In the real world, strong banks that made good decisions should thrive and weak banks which made dumb investments and lending decision should fail.
But in the parallel universe inhabited by Sec Treasury Paulson, the wealthiest banks as well as poor banks should all get bucket loads of money so consumers won’t know which are weak and which are strong, but will keep on banking with the weak banks. As CNBC writes:
“Nine of the largest U.S. banks were essentially arm-twisted last week into signing on for the first $125 billion in capital infusions in an attempt to remove the stigma that participating banks need the funds to survive.”
In the real world, banks aren’t lending, and they’ve admitted that - no matter how much the government throws at them - they won’t lend in the foreseeable future.
But in Paulson’s parallel universe, the banks will be cheerfully handing out loans loans left and right to every mom and pop who politely ask:
“Our purpose is to increase confidence in our banks and increase the confidence of our banks, so that they will deploy, not hoard, their capital. And we expect them to do so, as increased confidence will lead to increased lending,” Paulson said on Monday.
In Paulson’s reality, everything is working out just fine. But in the real world where the rest of us live, the real problems aren’t being addressed, and the bailouts are only making problems worse.

Paulson’s theory is makes perfect sense in la la land. Because naturally, people aren’t greedy or fearful, and everyone always does the right thing because they care.
Someone should ask Paulson if believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny because his plan is going to need someone to sprinkle some fairy dust on it in order for it to work.

this is rediculous. #2 has it right just add greenspan to Bernanke Bush and Paulson and you have the largest 4 domestic terrorists ever, oh wait lets not forget John McCain and Lord Obama!

But now they have agreed to 2.1 Billion loan, everything is hunky dory.

HEY OUT THERE…. I live next to the windsor detroit tunnel….i go thru the almost everyday and have noticed something that is very disturbing…. Im an vision system engineer for the big three installing vision systems that inspect parts being made…. In the last week i’ve notice that they where installing a new vision license plate recognition system …. but the other thing i noticed yesterday was they had faced to camera’s towards the driver side window and front windshield…. they have completed two lanes so far….. as i was waiting my turn to get to the booth, the lane next to me was working and i noticed the red flash of red led’s against the paint of the car…. it was taking a picture of the driver as he passed a sensor on the ground….i thought it was illegal to take pictures of someone with out there consent on private property…..this really is bullshit….when i got to the booth i asked the border guard what they where taking pictures of peoples faces for… he then looked at me very funny and said how did i know that…. so i told him that i was a vision engineer… he then started to ask me a whole bunch of questions like i was some crimal….. i know now that they are making a database of peoples faces with there respected vehicle plate and make of car….. the system is diffenately a facial recognition system…… the marshall law scenario is getting closer and closer….. and the other thing is that these guys where really kicking ass to get it done….. usually for goverment jobs they take there time…. but its only been a week…. and there almost done…… its coming…. i feel it….using my knowledge and logic……. buy food….and arm your self quickly before its too late……peace to all is what it should be……

In 1997, Chao slammed the Chinagate probe and its media coverage for singling out Asians. McConnell fought the hearings chaired by then Sen. Fred Thompson.
AIG owns a large percentage of the People’s Insurance Company of CHINA.
Hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars of the Bail Out are ultimately going to FOREIGN investors – mostly Chinese, according to Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Calif. “They know it, they Demanded it, and the bill has been carefully written to make sure that can happen,” he said.
With all this history in mind, the question becomes not why did the Senate Republican leader jump on the Bail-out wagon, it becomes why didn’t McConnell excuse himself from the negotiations and vote on the BailOut because of a blatant CONFLICT OF INTEREST?
But he didn’t.
In fact, McConnell helped lead the charge.
He became the ‘Point man’ in the U.S. Senate to persuade Republicans, who might otherwise be slightly more inclined to be skeptical of U.S. Taxpayer bailouts of FOREIGN Creditors, to go along with the swindle.
Yes the Sell Out Bail Out 2008 was basically a primer to keep the CHINESE at bay and keep them from pushing our economy down. Of course Bushies know that without the COMMUNIST Support of the US Economy the Fed may just well be replaced as many have predicted is necessary if we are going to completely CLEAN HOUSE. That includes Paulson’s Resignation as well.

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show was particularly incensed by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s coy reluctance to accept taxpayers’ money unless his decision on how to spend it are made “non-reviewable.”
“Before we hand this Munster-esque unelected official 700 BILLION no-strings-attached-dollars,” Stewart remarked, “there is one thing you should know –this financial guru never saw it coming.”
“I’ve got great confidence in our financial market,” Paulson stated last March. “Our Markets are resilient, are flexible. Our Institutions, our Banks, and Investment Banks, are strong.”
Stewart turned next to “Daily Show” analyst John Oliver, saying, “After Katrina, after Iraq… I didn’t think there was another area that these guys could screw up.”
“It wasn’t easy,” Oliver replied, “It was like finding a vein on a failure junkie.”
“Is this economic crisis, then, sort of the turd icing on this administration’s shitcake?” Stewart wondered.
“You’re saying the president here won’t be satisfied until American children are eating roadkill?” suggested Stewart.
“Until they’re fighting over roadkill,” Oliver emphasized. “Until roadkill is the prize for the strongest.”

Shut Down the Federal Reserve - (the only solution to the financial crisis)
With depression at the doorstep, it is time to fire the Federal Reserve. Western economies are on the brink of total collapse; only prompt, decisive and radical measures can prevent complete world economic ruin. Ironically, Russia and China are in a much better position to weather this up-coming storm than western countries.
The American rescue plan plodded through Congress and the world was hopeful when the $700 billion package went through. Alas, any relief was very short-lived and the package sent the share markets into even more pronounced gyrations.
Despite the whole rescue package being ill conceived, the pundits foolishly applauded the upward surge in the share markets. The recent rescue package was designed to give the ruling elite back money they used to artificially prop up the share markets. The package is a short-sighted, band-aid measure that helps secure the seats of incumbent politicians. But, the main beneficiaries of all these are the ruling elite and their Federal Reserve.
The failed rescue package was immediately followed by piece-meal assistance for certain individual banks. This gave the market a temporary boost. Again, it was short-lived. These volatile market swings should offer no comfort to anyone except speculators, who are becoming richer at the expense of everyone else.
The band aids will not help the economic crisis. There is a systemic problem. The Federal Reserve and all the central banks in the world that are designed on its model are defrauding the people of the world.
There is no rational reason why the U.S. Congress cannot print its own currency. The Congress was intimidated, bribed and blackmailed into creating and maintaining the Federal Reserve Bank. The Federal Reserve was awarded a contract to manage the currency in America. The cost of that contract to the U.S. has been $10 trillion in national debt.
To try to cover for the Federal Reserve’s greedy fraud, many countries are being forced to pay into the Federal Reserve coffers to keep the world economy afloat. One of the ways they are being forced to pay is through devaluation of their currencies with respect to the U.S. dollar, which is a way of building up America at the expense of others in the world.
All of the band-aid measures will fail. The problem is the Federal Reserve, which concept is founded upon debt-based currency and fraud. It must be closed down or it will continue to suck the resources of the U.S. with its currency management contract. The American government could do the Federal Reserve’s job for virtually nothing, and save the U.S. taxpayers between $200 and $900 billion each year in interest off a debt that will never be paid off.
Since the U.S. cannot pay off the debt, the rest of the world is being called in to assist in the maintenance of the Federal Reserve. Further, many other nations have similar central banks, so they are also paying their respective national debts on their currencies in addition to being asked to fund the U.S. currency debt.
It is time to let the U.S. currency debt fail, close down the Federal Reserve entirely, and begin on the road to correcting the fraud that lies deep in world economic affairs. It is time to shut down every central bank that mirrors the Federal Reserve. It is time that the people stop feeding the ruling elite through their central banks. Obama and McCain are offering no real solutions whatsoever. They are both staying within the band-aid scenarios that support the Federal Reserve.
The Federal Reserve is a cancer that has nearly killed the entire world economy. That cancer must be surgically removed from the world’s economy, or it will soon kill the patient. There is no other viable alternative at this late stage. If either candidate, McCain or Obama, will pledge to eradicate the Federal Reserve, all freedom-loving people should get behind that candidate. If neither of them will take down the Federal Reserve, the world’s economic doom is sealed.

#22 >>> The biometrics in place at the Windsor-Detroit tunnel are part of a larger initiative called the Smart Border Initiative. The purpose is, as stated in the documents, to ease the border congestion and increase the flow of goods and people across land, air and sea crossings. IMO, it sounds like one step closer to a collapse of the borders and the sovereignty of Canada.
Check out the link below for a pretty comprehensive list of the biometric projects either already in place or planned for Canada. (The scary part was Alberta using biometrics and facial recognition for DLs since 2004 and the proposal to have a National ID card! I’m glad I am as far away from Alberta as you can get and still live in Canada!)

U.S. and Texas Law on Independent Militias
Our duty as citizens
Most American citizens are aware that the U.S. Constitution guarantees certain rights and limits the powers of government. However, it also imposes certain duties, not only on organs of government, but on each citizen. One of these duties is to function as members of the Militia, and the state has the duty to organize and train citizens to so serve.
The U.S. Constitution provides for this in Article I, Section 8:
Congress shall have power …
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
The Framers contemplated that the citizens who compose the Militia would provide their own weapons, which is reflected in the Second Amendment:
A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
It is important to understand that the prevailing practice at the time the Constitution was adopted was for people in each locality to organize as independent local militias and to train themselves. The only change the Framers sought to make was to make this organization and training more systematic, along the model of Switzerland. They never imagined that future governments might try to restrict the local organization and training of independent militias by contending that people had the right to assemble and the right to keep and bear arms, but not to combine the two rights. To them that would have seemed absurd.
U.S. legislation on the Militia
In 1792 President Washington tried to get Congress to fully implement the constitutional requirement for organizing and training the Militia, but Congress, wanting to avoid the expense imposed on the states, only agreed to pass a law that required every able-bodied [free] male to keep a “musket or firelock”. This was the Militia Act of 1792. By failing to require organization and training, it laid the basis for the decline of the Militia tradition.
In 1903, the Militia Act of 1792 was superseded by the Dick Act, which established the National Guard system, and made a distinction between the “organized” and “unorganized” Militia, reflecting the attitude that the Powers that Be didn’t want most of the people to get organized as independent militias, despite the support for universal military training from most U.S. Presidents up to the administration of Harry Truman.
The Dick Act is encoded in 10 USC:
United Stated Code (USC)
TITLE 10–ARMED FORCES
Section 311. Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists
of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are commissioned officers of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are–
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
Section 312. Militia duty: exemptions
(a) The following persons are exempt from militia duty:
(1) The Vice President.
(2) The judicial and executive officers of the United States, the several States and Territories, Puerto Rico, and the Canal Zone.
(3) Members of the armed forces, except members who are not on active duty.
(4) Customhouse clerks.
(5) Persons employed by the United States in the transmission of mail.
(6) Workers employed in armories, arsenals, and naval shipyards of the United States.
(7) Pilots on navigable waters.
(8) Mariners in the sea service of a citizen of, or a merchant in, the United States.
(b) A person who claims exemption because of religious belief is exempt from militia duty in a combatant capacity, if the conscientious holding of that belief is established under such regulations as the President may prescribe. However, such a person is not exempt from militia duty that the President determines to be noncombatant.
TITLE 32–NATIONAL GUARD
Section 313. Appointments and enlistments: age limitations
(a) To be eligible for original enlistment in the National Guard, a person must be at least 17 years of age and under 45, or under 64 years of age and a former member of the Regular Army, Regular Navy, Regular Air Force, or Regular Marine Corps. To be eligible for reenlistment, a person must be under 64 years of age.
(b) To be eligible for appointment as an officer of the National Guard, a person must–
(1) be a citizen of the United States; and
(2) be at least 18 years of age and under 64.
It should be understood that these definitions apply only to the Militia that is subject to call-up by the federal government, and states may require other people to perform militia duty, with different age ranges and exemptions.
Texas law on the Militia
The Texas Constitution once had a strong provision regarding militias:
Article 16. Section 46.
The Legislature shall provide by law for organizing and disciplining the militia of the State, in such manner as they shall deem expedient, not incompatible with the Constitution and Laws of the United States.
This section was deleted. The effect of this is that such authority reverts back to local communities.
Present statutes are encoded in Texas Government Code Chapter 431:
Subchapter A. General Provisions
431.001. Definitions
In this chapter:
(1) “Reserve militia” means the persons liable to serve, but not serving, in the state military forces.
(2) “State militia” means the state military forces and the reserve militia.
(3) “State military forces” means the Texas National Guard, the Texas State Guard, and any other active militia or military force organized under state law.
(4) “Texas National Guard” means the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard.
431.010. Organization Prohibited
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), a body of persons other than the regularly organized state military forces or the troops of the United States may not associate as a military company or organization or parade in public with firearms in a municipality of the state.
(b) With the consent of the governor, students in an educational institution at which military science is a prescribed part of the course of instruction and soldiers honorably discharged from the service of the United States may drill and parade with firearms in public.
(c) This section does not prevent a parade by the active militia of another state as provided by law.
Subchapter D. Texas State Guard
431.051. Supplemental Militia
To provide militia strength for use by the state as a supplement to the Texas National Guard, the Texas State Guard exists as part of the state militia under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and a defense force under 32 U.S.C. Section 109.
Subchapter F. Service and Duties
431.081. Persons Subject to Military Duty; Persons Not Eligible to Enlist
(a) A person is subject to military duty if the person is:
(1) able-bodied;
(2) a citizen or a person of foreign birth who has declared an intent to become a citizen;
(3) a resident of the state;
(4) at least 18 and not more than 60 years of age; and
(5) not exempt under Subsection (b) or (c) or United States law.
(b) A person is exempt from military duty, except in case of war, insurrection, invasion, or imminent danger of war, insurrection, or invasion if the person is:
(1) the lieutenant governor;
(2) a member or officer of the legislature;
(3) a judge or clerk of a court of record;
(4) a head of a state agency;
(5) a sheriff, district attorney, county attorney, county tax assessor-collector, or county commissioner;
(6) a mayor, council member, alderman, or assessor and collector of a municipality;
(7) an officer or employee of the Texas Department of Corrections, a state hospital or special school, a public or private hospital, or a nursing home;
(8) a member of a regularly organized and paid fire or police department in a municipality, except that a person is not relieved of military duty by joining such a department;
(9) a minister of the gospel exclusively engaged in that calling; or
(10) a person who conscientiously scruples against bearing arms.
(c) A mentally disabled person, vagabond, confirmed alcoholic, narcotics addict, or a person convicted of an infamous crime is exempt from military duty regardless of circumstances.
Now, what about that Section 431.010 prohibiting military companies or organizations or parades within municipalities? It clearly expresses hostility to independent local militias within municipalities, but it has no penalties, and does not apply to rural areas. It’s main intent seems to be to discourage local officials from calling up the militia.
The only statutes which local officials might invoke against a militia muster within a municipality would be those against exhibiting a firearm in a way that “alarms” the public. However, centuries of common law makes it clear that merely carrying firearms is not to be considered “alarming”. The arms must actually be brandished toward someone in a threatening manner. This would not prevent arrests on this ground, of course, but successful prosecution is unlikely if the courts follow the law and the Constitution.
Some of these points are more fully discussed in 29 Tex. Jur., Sections 4 and 5, and in 12 Tex. Jur. 3d., Sections 12-28.
The only significant case law involving this statute is a federal case, Vietnamese Fishermen’s Ass’n v. Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (D.C. 1982) 543 F.Supp. 198, in which the plaintiff invoked the state statute in a federal suit for injunction against the defendant. The injunction was granted, and the judge took advantage of the case to write an opinion on the interpretation of the state statute. However, that opinion has no stare decisis effect, because this was not an appeal, nor was the judgement appealed. The injunction was properly granted under common law against intimidation, but a federal judge had no real business interpreting state law. However, it is indicative of how that judge might decide the constitutional issues in other cases. The case does, however, underscore the importance of distinguishing between private associations and public militias, and of making sure that any constitutional militias that may be organized take care not to take on the attributes of a private group. Too many people, including authorities, have examples in mind like the KKK, and we must always make sure to distance ourselves from such partisan organizations, and, indeed, indicate that the suppression of such groups is one of the things that a real militia might be called up to do.
There is another statute that arguably involves the Militia, the Texas Disaster Act of 1975, which has among its purposes, “providing an emergency management system embodying all aspects of predisaster preparedness and postdisaster response. See 12 Tex. Jur. 3d. Sections 51-53. If fully implemented, the organization of local militia units seems to be required under this Act.
Conclusions
Present U.S. and Texas law clearly fail to implement the requirements for organizing and training the Militia established by the Framers. However, we must also recognize that this failure goes all the way back to 1792, and that such organizing and training are, therefore, left to the people themselves, in the form of independent local militias, which they have a constitutional duty to maintain in a high state of preparedness, even if they get little support from the authorities, and indeed, especially if they get opposition from the authorities.
You have your (DICK ACT) of 1792!

Thank you for alerting us to these chaotic “solutions”. There is a saying, “Don’t throw good money into a bad investment.” We need change! Much of our economic woes are due to falling incomes, lost jobs, and inflation which are hurting the buying power of the poor and middle class. It all stems back to electing leaders who don’t watch out for the interests of our citizens. I’m voting for Chuck Baldwin for President as he supports obeying the Constitution. He also supports bringing back reasonable tariffs and protecting our borders and workers. “He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” (from the Bible, 2nd Samuel, 23:3)

Some of you arent being fair. Put yourself in Paulson’s shoes… he used to make big money for his ‘investors’ and now he cant seem to make any right decision. Now he is viewed as Bernake a bumbling idiot whose words precipitate a fall. Give him a break he is only trying to save a “FLAWED” system from the corruption that has permeated every ounce of the Wall Street Gambling Market. If that is Failure, where would we be as a country without his guidance and lobbying for more Taxpayer Bail Outs in the Future? Someone has to sell this crap and it might as well be a former Big Money Manager who still has some interest in Goldman Sachs to make them some more money on the way out. Yes, we look out for our own!

There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories! Every piece of Greek parchment shall be burned. Every Greek historian, and every scribe shall have their eyes pulled out, and their tongues cut from their mouths. Why, uttering the very name of Sparta, or Leonidas, will be punishable by death! The world will never know you existed at all!

Gasoline is now about a penny cheaper than it was a year ago, and about $1.33 less than it was at a record peak in July.
“The drop is unprecedented,” Lundberg said in an interview. “It was dictated by the crash in crude oil prices and deepened powerfully by falling U.S. gasoline demand.”
Oil settled down nearly $4 a barrel on Friday on broader worries about a global economic recession, despite an agreement by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut output.

All the liquidity in the world isn’t going to solve this problem. They will just hoard it and/or pay their upper management more.
The problem is that credit was allowed by a U.S. Government ruled by Democrats and Republicans to grow unregulated. But worse than that they allowed the creation of financial instruments that no one knows the value of, causing a balance sheet valuation problem.
Credit can’t expand forever and once it started to contract everything began growing in reverse, destructively. The lack of credit regulation made it far worse due to leverage. But even worse than that is that no one trusts the balance sheets of any of these companies. Who knows if they will be around tomorrow? So who would lend them money? How can these companies recover even with government help?
I think the most the government can do is slow the fall at a huge price which includes foreign aide giveaways, meaningless wars, and heavy pork. Thanks Democrats and Republicans for completely ignoring history and I know we will re-elect you! We trust you!
