Even if the United States meets its Dec. 31 troop withdrawal deadline, private security forces, intelligence agents and unmanned drone aircraft would likely continue to operate in Iraq under the Obama administration, Ron Paul said Saturday.
“I predict we will be very, very much involved in Iraq,” the GOP presidential candidate said during a town hall meeting in downtown Des Moines. “I think it will be unstable for a long time to come, and we will continue to spend a lot of money in Iraq.”
Paul’s comment drew a round of applause. He has committed to remove all U.S. troops and operatives from Iraq, Afghanistan and other foreign nations if elected.
