We’ve just gotten comment from Gov. Perry’s press spokesman on the governor’s apparent interest in seceding from the union. It’s pretty vague but basically it seems like he’s saying no need to secede for now. But in the future, who knows. Basically it was vague blah, blah sort walking back the controversy but not actually denying or walking back from anything. We’ll have the details shortly.
Late Update: Chris Matthews has Tom DeLay on Hardball and they’re going back and forth on Perry’s flirtation with taking Texas out of the United States. DeLay did admit that secession is against the law and can’t happen. But after saying that he actually seems pretty into the idea. And now they have a clip for Rush getting on the bandwagon too. From it seems like the Republicans, now centered heavily in the South, have found their issue to come back into power in the US — building up a head of steam to leave the country altogether.

He was just speaking the words. You see THEY are not going to stop the freedom movement. That’s not how they roll. They are going to coopt, take over the freedom movement, divide it and collapse it from within.

He was being a politician and playing to the crowd. However, you did see that it made some people pay attention. We need to keep the pressure on our Federal government and remind them why they are in office, and that is to represent the citizens of the United States of America, not special interest, lobbyist, illegal immigrants, the elite or governments of other countries!!!!
April 17th, 2009 at 6:12 am
The paleos are going home. Let them all secede into their little fascist state.
April 17th, 2009 at 7:00 am
I keep seeing how secession is against the law and Un-American. To me it’s the most American of ideal’s, being willing to stand up and say NO! Besides how can you “secede” from a union that, by all indication, the Federal government has disolved itself citing “national” powers and the ability to legislate for all. It’s not a union of individual states, if the states have no rights, power, or say in the country.
The Union and Constitution are dead, and the Fed Coats killed it

I heard that Perry attended Bilderberg. If he did then he’s NOT with us, he’s just a player. I don’t think he’s serious but only “craw-fishing.” I don’t trust him.
I think we need to seceed. But then I also know that if we did, the NWO would only nuke us because they won’t tollerate dissent.
AND HOW DARE anyone even say that seceeding is illegal !! EVERYTHING THE GOV’T. IS DOING IS ILLEGAL!!!!

Gee. How patriotic you are.

If there is a state we can live without, Texas is certainly the one. Texas gave us the Kennedy assassination, LBJ, and the two presidents, Bushes–not to mention Jeb! (the exclamation mark is part of his name) and the failure of the savings and loan associations. Nixon was financed out of Texas, and taken down by Texans, and, of course, Darth Cheney, himself, spent most of his adult life in Texas, violating the Constitution in accepting the Vice Presidential spot.
April 17th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
Lets see Stryker05 how well you have done your homework?
Fact: Texas didn’t give anyone anything regarding who JFK assassination. -5 for lame generalized associative logic.
Fact: None of the Bush Family was born in Texas (with the exclusion of Laura Bush’s twin daughters). -25 After 8 years of GW you should have already known this! By the way have you ever heard the term “carpetbagger”?
Fact: Texas gave no one any Presidents. LBJ simply got his by being quiet. -10 for more lame associative logic.
Fact: Nixon was taken down by Prescott Bush’s Wall Street Cronies. -15 for just being plain wrong.
Fact: DICK Cheney spent most of his adult life being a henchman for the elitists no matter where he laid his head. -15 for attempting to stretch a moot point with more lame associative logic.
Wow you get a 30…impressive!!
FYI Many Texans, I’m quite sure you don’t know any, have roots dating back to a time when Texas was it’s own country. And are rightly offended but mostly disappointed when people fail to get the facts straight about Texas and it’s core people. And proceed to spread half truths and misinformation based on stereotypes. You see Stryker05 you didn’t really give us any original thoughts here. Just rhetoric If and when Texas does secede We will be sure to Send you “Slick Rick” Perry because we damn sure don’t want him!

I for one have had it with the Government. I support Texas, and DHARMA. He is correct in pointing out the BS supplied by Stryker05 I will be there if the time comes that the great state of Texas leaves the corupt USA. I used to believe in the politicians running America, and the States, but now I only think one thing. A politician is a crook that hasn’r been caught yet. I no longer trust anybody in office, as they are tainted by the greed that comes from the office. Please Note I use my real name not a screen name. Time for all democrats to move out of texas, and into the DC area for protection.

So it is up to Perry, huh? So much for the People of Texas running their own lives and their own state.
Perry ought to be kicked out to the curb with the trash. I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him.
April 17th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Bushie Perry is indeed just playing to the crowd. Remember he vetoed the Texas Legislature’s moratorium on the Trans Texas Corridor (NAFTA Superhighway). According to the Houston Chronicle of Jan 2009, the TTC is now pretty much dead thanks to public outrage
April 17th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
So 30% support secession?? It’s time to begin an aggressive campaign to raise that number to 50-60% and have the referendum.
April 17th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
Unbelievable!!! Secession is against the law?? How ridiculous. Secession is NOT against the law. The Tenth Amendment restates powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people, and that includes the POWER OR RIGHT to secede. What a dupe!

Politicians, delivering only lip service… Say it ain’t so joe.

Perry’s NWO, pretending to care. Really it’s all just more liquid smoke emitting from the left/right fog machine of the corporate media. The Constitution has been reduced in authority to ceremonial, like the congress- just pageantry.
As far as any “disclosure” in this country- well be lucky if we can ascertain the name of Sasha and Malia’s new dog, of course following lengthy grass roots funded FOIA litigation.
According to the corporate media:
Telling the truth is “fear mongering”, and “negativity”
Anyone who protests anything is “anti government”

Look at what is happening, they are tearing this country apart. What did they think, that 300 million people would just sit back and do nothing while they stole and destroyed everything and everyone?
Truth is nothing has even happened yet, but it will, as unemployment sky-rockets, and all systems fail, people will wake up from their sleep and realize they have been looted by free-loading traitors.
People need to prepare. Buy a gun and a lot of ammo, keep plenty of food on hand, and get ready for the collapse of the goverment. It will happen fast, as the fed goes bankrupt and the criminal politicians flee the country.

did anyone ever tie perrys meetings with bilderburg to the uhm.. (damn floride), sigh oh yes the texas corridors?
April 19th, 2009 at 5:48 am
it would be absolutely beautiful if texas broke away from the country. because then the united states could actually invade it. oh, it would be beautiful. texans on the run.
April 19th, 2009 at 6:47 am
Secession from the New World Order would be a much more sensible approach
than an I am going it alone from now on idea. Standing up for states rights is the
simplest way of preventing states from becoming small dictator ran countries.
Any President, Governor, Senator, or Representative of any State of the Union
allowing some offshore banking system to become the ruling party of our nation
should be considered an enemy of the state and tried for treason.
