Update at bottom: Palin currently being investigated for abuse of office
“Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a self-styled “hockey mom” who has only been governor for a little over a year, is GOP Presidential candidate John McCain’s choice for Vice President,” CNBC reported early Friday.
According to a Republican strategist, Palin is the nominee, though McCain’s campaign has not confirmed this.
Fox News Channel and CNN also confirmed on live TV.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
Earlier in the day, Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Gov. Mitt Romney each privately admitted they’d been ruled out.
Palin, 44, is younger than Sen. Barack Obama and has bucked her own party on some issues, such as pork-barrel spending. According to Marketwatch, she’s “taken a keen issue in energy and environmental issues.”
“A former Miss Alaska runner-up, Palin holds a degree in journalism and has five children, including one with Down Syndrome.”
Palin’s selection may denote a McCain strategy to siphon off disaffected female voters from Sen. Barack Obama, who some Hillary Clinton supporters see as slighting her base by not putting her name in the running for his VP slot.
Among Palin’s major backers has been New York Times columnist and Fox News contributor Bill Kristol. Writing of Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and Palin, Kristol wrote Aug. 4: “They’re very popular with conservatives, especially social conservatives. And they’re real reformers. They’ve begun to do in Baton Rouge and Juneau what many voters would like to see done in Washington. Principled conservatism and vigorous reform could be a winning combination.”
“McCain himself… is intrigued by the bolder possibilities of youth or bipartisanship,” Kristol added. “And he could be especially intrigued by Sarah Palin and Meg Whitman. I run into plenty of moderate and conservative women who don’t consider themselves feminists but would be pleased to see a qualified woman on the ticket.”
Palin currently being investigated for abuse of office
The Associated Press reports, “More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska’s public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.”
The commissioner, Walt Monegan, was fired on July 11, because Palin “wanted to take the department in a new direction,” according to Bloomberg. “Monegan than alleged that he had been pressured to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, who was married to Palin’s sister and was involved in a contentious divorce, according to the Anchorage Daily News.”
The Bloomberg story continues, “Palin has denied any wrongdoing. The state Legislature voted on July 28 to hire an independent investigator to probe whether Palin, her family or members of her administration had pressured Monegan to fire Wooten, according to the Daily News.”
“Palin hasn’t been implicated in the four-year-old federal corruption investigation, which has resulted in convictions of or guilty pleas from three state legislators, Murkowski’s former chief of staff and two executives of an oil-services company, as well as the indictment of Senator Ted Stevens,” Bloomberg’s report concludes.
Last month a Democratic official told the Wall Street Journal that Palin was facing possible impeachment.
“This is a governor who was almost impervious to error,” Hollis French, a Democratic state senator told the Journal. “Now she could face impeachment, in a worst-case scenario.”

So, what’s the dirt on Palin or is she as perfect as everyone seems to think. This article doesn’t show me much dirt.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:51 am
HURRY, HURRY,
IMPEACH HER FAST !
she can’t be honest to get where she is in just two years.
August 29th, 2008 at 11:18 am

August 29th, 2008 at 11:23 am

Imagine a an NYPD cop being named Chief of Police after one year of service. That would be crazy and certainly smack of corruption and someone pulling strings from the top. How about a fireman with one year on the job being promoted to Chief Engineer of the Fire Department. How could they put the public at risk? No, that would pretty much the same situation as with the police department; corruption for sure. Think about a guy in the mail room at Apple being promoted to Steve Jobs’ spot. Corruption and potentially blackmail would be considered with that one. Imagine someone with one year of political experience being the Vice President of the United States under a very elderly President if elected. No, that’s different. That one’s perfectly okay. Go back home, nothing to see here, folks.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
She wouldn’t be selected if she were honest.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
i am Ron Paul delegate from Alaska, I am in St. Paul currently. I have said to many people that Palin would be McCains VP….. I really like Palin a lot, you said this article doesnt show any dirt on her???? that is because there is no dirt on her. They always bring up the issue when she fired former public safety commissioner… thats old hat he NEEDED to go.
I can honestly say that she is a true reformer, not part of the NWO. She will honestly expose that old man McCain!!!
-Ron
August 29th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
dont misunderstand me though!!! I am still going to write in Ron Paul… but with Palin I think they can/will beat Obama
August 29th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
damn…i was class president of my high school. i didn’t realize i had a shot at the VP nomination.
August 29th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
She won the Governor’s office with 115,000 votes. Prior to that she served two terms on a city council and was mayor of a town with a population of 5,500 people. The extent of her education is a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
I’m sorry, but I don’t believe for a second that she has either political savvy or anywhere near the political experience to somehow pull anything over on McCain or the Republican party. To suggest that any true Ron Paul supporter should somehow considering casting a ballot for the McCain ticket due to Palin being his VP, in my humble opinion, is detrimental to the entire foundation of the revolution that Dr. Paul established.
August 29th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Or even the Presidential nomination, eh americanCaesar.
August 29th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I suppose the best test of this theory that Palin’s VP position should attract Ron Paul supporters would be to see if Ron Paul himself endorses the ticket because of her being on it. I don’t think that will be happening any time soon.
August 29th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
I used to go to an Assemby Of God Church what about me? lol
August 29th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
This Chick was a bad choice! Who is she? What has she accomplished? Let her fucking record speak for itself.yeah.. She has no record to speak of. another worthless nominee shoved down our throats!!FTW
August 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I support Ron Paul and I must say, McCain is really pushing this contest to a new level as I believe many will be leaving the Obama camp soon… She seems to be less ‘Sold Out’ then either Obama or McCain. She is definately not Big Money and its a stealth move to acquire the huge Independent voters that will NOT vote for Obama…
August 29th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Of course she is big money, her husband is tied to a large oil company.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
On the Wonk Room, Ben Furnas reports that, ironically, Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) financial portfolio is managed by none other than financial giant Smith Barney, which helped finance Enron Corp. The “reform-minded” Palin has now signed up to vouch for McCain’s Norquist agenda of $300 billion in tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
They just said on Olberman the trooper was a wife beater who tasered her 11 year old nephew. Good for her.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
as for the husband being a “wife beater”. well I am SUSPICIOUS. What better way to cast the SPOTLIGHT from Palin onto the trooper and making the trooper looking like the bad guy.
maybe he is a bad guy but as USUAL SOMETHING SMELLS HERE. Think about it. make the husband a WIFE and CHILD BEATER” and now Palin looks like a “saint” for trying to help her sister.
ANYONE connected to McCain, Krystal and the rest of that CABAL is BAD NEWS and CORRUPT.. Besides these people only hang out wit CROOKS and LIARS.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
Palin is an incredibly savvy political choice for McCain. She has practically no dirt and in AK has been known to be a no bullshit, no lobbyist, no kickbacks Governor.
She worked hard against Frank Murkowski , getting a fair deal for alaskans on oil drilling when he was totally corrupt and screwing alaskans and oil companies in favor of personal kickbacks and appointed his daughter to the Senate in the most extreme case of nepotism ever seen. Understand, winning AK by 115,000 votes is in a state of only about 500,000 possible voters.
Also, Palin knows oil and gas inside out and will push for drilling in the Arctic Refuge, making her a huge asset to people who want oil independence and for the oil companies themselves. She will cast a fair deal here, for all.
I cant even BELIEVE McCain was smart enough to put her up, how he even found her is amazing. Not only does it syphon off disgruntled Hillary supporters, but also adds oil and gas to McCains ticket in a big way.
This IS a big political coup on McCains part, lest you think too rashly. She lends him credibility, gender equality, a touch of honesty. She actually mellows his anger and flippant rhetorical style, a total asset.
Do not write her off until you know more about her, and do not make assumptions until you know the real details, Raw Story aside, they’ve never been able to pin any wrong doing on Pailn, regardless that even the powers that be right wing tried to take her down for governorship without ANY success.
McCain may just have made his winning decision here.
Alaskans have loved Sarah Palin, as a first , less corrupt Governor they had seen in a long time, of the utterly corrupt in government-Frank Murkowski, his daughter Lisa Murkowski, Ted Stevens, Ben Stevens…..all total lying, thieving pricks
August 29th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Funnier than an Anti-Obama ad calling women “lame cherry”? Which is rather insulting toward women. It’s right up there with the pro-rape and child rape jokes.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Everything that happens in the world is always something else. You people are so insane that I am ready to go back to not listening to ALex or you.
A soon to be former supporter of ALex Jones and friends.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Dont get me wrong! I dont buy either band of thieves, but as a political analyst , its interesting. Ive known about Palin having lived in AK, and just because you are chosen doesnt mean you had anything to do with McCain previously.
Im almost sure she is as shocked as we are about the nomination.
Lack of experience is maybe? an issue, however, we have had the ‘experienced’ and totally corrupt for a long time.
Actually, the VERY BEST we could hope for is that McCain croaks mid term and Sarah Palin DOES become President! Check out her record!

O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray And confuse the direction of your paths.
Thank God we’re not a Christian country.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
So, no NWO-Farmer, are you actually suggesting that because she is his VP selection, we should somehow consider casting our ballot for McCain? Please tell me what political connections she could possibly rely upon in Washington? Oh, wait a minute, that’s right, she doesn’t have any. It seems to me that you are saying exactly what they hoped her nomination would cause you to say. She will have no real power in D.C., and her political usefulness will cease as soon as McCain wins. I certainly respect your opinion, my friend, but I’m afraid you are being sold a car that doesn’t run and is rusted out because the slick salesman is focusing your attention on a new set of seat covers.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
I beleive that somebody has been watching the television show *Commander-in-Chief* staring Genna Davis.
This choice looks to be strangely similar to the script of that show.
Anyway no matter who wins the election (if it is at all held) will do as they are told and keep quiet about. The real power is held by those with dual citizenships.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
It looks like MCcain is looking for someone with a low profile .A person that is not knowledgeable on Washington protocol. Someone that will sit on the side lines and keep her mouth shut,While the
top dog is is wheeling and dealing and racking in all the big contracts.I’ll be honest I don’t know a great deal about her,but anyone that would take a job on the MCcain team can’t be that good.

Ever hear of the demon called Baal aka Beelzebub? You know, that guy Jesus admonished, also, known as the demon who starts wars.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beelzebub
Matthew 10.25.
Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. If Satan drives out Lucifer, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. (NIV translation)

August 29th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
lets be honest, all this is is a STAGE with ONE MORE PUPPET. As someone else mentioned it is just to get the women voters who do not like Obama.
It really does not matter WHICH MONKEY LOSER gets elected, we still get a MONKEY LOSER who has SOLD THEIR SOUL to the NWO.
i will also add that it appears LIES and CORRUPTION do seem to SURROUND this women. If it were just ONE person you could say, well that doesn’t amount to much, then when there is 2 your eyes should start to open and then when you learn there are THREE, the hairs on your arms should raise up and then when you find out there is even investigation going on about HER with this firing of a former BROTHER IN-LAW, a LOGICAL person has to say that is ENOUGH to say that she would NOT be the best person to help lead a country or ANY public office which is supposed to UPHOLD, TRUTH, JUSTICE, HONESTY and INTEGRITY.
But of course our country is not run with ANY of those things so she will fit right in.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Is this another case of a sock puppet they want out of office? Maybe a case of political pressure to get the non-conformist out of office? It does not pay to buck your own party.

There is a narrow segment of our population that believes that doing anything to serve their faith is justified, even if those actions violate the law. Many of these people could not support McCain before he selected the homophobic, anti-choice, ethically-challenged Palin to the VP role.
Now these people — many of whom have wormed their way into the election machinery of the United States — have a reason to facilitate the massive election fraud that will be required to insure a continuation of this criminal cabal. We have already seen election corruption originating in the Justice department where grads fresh from Bob Jones University put prosecutors with distinguished careers through a litmus loyalty test to determine if they were fit to continue to serve.
Those who focus on Palin’s lack of qualifications for election to the critical role a heartbeat away from the Presidency miss the point — Her purpose is to energize and mobilize those that will facilitate the stealing of the third Presidential election in a row.

The nomination of Palin is purely for show. The superficiality that Americans have been voting on for decades has now taken human form in all four of both parties candidates… Yeah, McCain’s banking that women will vote for him because he has a woman VP. He’s probably right. Most Americans think they’re getting “change” from a different race or gender. That is how shallow and utterly stupid people are. The superficial, inconsequential things change as a guise for the policies to stay the same without braindead Americans noticing or caring.

I didn’t want McCain to win before, and now I sure as hell don’t! What dumbass picks Palin? I mean, if he wanted a female runner, wouldn’t it make more sence to pick someone who isn’t lacking so much? Seriously, what justifies that in his mind? Are they sleeping together or what?
