President-elect Barack Obama named his energy and environmental chiefs and vowed a new dawn for US leadership on combating climate change after eight years of Republican foot-dragging.
Obama nominated Nobel Prize-winning physicist Steven Chu as his energy secretary, placing the renewable energy expert on the frontlines of climate change policy and ending the nation’s “addiction” to foreign oil.
“This will be a leading priority of my presidency and a defining test of our time. We can’t afford complacency nor accept more broken promises,” Obama told reporters.
“We won’t create a new energy economy overnight. We won’t protect our environment overnight. But we can begin that work right now if we think anew and if we act anew.”

Chu’s appointment “should send a signal to all that my administration will value science,” Obama added. “We will make decisions based on facts, and we understand that the facts demand bold action.”
Joining Chu will be Lisa Jackson, the New Jersey governor’s chief of staff, as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Obama also appointed Carol Browner, who served as EPA administrator under president Bill Clinton, to the new job of White House “climate czar” overseeing the battle against global warming.

My hope is that this bureaucracy becomes a well-padded nothing zone.
Otherwise we can look forward to more meaningless screaming media monopoly propaganda hopefully without the tax increase that will be passed on to YOU.

Can we have this in Spanish please, Mr. Obama? After all, with millions of illegal aliens being let into the country and the resulting consumption of resource destroying our wilderness areas..I assure you’ll only be too eager to address this issue. And pigs will fly first.

It is my opinion that Obama promises everything yet practically delivers on nothing..this week, it’s promising action on ‘protecting’ the environment. Sounds like double-talk: protect the minority of rich people who want a global agenda..tax the rest of us. If these people honestly cared about this country and this planet they wouldn’t be making promises – they would be making history, and by the time we get to see what they have actually done it will be too late; we’ll simply see yet another blabber-mouth sitting in the Whitehouse telling us he’s the next best thing since sliced bread.
Mr. Obama, we’ve seen it before..heard it before. In fact we’ve seen so much of these promises that it does not take a genius to read between the lines and see you’re full of crap (in my opinion – and whilst it still legal to have one.)
Have a nice day.

LOL….yes sirree…..and global warming caused my hot flashes. The blood sucking vermin can kiss my Southern grits, or do they cause global warming too?
What a joke.
“They” shouldn’t be worrying about made up crap, they should be worried about millions of good Americans taking our country back.
They best high tail it out of this country, because one day…we’re all gonna sit around and whoop your hind ends.
All of these great American men from machine shop workers, welders, coal miners, truckers, ex vets, and more…they are some rough old cobs and the majority of our military men will fight with us. Blood is thicker than water pond scum blood sucking vermin.
They start it up, we will finish it.
