horrifying sentence in the entire book — and it had a lot of competition. Because here Holdren reveals that moral judgments would be involved in determining who gets sterilized or is forced to abort their babies. Proper, decent people will be left alone — but those who “contribute to social deterioration” could be “forced to exercise reproductive responsibility” which could only mean one thing — compulsory abortion or involuntary sterilization. What other alternative would there be to “force” people to not have children? Will government monitors be stationed in irresponsible people’s bedrooms to ensure they use condoms? Will we bring back the chastity belt? No — the only way to “force” people to not become or remain pregnant is to sterilize them or make them have abortions.

But what manner of insanity is this? “Social deterioration”? Is Holdren seriously suggesting that “some” people contribute to social deterioration more than others, and thus should be sterilized or forced to have abortions, to prevent them from propagating their kind? Isn’t that eugenics, plain and simple? And isn’t eugenics universally condemned as a grotesquely evil practice?

We’ve already been down this road before. In one of the most shameful episodes in the history of U.S. jurisprudence, the Supreme Court ruled in the infamous 1927 Buck v. Bell case that the State of Virginia had had the right to sterilize a woman named Carrie Buck against her will, based solely on the (spurious) criteria that she was “feeble-minded” and promiscuous, with Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes concluding, “Three generations of imbeciles are enough.” Nowadays, of course, we look back on that ruling in horror, as eugenics as a concept has been forever discredited. In fact, the United Nations now regards forced sterilization as a crime against humanity.

The italicized phrase at the end (”providing they are not denied equal protection”), which Holdren seems to think gets him off the eugenics hook, refers to the 14th Amendment (as you will see in the more complete version of this passage quoted below), meaning that the eugenics program wouldn’t be racially based or discriminatory — merely based on the whim and assessments of government bureaucrats deciding who and who is not an undesirable. If some civil servant in Holdren’s America determines that you are “contributing to social deterioration” by being promiscuous or pregnant or both, will government agents break down your door and and haul you off kicking and screaming to the abortion clinic? In fact, the Supreme Court case Skinner v. Oklahoma already determined that the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment distinctly prohibits state-sanctioned sterilization being applied unequally to only certain types of people.

No no, you say, Holdren isn’t claiming that some kind of people contribute to social deterioration more than others; rather, he’s stating that anyone who overproduces children thereby contributes to social deterioration and needs to be stopped from having more. If so — how is that more palatable? It seems Holdren and his co-authors have not really thought this through, because what they are suggesting is a nightmarish totalitarian society. What does he envision: All women who commit the crime of having more than two children be dragged away by police to the government-run sterilization centers? Or — most disturbingly of all — perhaps Holdren has thought it through, and is perfectly OK with the kind of dystopian society he envisions in this book.

Sure, I could imagine a bunch of drunken guys sitting around shooting the breeze, expressing these kinds of forbidden thoughts; who among us hasn’t looked in exasperation at a harried mother buying candy bars and soda for her immense brood of unruly children and thought: Lady, why don’t you just get your tubes tied already? But it’s a different matter when the Science Czar of the United States suggests the very same thing officially in print. It ceases being a harmless fantasy, and suddenly the possibility looms that it could become government policy. And then it’s not so funny anymore.

Page 838: Nothing is wrong or illegal about the government dictating family size

“In today’s world, however, the number of children in a family is a matter of profound public concern. The law regulates other highly personal matters. For example, no one may lawfully have more than one spouse at a time. Why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?”

Why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?

Why?

I’ll tell you why, John. Because the the principle of habeas corpus upon which our nation rests automatically renders any compulsory abortion scheme to be unconstitutional, since it guarantees the freedom of each individual’s body from detention or interference, until that person has been convicted of a crime. Or are you seriously suggesting that, should bureaucrats decide that the country is overpopulated, the mere act of pregnancy be made a crime?

I am no legal scholar, but it seems that John Holdren is even less of a legal scholar than I am. Many of the bizarre schemes suggested in Ecoscience rely on seriously flawed legal reasoning. The book is not so much about science, but instead is about reinterpreting the Constitution to allow totalitarian population-control measures.

Page 942-3: A “Planetary Regime” should control the global economy and dictate by force the number of children allowed to be born

Toward a Planetary Regime

“Perhaps those agencies, combined with UNEP and the United Nations population agencies, might eventually be developed into a Planetary Regime—sort of an international superagency for population, resources, and environment. Such a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable, at least insofar as international implications exist. Thus the Regime could have the power to control pollution not only in the atmosphere and oceans, but also in such freshwater bodies as rivers and lakes that cross international boundaries or that discharge into the oceans. The Regime might also be a logical central agency for regulating all international trade, perhaps including assistance from DCs to LDCs, and including all food on the international market.”

“The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries’ shares within their regional limits. Control of population size might remain the responsibility of each government, but the Regime would have some power to enforce the agreed limits.”

In case you were wondering exactly who would enforce these forced abortion and mass sterilization laws: Why, it’ll be the “Planetary Regime”! Of course! I should have seen that one coming.

The rest of this passage speaks for itself. Once you add up all the things the Planetary Regime (which has a nice science-fiction ring to it, doesn’t it?) will control, it becomes quite clear that it will have total power over the global economy, since according to Holdren this Planetary Regime will control “all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable” (which basically means all goods) as well as all food, and commerce on the oceans and any rivers “that discharge into the oceans” (i.e. 99% of all navigable rivers). What’s left? Not much.

Page 917: We will need to surrender national sovereignty to an armed international police force

“If this could be accomplished, security might be provided by an armed international organization, a global analogue of a police force. Many people have recognized this as a goal, but the way to reach it remains obscure in a world where factionalism seems, if anything, to be increasing. The first step necessarily involves partial surrender of sovereignty to an international organization.”

The other shoe drops. So: We are expected to voluntarily surrender national sovereignty to an international organization (the “Planetary Regime,” presumably), which will be armed and have the ability to act as a police force. And we saw in the previous quote exactly which rules this armed international police force will be enforcing: compulsory birth control, and all economic activity.

It would be laughable if Holdren weren’t so deadly serious. Do you want this man to be in charge of science and technology in the United States? Because he already is in charge.

Page 749: Pro-family and pro-birth attitudes are caused by ethnic chauvinism

“Another related issue that seems to encourage a pronatalist attitude in many people is the question of the differential reproduction of social or ethnic groups. Many people seem to be possessed by fear that their group may be outbred by other groups. White Americans and South Africans are worried there will be too many blacks, and vice versa. The Jews in Israel are disturbed by the high birth rates of Israeli Arabs, Protestants are worried about Catholics, and lbos about Hausas. Obviously, if everyone tries to outbreed everyone else, the result will be catastrophe for all. This is another case of the “tragedy of the commons,” wherein the “commons” is the planet Earth. Fortunately, it appears that, at least in the DCs, virtually all groups are exercising reproductive restraint.”

This passage is not particularly noteworthy except for the inclusion of the odd phrase “pronatalist attitude,” which Holdren spends much of the book trying to undermine. And what exactly is a “pronatalist attitude”? Basically it means the urge to have children, and to like babies. If only we could suppress people’s natural urge to want children and start families, we could solve all our problems!

What’s disturbing to me is the incredibly patronizing and culturally imperialist attitude he displays here, basically acting like he has the right to tell every ethnic group in the world that they should allow themselves to go extinct or at least not increase their populations any more. How would we feel if Andaman Islanders showed up on the steps of the Capitol in Washington D.C. and announced that there were simply too many Americans, and we therefore are commanded to stop breeding immediately? One imagines that the attitude of every ethnic group in the world to John Holdren’s proposal would be: Cram it, John. Stop telling us what to do.

Page 944: As of 1977, we are facing a global overpopulation catastrophe that must be resolved at all costs by the year 2000

“Humanity cannot afford to muddle through the rest of the twentieth century; the risks are too great, and the stakes are too high. This may be the last opportunity to choose our own and our descendants’ destiny. Failing to choose or making the wrong choices may lead to catastrophe. But it must never be forgotten that the right choices could lead to a much better world.”

This is the final paragraph of the book, which I include here only to show how embarrassingly inaccurate his “scientific” projections were. In 1977, Holdren thought we were teetering on the brink of global catastrophe, and he proposed implementing fascistic rules and laws to stave off the impending disaster. Luckily, we ignored his warnings, yet the world managed to survive anyway without the need to punish ourselves with the oppressive society which Holdren proposed. Yes, there still is overpopulation, but the problems it causes are not as morally repugnant as the “solutions” which John Holdren wanted us to adopt.

   Population reduction seems aimed at managing what may be viewed by the elite as unsustainable human numbers. The elite who tap the best minds, seemed to anticipate a need for population reduction (or an inability to sustain high human numbers) decades ago – hence the existence of such books. High human numbers (human resources as we have come to be known) have been sustainable for decades. Only lately do they seem think otherwise. The emergence of hydrocarbon energy during the past century has contributed to a spike in human numbers. The anticipated exhaustion of this same energy (and the agriculture industry it sustains) likely drives the current population reduction push. (along with the current push for new forms of energy)

   The elite seem to do what they do to the human herd, for the sake of their own administrative convenience. When they require us to seize resources via war, they motivate us with false-flag events. And when they can no longer manage us, they seem to devise ways of getting eliminating us.

   What the elite do to the world via manufactured outcomes, can often be understood via simple common sense.

   What the elite or stand up sewage manage to do is get the herd to enslave itself. Which if they continue with their broadcasting and ego manical schemes should simply turn around on them because they are not supermen, they are small and it seldom comes in adult size; which helps them promote eugenics and the reduction of ‘other’ populations to simply remove competition. No-thing brilliant just further mental masturbation with the additive of seeing it in print. Because they reproduce 5 of other small links which further frustrates their need to simply be happy with their size and number. The key would simply be that if they could like themselves and be happy with their gifts despite how miserable they are with the short thefts they have always perpetrated, it might make their situation one of contentment.

   Within 80-100 years the numbers may be able to come back to workable situation .

   At the time these books were written (1950’s through 1970’s), there hadn’t been any research into agricultural genetics or intensive farming methods using synthetic oil-based fertilizers.

   Now, the only restriction on feeding the world is the price of oil to manufacture the fertilizers, transport them, deliver them to the soil, and transport the crops to market.

   These sixties radicals got their degrees when standards were quite low. In fact the important thing was having the radical political outlook, not intellectual acumen.

   They fried their brains on drugs and destroyed their intellects. I know I saw it happen. I’m just 10 to 12 years younger than they are and I saw them doing this and I heard many of their rap sessions in the 70’s. They claimed to know better than everyone else with their utopian visions (so-called) and eschewed all tradition including the constitution.    Unfortunately, Mr. Agnew, in many ways the sixties radicals actually have, usaully unwittingly, furthered the goals of the elitists.    Most of these foreign wars are certainly misguided. I agree with many of the founding fathers on the subject. MAKE NO MISTAKE, COLLECTIVISM IS A TOOL OF CONQUEST USED BY THE ELITIST, TOTALITARIAN, BILLIONAIRES AND TRILLIONAIRES OF THE WORLD.

   Also, please take a map of the world, research and plot drug smuggling routes. Then mark U.S. military actions on the map and see if there is an overlap. Then, research fugures of amounts of drug imports into the U.S. and Europe before and after these military actions. Then research which groups involved in these conflicts (for example the Kosovo Liberation Army) have been involveed in smuggling. Were they allies or enemies of the U.S. and why? Is there a correspondence between smuggling routes and occupied territory. Is there a correspondence between smuggling groups and who the U.S. chooses as allies? Remember Air America? Of course this is just one example of the malfeasance involved in these wars. I don’t think that communism was the issue. The elitists like to kill many birds with one stone.

   Another issue is the way opposing communism has been so villainized in the U.S. that one is often loathe to even say anything bad about communism for fear of being labeled a McCarthyite. The bankers and other high-level malefactors agree with the sixties radicals on this because it gives them cover to promote their Fabian marxism and other forms of totalitarian collectivism. This collectivism is used as a tool to constantly attack the Natural Rights, God-Given rights, of the people of the world. The sixties radicals and people like them often have good intentions and often don’t understand what is happening. I used to agree with them but I differ in some ways now.

   Conmen usually attack the character weaknesses of their victims. In the case of sixties radicals it is often their arrogance or outright hubris however well-meaning their goals. Even the most well intentioned goals of the hippies have a negative side and they are all based on their disdain for traditional American values. In short they display hubris.

   Look at how bad it can get! Some call for genocide, poisoining public water, and many other forms of treason and crimes against humanity. There are people calling for the killing of Anglos throughout the southwest in order to “reconquer” the territory. Then when a rancher in the southwest detains tresspassers on his ranch and treats them to milk and cookies while waiting for law enforcement, the Sothern Poverty Law Center sues him and wins. They take his ranch and give it to the tresspassers! I don’t believe that that was a case of fighting racism. On the contrary, it is racism!

   Everyone knows that Imperial totalitarians like to play off their own people against each other to maintain power.    Yes, I am ashamed to state the facts, but it is sadly true. Although most often fair-skinned folks are automatically accused of being bigots and racists, I am aware that even minorities can become spiteful racists. As a young adult, I had unwittingly joined a club that I believed would offer me education about my historical roots through the ancient Indians of Mexico, and was horrified to discover they supported “anti-anglo” biases.
   I left that group, but not without mailing off a protest letter aimed at making it clear I denounced their agenda and teachings.

   I cannot and will not accept outright spreading of hatred and bigotry, even if it is coming from a few nutcases from my ethnic group. Yes, our world history is filled with man’s inhumanity to man, and “righteous angst” at the perpetrators of injustice and merciless hatred, is understandable…who wouldn’t be hurt by unreasonable and unrelentless xenophobic propaganda? But promoting Racism is inexcusable and unacceptable, and must always be stamped down before the fires of hatred hurt others. Life is indeed getting to become more and more harsh and complex. This is the time we must be trying to stand together, not allow ourselves to be divided by those who would benefit by turning us against one another…therefore easing the agenda of DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

   Stabilization of the white population in the west may very well have been acheived at the same time as rises in living standards but the situation as then compared with Africa today was completely different. For a start the white west was getting rich on the back of the enslavement and subsequent exploitation of Africa, its people and its resources. Also, the west did not have an economically, militarily or politically superior force to battle against as Africa does today nor was it competing against societies which have smaller and less intrusive population growths.

   Well if you think that abortion should not be illegal, that’s just as bad as funding for it because you encourage the idea of killing babies. I think the babies have their own right to live, and it is not for the mother to decide whether it should die or not. It’s the mother’s right to take care of it. They have laws out there to punish those parents who neglect their children, why not punish them for killing them? Think about yourself for a moment, are you alive or are you dead? Who made the decision to raise you up? Do you support the idea of abortion being legal because you hate your parents? In fact, I think it’s more important here in the US as according to stats they breed more here due to the higher standard of living.    Part of the problem with regard to Mexican immigration is that people want a paycheck but they don’t want to physically work. This opens the door for immigrants who will do the physical work. If you are an employer, have your employees vacuum the floor and take out the trash and wipe down the counters at the end of each workday. If they are too vain to work, then cut back their hours until they leave and find a job else ware.

    Yes, and I received an e-mail with the White House logo on it, from the President’s Advisor on Homeland Security, advising that I take the H1N1 vaccine. Isn’t it ODD that the White House should e-mail an individual they don’t even know (me) to encourage I take this vaccine?

    I have gotten the flu a few times in my 50+ years of life, and never have I been contacted by the White House to encourage me to accept a new vaccine!!! They are calling it the 2009-H1N1 flu virus, and these vaccinations will “take place in your homes, schools, and community businesses.”

    Odd, I used to get my vaccinations before beginning school and was done with it. And other than a booster shot, or an antibiotic when I got really sick, vaccinations were NEVER pushed this strongly. THE MOST RECENT GENERATIONS HAVE NOT NOTICED, AS I HAVE, THE UNILATERAL AGGRESSIVENESS OUR GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN ON TOWARD THE CITIZENS IN SO MANY AREAS OF OUR LIVES.     Up untill 1945 (i.e. the end of WWII) the population of the world was less than 40% of the present count. Since 1945 WHO and the NGOs have distributed condoms and other population control mecahnisms free of cost to the have nots of the world, while the rich people did not have many children any way. PAradox, but true that the baby boomers generation started with the free condom era. Understandable, because many were than church goers and did not believe in population control, coupled with the memories of the horrors of deaths during the war, amny wanted to have more children, more as social safety net rather than the mere pleasure of soeing wild oats. However the fact remains that instead of controlling the population the growth curve went up at a 90 degree angle.
    Since then and simultenously the movers and shakers of the world carefully introduced three very lethal weapons against the popuilation:
    a) Controled introduction of pandemics via edible animal like poultry birds, Cows and now swines and of course Atlantic Samon fish, coupled with bogus R&D by products of pharmaceutila drugs and junk food / fast food joints. Mind you, during the same period the deep sea ttrawllers mopped out all they could from the deep floor basins of the ocean and destroyed 98% of the catch merely to catch Tuna, Sharks, lobsters and a handful of fewe other exhotic sea food./ While rest were trown back in the oicean as dead catches and not for human consumption.
    When one observes all these apparently contradictory policiwes and implementation os the policies by the so called law makers and movers and shakers of the world, one is either conmfused or convinced that these are not results of random decision via trail and error, rather they are with a specific hidden agenda to control the teaming millions on the main street. To further strengthen the hands of the angles of death the monetary policies and banking has been structured over the last 60 plus years in a manner that the guy in the street becomes a totlal helpless hobo and at some point compromise with his / her youthful high morals and ethicas and by the time they hit middle age they become receipiants of do9lls and hand out in one from opr the other. Therefore we see the influx of Mixed economy, social safety nets and tax free off shore banking, credit cards, consumer banking growing at an exponencial rate during the last two decadeds. To hammer the last nail in the coffin box the investment banking had to be tainted too and that was accomplished in the last decade. Now the entire world is a hostage in the hands of the 130 movers and shakers of the world and the balance of 6 billion are juast a matter of statistical numbers for marketing companies, bankl, ad firms, governments , NGOs and development banks.
    The only tool now left in the hands of the 130 movers and shakers is to systematically decimate the world population and turn the so called unproductive but walking Nitorgens (i.e. human nbeing) in to fartilizer nd thereby augment the food production and resultant surplus of food.
    Our memory might be short and selectrive, but we do remember the effects of pesticides, chemicla fertilizer and deep tubewel in the 3rd world at the behast of USAID and tnopw the GMO that is creating havoc in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the South American countries, where poverty has increased beyong any arithmetical logic.
    At some point one has to stop listening to the tamperred statistacis that we arer bombarded with on a minute to minute basis via the media(controled by the vested interest group) and develop some conviction on the balancing force of nature.
    Global warming, astronomical medical expense, lack of food, etc. are nmo factors for nature. Rather nature has its own way of evening out any odd created by man on a long run.
    The only viable suggestion at this critical juncture of human history is to do the following:
    a) Instead of depending on the catered and necessarily bogus statistical data one must have his / her own data base via extensive reading
    b) Depend on the lessons of history and develop faith with the Crreator on a one on one basis, rather than the ritual based structured religion
    c) Have the gutts to call a spade a spade and a niddle a niddle, in other words believe that man only dies once and cowerd dies many a times before its death.
    d) Use the internet based WMD to fight the vested interest group.
    It might take a while, but victory is assured – just measure how measure the effects since 9/11 and the days of Mission Accomplished to today and one will have reasons to be encouraged.

    It is true, that all humans who have children should strive to be responsible progenitors. In other words, it’s not responsible parenting to have ten children and let those children go hungry and unattended. HOWEVER, it is not the job of government or scientific eugenicists to enforce their population control methods on humanity. Using a condom or a birth control pill is one thing and it is reasonable. Forced abortions, surreptitious sterilizations and the rest are something else.

    A better approach is to educate young people in highschool as to the importance of responsible parenting and the value of children and human life.

    As for putting sterilants into the water supply; oh yeah, that’s one of Ehrlich’s disgraceful ideas from way back. We will give credit where credit is due.

    Could it be that the real reason these people are for “population control” is because they and their financial backers, (Hhmm, I wonder who they could be) want less of us, to free up more resources for them to own and control?

    1) Sure it would be wrong to sterilize people based on the number of children they have, but what makes the “social deterioraton” clause so wrong? There are, in my humble opinion, some very obvious cases of people who are detractors to society (e.g. murderers, criminally insane, etc).

    2) Why is there a law against people having more than one spouse? That forced inability to wed more than one person seems to tread on the toes of habeas corpus in a manner very similar to forcing an abortion. Please elaborate.

    I actually did some of my growing up in a community populated predominantly with fair-skinned folks, and it NEVER occured to me that there were: “too many white folks”, even when we were one of only two Mexican-American families that resided there. It never came into my mind to wish that their numbers be cut down, because I never had any reason to feel INTIMIDATED by my kindly neighbors. None were racists, none treated us with disrespect or injustice. I never knew of real racism from others until I became an adult. I couldn’t understand why some people find some twisted need to hate their fellow man just for the color of their skin.
    I now reside in a predominantly Afro-American neighborhood, and I don’t entertain any fantasies that their numbers should be depleted, either. I am quite fond of them, actually.
    I suspect your hatred for me, and my people here for generations residing in the USA, may not be stilled by kind words or reasoning, and I hope you will NEVER experience what it is like for people to simply hate you just because they would rather believe in stereotypes and ignorant bigoted attitudes.     I am a native Angeleno. It is a great city but was once much better before the Mexicans made it a third world sewer. California is bankrupt now, now small thanks to the illegal aliens that cost us upwards of 9 billion a year sucking up services. But you are obviously one of these bleeding heart bible thumpers that can’t face reality so I am not going to waste my time.

    I do invite you to live in east LA for one month however, and after the Mexicans defecate in your backyard and throw trash on your lawn and make a stink of your property and blast their mariachi music at all hours, will see how much you’ll be kissing their asses then./ I have also lived with predominately black and asian, other races also but they are ok.     Laura was woken by her father; something that he had not done since she was a child. As her thoughts slowly swam back into focus, she was suddenly sure that she had slept naked and he had seen her, but to her relief she was wearing her baby-blue pyjamas. God, what was he doing in here anyway?

    “Come on, you,” he said brightly, opening the curtains and letting the sunlight in. Outside, she could hear a lawnmower running, perhaps in the next street, and what could’ve been birdsong. “It’s Button Day, remember? Get dressed, put something nice on. We’re leaving in an hour.”

    Laura stirred, her voice groggy. “Dad, what the hell? Couldn’t you just knock? What if I’d slept nude?”
    He didn’t look at her, he was too busy admiring his garden from the window. “Oh, you’ve nothing I haven’t seen before. I’m your bloody father, I‘ve wiped your arse many a time before now.”

    “Not the point, Dad.“ Squinting, Laura sat up, rubbing her eyes, and remembered what he’d just said.
    “Dad, did you just say ‘Button Day’?”

    “Well, yeah. What, did you forget?” He laughed as he crossed the room to the door. “You were only talking about it last night.”

    “Wait – what?” She frowned, not understanding. Something was wrong here. A fine way to start the day, really. She hadn’t even gotten out of bed yet, and she was already getting weird shit. “What are you talking about?”

    He shook his head, still smiling as he left the room. “Get dressed. Breakfast is ready.”

    He left her sitting up in bed, holding the covers to her breasts, a look of confusion on her face. Eventually she got out of bed, and began to pull some clothes on that were to hand. Familiar sounds floated up to her from downstairs: pots and pans rattling, the TV on low, the muffled tones of her family talking to each other, a short, harsh laugh – her brother. No doubt laughing at the TV.

    She did her zipper on her jeans, and stood for a second before finally saying out loud, “Button Day?”

    Downstairs, her mother was washing the dishes, humming to herself. Sunlight filled the room, making it warm and fresh. Her father and brother were sitting at the table, eating toast. There was a plate set for her, and she sat down, pulling it towards her.
    Her brother was wearing a crisp white shirt – and he never wore shirts. She doubted that he even owned one. This was one of her father’s, she recognised it.

    “What’s with the shirt?” She asked, picking her toast up, and his eyes never left the TV, which was typical of him. A year younger than her at fourteen, he was arrogant and know it all to boot.
    “It’s Button Day, isn’t it?” He mumbled through a mouthful of toast, and her mother turned around, and tutted loudly at him.

    “Mark, don’t talk with your mouth full.” She saw Laura and sighed. “Laura, you could dress a little better than that. At least make an effort.”

    “What for?” Laura said, then looked at the ceiling, irritated. “Oh wait, let me guess. Button Day. Am I missing something here?”

    Her mother shook her head, turning back to the dishes. “Don’t be so childish, Laura. It doesn’t suit you. Please make sure you get changed into something else before we leave.”

    “I wanted to see Michael today. I’m not going with you, sorry.”

    A hush fell over the kitchen as everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at her in surprise. Warily, Laura said, “What?”

    “Are you crazy?” Her brother asked. “You can’t go out today, you’re coming with us!”

    “Laura, you made plans? Today, of all days?” Her father asked, and she pushed back on her chair as a dull anger rose in her.

    “Yes, I made plans! What the hell is going on this morning?”

    No-one answered her. They were staring at her as if she’d took a crap on her plate. She got up, pushing her plate away. “You know what? Forget it.”

    “Laura, stop this, right now,” her mother snapped. “You knew perfectly well what we were doing today. It’s been planned for a long time. Now you can just call Michael and tell him why you’re not seeing him.”

    “That’s just it!” Laura yelled. “What do I tell him? I don’t know why I can’t go! It’s just you telling me I can’t!”

    “It’s Button Day,” her brother said. “That’s why.”

    “Button Day?” She cried. “What the hell are you all talking about? I’ve never heard of Button Day! You’re all acting like-” She suddenly stopped, comprehension dawning on her face. Her family were playing a joke on her. This was all a joke. With a warm rush, a huge weight lifted from her shoulders. Now she understood.

    “Very funny, guys,” She said, her voice calm and collected. “You really had me going there.” She turned and left the room, heading for the front door. As she went, her mother called after her, “Laura! Please be back in an hour, we can’t leave without you, okay?”

    “Yeah, yeah,” Laura called back. “I wouldn’t want to miss Button Day, would I?”

    The short walk to Michael’s house gave Laura enough time to feel guilty about how angry she had gotten with her family. As she’d gotten older, her temper had shortened. She planned on apologising later – she had an hour, right? Wasn’t that what her mother had said?

    I wonder where we’re going, Laura thought, watching a plane a few miles above cut a white line across the sky. Or was that a joke too? Was it that they really were going out, and it had been a planned thing, and she had simply forgotten all about it?

    She could see Michaels house from here, with the white fence and broad front lawn. She began to jog, eager to see him. As she crossed his driveway the front door opened and Michael came out with a look of shock on his face. He had seen her coming up the street.

    “Hey, what’s wrong?” Laura asked, and to her dismay he suddenly looked a little angry.
    “You shouldn’t be here,” he said.

    “What, did we fight, and I missed the memo?”

    “You told me this was your family’s Button Day,” he said, and there was movement behind him.

    Laura blinked, her mouth open in surprise. A blonde girl came to the door, squinting in the light, and slinked her arm around Michael. She was wearing a nightshirt and nothing else, and her hair was tousled.

    “Go home,” the blonde said, and Laura backed away, blinking back sudden tears. Michael would not meet her eyes, so she turned and ran.

    Her mother caught her just as she was about to run into her bedroom.

    She pulled Laura close, holding her as she sobbed. “I know, I know. Let it all out.” She stroked Laura’s hair, rocking her a little. “Men are bastards, aren’t they?”

    Laura pulled back to look at her mother, sniffing. “…You know?”

    “You’ve just come back from his place in floods of tears. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what happened.”

    “He’s got himself a blonde. A blonde! I’ll bet that’s why he wanted me to dye my hair!”

    She cried for a little longer, and her mother held her. “There, there. Come on. Let’s get you changed for our trip.”

    “…So we are going out?”

    “Of course we are, silly! Here we are, this is a nice blouse. Your best, I think. Put this on, I want us looking our best for our Button Day.”

    Laura’s stomach rolled lazily. She suddenly remembered Michael mentioning Button Day, too. This wasn’t a joke. This was real. It was all real, and she didn’t have a clue what was happening.

    “Mom, listen to me a minute. Something here is very wrong.”

    “I know. You really liked him, I know you did. It’s terrible that he’s upset you, on this day, of all days.”

    “That’s just it, Mum – I don’t know anything about Button Day. I’ve never heard of it, and since this morning I feel as if I’m the only one who hasn’t the faintest idea what’s going on!”

    “Well, to be honest, I’m no expert. I know it was the Governments idea to combat overcrowding, but other than that-”

    “No, no. I mean at all. I’ve never heard of it.”

    There was an uneasy silence, in which her mother looked at her for a long time. Her mouth was set in a hard line.

    When she finally spoke, her voice was calm. “I know you’re upset, so I’ll play along with your little prank, okay? Just get changed – here’s your blouse – and I’ll see you in the car in five minutes, okay? We’re waiting for you.”

    Her mother walked away, leaving Laura alone and frightened, her best blouse in her trembling hands.

    The next thing she knew, she was in the car. Everything was flowing by in a fluid, carefree motion that made her feel more and more uneasy. What the hell was going on? Why did she not recall anything about this day that everyone was talking about?

    She could see everything in absurd detail, slowed down to super slow motion: The fluff on the back of her mothers headrest. A bit of stubble that her fathers razor had missed. A crack in the pavement as they passed. She suddenly felt more lucid than she had ever felt in her whole life, yet she was unable to speak, trapped inside her own body. It was as if she were a puppet, walking on strings made from fear’s own web.

    Somewhere deep inside, she was still clinging to an ocean-battered rock of hope, a charred crater of sense that told her that this was all a massive joke, a huge, elaborate hoax. As they pulled up outside the white, box-like building, squat and stern, that hope faded.

    “Here we are,” her father said cheerfully, and she felt herself pull the door handle and step out of the car. She stood trembling in the sun like a baby deer, the building bearing down on her as if it had teeth.

    Acting as if they were at the seaside, her family got out of the car, chatting animatedly. They set off towards the main entrance, Laura trailing behind. A sign stood over them: GOVERNMENT PROPERTY – KEEP OUT. She saw the security cameras watching them, and hurried after her family, her footsteps flat and dead.

    The door to the building was made of glass, and as they pushed through into the clean lobby, Laura saw a receptionist busily typing on a computer. The receptionist looked up with a professional smile at her father as he approached.

    “Hi, we’re the Krandalls. Here for our Button Day,” he said, and she smiled.

    “Go on through, sir. Just keep walking that way.”

    Her father thanked her, and on they went, down a long brightly lit corridor, lined with brass plaques which gleamed. There was something engraved on them all, blocks and blocks of text, and she drew closer as she walked to see what it was. She saw her own reflection looking back at her, and in the harsh fluorescent lights, she looked haggard.

    Names. Hundreds and hundreds of names, thousands of names, one after another. Hogg. Wilson. Carpenter. Buxton. Bell. Palmer. Rowe. Brown. The list went on, seemingly endless.
    Her family walked on, still chatting as if they were on holiday, and up ahead the corridor was coming to an end.

    The corridor opened up into a large, white room. In this room, four small, waist high pillars stood, each with a red button on the top. Beyond them was a long polished desk, with three Government officials seated at it. The Government insignia hung on a huge banner over it all. The room was silent, and sterile.

    Laura watched her family each step up to a pillar, watching the officials expectantly, leaving a pillar for her. Her very own button. Trembling, she stepped up to the pillar, only to notice with a jolt that the floor around them all was on a slight incline, angled towards a drain behind that she hadn’t noticed when she had first arrived. One of the officials spoke, his voice echoing in the open space.

    “Krandall family. The Government has deemed this to be your Button Day. We thank you for your sacrifice to your country, and to your people. Your names shall join those in the long Hall in your honour.”

    “We’re proud,” her father said, and her mother nodded, sincere. Her brother looked as if he were about to weep with pride.

    The official continued. “Then please, in your own time, push your buttons. May God be with you all.”
    Her father turned to his wife, his son, and his daughter, and smiled. “I’ll go first, to show you how easy it is.” He pushed the button on the pillar, and it depressed with a loud, satisfying click.

    As Laura watched, her fathers face turned red, as if he’d been jogging. She remembered how easily flustered he got with exercise, and assumed he’d just walked too fast down the corridor, or something. That was when a crimson teardrop slid down his cheek, and plopped fatly onto the hard, white floor.

    Laura watched, frozen, as blood began to pour from her fathers eyes, nose, ears and mouth. It ran down his shirt, over the belt that she had bought him for his birthday, and down his trousers. It splattered onto the floor. All at once, his eyes burst like over-ripe plums and hung on his cheeks, still connected by red strings. Liquefied brain ran from his eye sockets.

    As his body crumpled to the floor, her mother and brother looked at each other and smiled, pushing their buttons at the same time. They turned to Laura, holding their hands out, blood seeping from their eyes and noses, tricking from their mouths. They assumed Laura had pushed hers, too.

    Laura drew in a breath to scream, but the soft pop of her mothers and brothers eyeballs made it catch in her throat. They fell over backwards, landing on top of each other. Blood was being channelled to the drain, which drank quietly.

    All was silent.

    “Miss Krandell?”

    Numb, she saw the officials watching her closely.

    “Miss Krandell, overpopulation is destroying our towns and cities. Your country needs your action today.”

    She stared wide-eyed at the official. To her side, her brothers hand twitched, the last of the nerve impulses fading. Blood was already congealing in his empty eye sockets.

    The official was standing up slowly, and she saw that he was a tall man. Taller than most, no doubt.
    “Humanity has called,” he said, his voice dropping to almost a whisper. The world had faded away to the button under her fingertips. It was smooth and red. Pushable.

    “…Will you answer?”

    Build a workshop, grow a garden, learn a trade, trade your homegrown, homemade goods with friends and family. Start an alternative monetary system based on resources you and your local community can visibly see and comprehend … a single county is big enough to sustain a self-sufficient economy.

    Fixing the entire country all at once is a difficult task at best. But you can take back your house this week, your family and friends can take your block back, by the end of the year you can have a large number of people in your town involved – make your goals manageable and start knocking them off the list one by one.

    If people can start “We are Change/9/11 Truth” groups all over the country why can’t we just roll everything together and make it a libertarian society with local/county chapters?

    I’m in Thailand or I’d do it myself. We don’t need chapters like that here, we already function as communities, nationally are independent, and even as communities are more or less economically independent.

    I am not for mass extermination. And I am against any program that the NWO would employ in regards to such, exp. vaccines and the like. However I am adamatley for population control and reduction as Vidal is discussing. He does not discuss or advocate anything to do with exterminations and I doubt that he would want this.
    In any case, he is the minority in the liberal movement. That was written 40 years ago, today he would be skewered by the left for declaring such policitically incorrect language. Although there exist schisms in the enviro-liberal movement in regards to this today.     You would think that an ecologist-type would understand a bit about evolution.

    People are much more likely to sacrifice for their own blood relatives, especially their children, than they are for “the benefit of the species”. We complain that people aren’t thinking about the “our childrens’” futures in making decisions like polluting and racking up massive debt, but what incentive do you have to do this if you aren’t allowed/able to have children? Basically, it would demand a level of altruism (to defer their own gratification in order to take care of someone else’s future children) that only exists in saints and movies. If you want people to take care of the planet and stop being so selfish, give them some stake in the game. “The species” only exists in our minds, but evolution works on the level of the individual gene.

    There are plenty of resources on this Earth for everyone…They are just massively mismanaged.

You consider that unintelligent, backwards, etc. Truth is they saw little reason to change their lifestyle because they got everything they needed from their land. Are we to assume a villager in North Korea whose main sustenance comes from a apportioned ration of rice is eating the same amount as an American who can purchase as many Big Mac supersized meals as their stomach desires? Does Europe with their commonly commandeered microcars consume as much fuel as the overactive American military whose hundred ton warmachines mobilize around the globe at a frenzied pace? Then how can a proclaimed “scientist” be able to accurately calculate the crisis of over-consumption unless he/she is working with inaccurate data? The reasoning behind population control on this planet is ludicrous!

     The point here is that the resources on this planet are not as finite as its peddlers would have you believe. Don’t buy into the hype… ALL resources currently in use on this planet can be replenished or used more efficiently amongst its consumers than is the present trend. America is the country which is most infamous for its gluttony and waste and so, for these mad scientists to be correct in their assumptions of consumption, the world must be populated with nothing but Americans! This betrays a sinister plot akin to the original manifest destiny of the western frontiersmen. I can only hope that the thinking world will band together and cull the oppressive Imperialist royalty of all nations of the world as the people did in the Russian and French Revolutions so that the people of all classes may be allowed to live full lives.      Yeah, here’s something everyone needs to do. Look up into the sky on a clear night, and count the stars. There’s one for each one of us with plenty to spare. Overpopulation is something old, tired, unimaginative turds believe in. We were “over” our natural population the moment someone picked up a pointed stick to kill a Mastodon because he refused to die of starvation when the last of the lichen was scratched off the rocks in his cave.

     Since then, we have found ways to find more resources, develop ways to use what we found more efficiently, and ways to make our own resources from otherwise useless material that was in abundance. We did it through technology. Technology comes from innovation, and innovation is based squarely on sound education.

     We could be building massive torus shaped orbital habitats complete with rivers, forests, etc. (search Standford Torus) we could be building canyon cities on the Moon and Mars. There’s the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, there’s plenty in this solar system alone to last us another 1,000 years. We could have been up there already if we spent all this time and money on space travel, education, and technology instead of useless fucked up wars, eugenics, and banker ponzi schemes. Look at what a gem the world has turned out to be! If you ask me, the real useless eaters also double as useless leaders.

     The analysis of this book is just plain silly! I literally laughed out loud to some of the comments by the blogger… These are THEORIES! Things that COULD be done…not that they SHOULD be done. That’s a ridiculous fear-mongering story and, quite frankly, it angers me because the author is no better than those gas bags on Fox News! IN REALITY it’s more likely that tax credits won’t be given for any children you have after your initial two…or something along those lines. People won’t be adbucted in the streets (Just like in China! Oh no! Fear the great red communist threat again! McCarthyist bullshit!) and forced to have abortions. That’s ludicrous…
