Phoenix police raid home of blogger whose writing is highly critical of them

In what should send a frightening chill down the spine of every blogger, writer, journalist and First Amendment advocate in the United States, Phoenix police raided the home of a blogger who has been highly critical of the department.
Jeff Pataky, who runs Bad Phoenix Cops, said the officers confiscated three computers, routers, modems, hard drives, memory cards and everything necessary to continue blogging.
The 41-year-old software engineer said they also confiscated numerous personal files and documents relating to a pending lawsuit he has against the department alleging harassment – which he says makes it obvious the raid was an act of retaliation.
Maricopa County Judge Gary Donahoe signed the search warrant that allowed at least ten cops to raid his home in North Phoenix on March 12 while handcuffing his female roommate for three hours as they tore the place apart.
Pataky, who was out of town on a business trip during the raid, also believes police were retaliating against him for the content of his blog, much of it which comes from inside sources within the department.
“They broke into my safe and took the backups of my backups,” he said in a phone interview with Photography is Not a Crime on Wednesday.
“I can’t even file my taxes because all my business plans are gone. They took everything.”
The search warrant lists “petty theft” and “computer tampering with the intent to harass” as probable causes. He has yet to see an actual affidavit that lists in detail the probable cause and is skeptical that one even exists.
“They say everything has been sealed,” he said.
The conflict between Pataky and the Phoenix Police Department began two years ago during “a nasty divorce” after moving out of the house he had shared with his wife. His said she was not taking the divorce too well and began filing false allegations against him accusing him of stalking and harassing her.
Many of the reports she filed accused him of doing things when he was out of town, he said.
So he began filing complaints with everybody from Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon down to Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris to no avail. He was eventually indicted for harassing his ex-wife.
A month before the trial, he and a few friends launched the website as a rant against the police department. When he went to trial in May 2008, his charges were immediately dismissed because of lack of evidence, he said.
“We were going to shut down the website after that but then all of a sudden all these good cops started hitting the site and sending us tips,” he said.
He said they would also deliver all kinds of internal documents from within the department exposing everything from a cop with multiple DUIs to another cop whose son was a child molester and was trying to get on the force (and was eventually arrested).
“We have about 50 to 100 retired and active cops who provide us information,” he said.
Police apparently believe one of the tipsters is an officer named David Barnes, who fell out of favor with the department in 2007 when he was a detective and went public with claims of mismanaged evidence at the city crime lab.
Police also raided Barnes’ home and according to Pataky’s inside sources, plan to raid the homes of more cops.
Police have been extremely vague about the nature of the raids, according to the arizona republic.
Police officials said Wednesday that a Phoenix detective prompted the investigation after complaining about harassment, though they declined further comment…
Phoenix Assistant Chief Andy Anderson said the harassment case is unique because of the connection to an unaccredited grassroots Web site. He said the blog is one part of the case, though he did not provide specifics of the ongoing investigation.
“This isn’t about the blog,” Anderson said. “That’s just where the investigation led.”
The allegation of “petty theft” against Pataky stem from photos he posted on his blog of police name plates that appear to have been taken from within the department. He said he actually made the plates himself.
The allegation of “computer tampering with the intent to harass” obviously has to do with his no holds barred criticism of the department.
Pataky, who has since purchased a new laptop, is taking the raid in stride and has added it to the allegations in his pending lawsuit.
And he has not let it stop him from blogging.
“They thought they were going to scare us into a corner but they just made us stronger.”

It looks to me like the corrupt cops suspected software engineer Pataky of possible hacking into the personal files of those on the force to get this embarrassing information and they (cops) were able to convince a judge to sign a warrant. The case will get thrown out of court since Pataky relied on tips from within the force and not his hacking skills – if any. Once that info comes to light, the Phoenix department may face a lawsuit and false arrest charges as well as other charges. Until police / sheriffs are held personally liable for malicious, vindictive, abuse of power type actions against citizens, this s--- will continue. You cops reading this had better straighten your act up, for you are far outnumbered. I hope Al Jones will set up a legal defense fund for this chap – he deserves our support.

There is a specific legal reason policemen are referred to as ‘officers’, and it has nothing to do with their role as civil servants. On the contrary, they are executives in a corporation, similar to any CEO on Wall Street. Their snappy slogan “To Protect and to Serve” refers not to the general populace, but to their employers. They act as armed policy enforcers of a for-profit entity, typically the city or state in question. This is why criminal charges are invariably couched as “the state” versus the accused. The state is always the aggrieved party, i.e, the victim.
This fact can be confirmed by going to the credit reporting agency of Dunn and Bradstreet, where a search reveals “Phoenix, City of, Also traded as Jack Harris.” Jack Harris is their current Chief of Police. Let this sink in for a minute, and the myriad “police injustices” of which we complain start to have some sort of twisted logic. Ditto prosecutorial misconduct, corrupt judges, and politically ambitious DA’s so common in our reeking criminal justice system. It’s nothing personal. It’s literally just business.
I suspect most individuals who join the force have no idea of this sordid matrix, and only come to a realization AFTER it has wreaked havoc with their decency, integrity, and conscience. They are no doubt instructed ‘this is the way things are done’, regardless of any personal moral or ethical misgivings. This may be one of the contributors to the high rate of acoholism, divorce and emotional problems among those on duty.
By the way, all the above may be applied to the ‘officers’ employed by the business entity known as the Department of Defense. You will find our current Secretary of Defense Robert Gates traded on D & B.
The ramifications of this corporate profit mindset are far-reaching, and should give us pause whenever dealing with any ‘officer’ of any organization whatsoever. It represents the very heart of not only the criminal justice system, but entire governments- foreign and domestic.

Clearly a set up, and grounds for a good lawsuit. The courts nation wide notoriously side with the women in any case at any opportunity, from orders on high. Why???
Because in order to take down a nation- you only need subdue the males. Females will almost catagorically submit in mass without conflict or resistance when confronted with the prospect of unpleasantries.
Males however, are instinctively protective/aggressive- and can be easily stirred to fight and effective at it- especially at the realization of having been burned, or inspired by ones own stubborn sense of survival, or moral codes.
The NWO must subdue the males of America in order to take it over completely. Physical submissions, and mental conditioning to submission and compliance.
Females are moreover “bribed” or seduced, lied to. The NWO treats them with favortism- so they learn to love it. Classic asset development. Fear is also a powerful deterent which is more effective on women, than men. Men, when challenged, will often react with a surge of testosterone. We don’t like anyone “pushing us around”.

Well… “strokin the meat”…I can say your theory does not apply as I have not been able to be bribed, seduced, threatened and I have shown strong resistance and have suffered the consequences from doing so. However, I refuse to bow down.
Maybe it’s because I was never able to tolerate the milk stored in the jugs that leach that estrogen mimicing hormone and therefore I am not overfeminized.
I am giving them a run for their money on every front and will stare them down at every chance. I am not afraid of them and welcome their attacks when they are feeling froggy.
Maybe they have finally realized this as they have left me alone a bit lately. Me and my camcorder and digital recorder are just chomping at the bit to catch them in some misgivings.
I am probably not your “normal” female who happens to be in a female body but posses a male brain and therefore will fight like a male. Also, I have brothers who taught me how to fight and stand up for myself.
I have posted much of the things this gentleman has posted so I know I am pegged also. I say bring it on. I am going to the mat with these bastards. If I don’t have freedom, I may as well be dead. I can’t live under tyranny I am too free thinking.
But yes, MOST females are too weak and lack the stones to truly make a strong stand against this crap.
