Photography: A Crime Against the State and the Global Elite

The arrest of an activist taking photos of an arriving Bilderberg member is part of a growing trend in America. Photographers all over the country are being harassed, interrogated, and arrested for taking photographs in public. Citing overblown and often imaginary terrorist threats, the federal government now actively encourages police behavior that is the hallmark of totalitarian and communist countries, not a former constitutional republic.
Suspicion of photographers on the part of authorities and thuggish cops is now so rampant, even the establishment media has taken note.
“Tales of reporters, protestors and citizen journalists being threatened or arrested for filming law enforcement officials during disputes are on the rise, critics say, with Occupy Wall Street protests a lightning rod for these incidents. The National Press Photographers Association claims it has documented 70 such arrests since September and, in May, called on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to focus attention on the issue,” MSNBC reports today.
“But First Amendment law is clear: Citizens in public spaces have a right to film things they see in plain sight. Courts have repeatedly upheld that right in high-profile cases.”
Indeed, the First Amendment is clear – it is also a dead letter in America, circa 2014, more than ten years after September 11, 2001, and the phenomenal growth of the police state.
Court cases are irrelevant when police – who have at best a dim understanding of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – act like their counterparts in the former Soviet Union, North Korea, or Cuba.
Events unfolding at the Bilderberg confab in Virginia are emblematic. Citizens protesting a secretive elite are manhandled by cops while the real criminals who make decisions negatively impacting the whole of humanity are given VIP treatment and police protection.
