A bunch of people on this site are whiney brats trying to figure out why their life isn’t working – do something, get involved. Since when was community service unpatriotic? Especially when your given the opportunity to give in the way you see fit. You think this shit should just be handed to you? Brats!

I DO like the idea of a compulsory service. But as with everything, moderation and transparency are key… and ill list my reasons for clarity.
The idea of an 18-25 yr old compulsory service is a good idea to me becouse:::
1) Knowledge. a term of sevice gives you unprecidented insight into the workings of your government and that particulor orginization. Disaster preparedness. Emergency action. your own psysical and mental limits, and yes… weapons, vehicle, skillset training.
2)Discipline. I look at my peers and notice a lack of gumption and discipline. Military/Civil service can and likely will instill confidence and discipline in young people. dont view the term discipline negatively, the saying “i will teach you to fight after you learn WHEN to fight” also comes to mind.
3)Brotherhood. wouldnt it be nice to look across your generation and know that your peers had all undergone the same ordeal as you. like members of the military and the Veterans before them you could look around and say “you know what i went through”.
4)Duty. I feel that if you participate in you government you get a true feel for what you should truly fight for. the constitution! the bill of rights! your fellow Americans. NOT Citizens.. i dont speak of the incorporated America your SS card represents.

… But like I said MODERATION and TRANSPARENCY! give young people the right to opt out of military MOS’s that specify combat. if you dont believe in harming others, you shouldnt have to. there are thousands of other places you are welcome to fit in. Include Civil organizations like Police and Firefighters as options. Even allow organizations like the DOT and DOD as options. I know a number of aspiring black hats(hackers) that the DOD would drool over given the knowledge… and what hacker wouldnt love DOD supercomputing backing and basically a privateer commission to attack whole countries infrastructures?..
ALSO! If a time comes that unrest is necessary and we unify to depose the oligarcal stagnacy and manipulation of truth… it’d be nice if we all knew what we’re doing I dont want just any punk trying to fire an M-16… they might shoot me in the arse since i’ll be up front…
but i digress…

… given freedom of choice inside of it and proper civilian regulation I believe its a good idea

yahhh, well this compulsory service I think is a great idea. When they find that the majority of young people are too sick to serve maybe they’ll finally look up into the fucking clouds.
