Gordon Brown has called for a high-level international summit to look at ways of tackling Islamic extremism in Yemen.
The Prime Minister said the January 28 meeting would be a stand-alone event involving key international partners.
It will run alongside the conference on the future of Afghanistan being held in London on the same day.
Mr Brown called for the establishment of a new “Friends of Yemen” group to pool international effort, resources and expertise to support the country.
The move follows the alleged failed bomb attack on a US-bound passenger jet by Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab.
