There is a video clip running on YouTube at the moment which shows a black woman moved nearly to tears at an Obama rally, telling a television interviewer that all her problems will be at an end when he is elected president. She won’t have to worry anymore about putting gas in her car or paying her mortgage because “he will help me”.
It would be easy to find this absurd – the blind faith of an unsophisticated voter who has clearly mistaken Barack Obama for Jesus – but in truth it is both sad and alarming. I can understand the sense of the miraculous that Obama’s likely accession to the presidency must involve for African-Americans: I grew up in the US at a time when even the cities of the northeast were almost entirely segregated. (It was called “de facto segregation” as opposed to the legally enforced version that prevailed in the South, and was even more pernicious and intractable in its way.)
But this woman’s testimony is a reminder of something deeply disturbing in the Obama phenomenon: the fact that his campaign has shifted its tone from his original “post-racial” stance to one that is subliminally evocative of black evangelism.

Far from his earlier intellectually nuanced and racially neutral delivery, his cadences and his frankly inspirational stump speeches now have the unmistakeable ring of the black pulpit. Little wonder that his candidacy is being mistaken for the Second Coming.
What will this mean for the future? What if, as will almost certainly be the case, the great deliverance fails to deliver?
The disillusion and sense of betrayal may create divisions in American society that will be greater and deeper than any we have seen for a generation.
The sense of hopelessness and bitter disappointment may well be – as Americans say – toxic. Then again, maybe American politics will simply get the grown-up message that no one mortal is the final answer: that the fulfilment of the American dream must always lie within the individual and not with the government. To be fair, Obama himself suggests this when he tells the crowds, “It’s not about me – it’s about you.”

Oh yeah… Obama listened to the people when he voted for the Spying on Americans Act and the Bank Bailout Act. I think he voted for the Amnesty Bill, too, back when The People were flooding the switchboards against it.
The good news is (…might be…), that if he’s elected and he DOESN’T listen to the people, that maybe America will finally wake up.

Give me a break, the guy has done nothing of the sort to deserve any credibility whatsoever, the only reason he’s gotten the support he has is because he carries the race card (i.e. “Oh gee, if i want to be a true open-minded liberal, I’ll vote for semi-black guy because I’m a self-righteous prick”) and because he’s sold out to Wall Street (i.e. he couldn’t care less about you). On that note, if you want to continue to be self-righteous and vote on the basis of race (read: racism) then at least vote Cynthia McKinney. They do not know history because it has no entertainment value thus they know not where they stand in the scheme of things. Unfortunately, this was possibly the last election America had to put things back in place and unfortunately Americans chose not to do so. The silver lining of course is that it will all play out as it has been foretold through history. We could never change it, that’s a fact. My sources tell me of a scenario in play: Bush reveals Obama is really a natural born citizen of Kenya, which is an easily proven fact. A fact that McCain should have exposed, which proves McCain is in on what’s coming down. Bush denies the presidency to Obama which is why Bush already has troops deployed all over this country, to control the riots caused by this. God bless this nation, all things are in His hands, He’s known all our choices from the beginning and has seen there every outcome. So I say this with all urgency forsake this wicked world, look for the good in life and follow Christ, Judge not your fellow man but be there to help him when he falls, we shouldn’t worry about what is coming tomorrow or the next day, but have faith that God through all our hardships has our best intrest at heart. We have no idea if this is the end or if this is just life, for in our life we will all have tribulations, we will all have hardships some more then others yes, but what would have happened if the first disciples of our Lord simply camped out and waited in a cave for his return? We would never have had a chance at life for certain, so all i can say (and this goes for myself as well) we need to show the world the love of Jesus Christ. I say give him a try. We can be negative all day long or we can work together and be productive. We can live unity instead of division.
We can say it will be the same old same old in Washington and that might be true. But it has not happened in that manner. Today is November 5 and Obama has not started his Presidency yet. We need to give him a try. The other’s surely haven’t done a great job but in all honesty, we can’t compare Obama to them.
We have a history to write and doing it together is more productive and will get more accomplished than doing it apart. So why not unite together for some common ground instead of holding out for the little we don’t agree on?
