Police Prepare For Election Day Riots

Police departments in cities across the country are beefing up their ranks for Election Day, preparing for possible civil unrest and riots after the historic presidential contest.
Public safety officials said in interviews with The Hill that the election, which will end with either the nation’s first black president or its first female vice president, demanded a stronger police presence.
Some worry that if Barack Obama loses and there is suspicion of foul play in the election, violence could ensue in cities with large black populations. Others based the need for enhanced patrols on past riots in urban areas (following professional sports events) and also on Internet rumors.
Democratic strategists and advocates for black voters say they understand officers wanting to keep the peace, but caution that excessive police presence could intimidate voters.

Sen. Obama (Ill.), the Democratic nominee for president, has seen his lead over rival Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) grow in recent weeks, prompting speculation that there could be a violent backlash if he loses unexpectedly.
Cities that have suffered unrest before, such as Detroit, Chicago, Oakland and Philadelphia, will have extra police deployed.
In Oakland, the police will deploy extra units trained in riot control, as well as extra traffic police, and even put SWAT teams on standby.
“Are we anticipating it will be a riot situation? No. But will we be prepared if it goes awry? Yes,” said Jeff Thomason, spokesman for the Oakland Police Department.
“I think it is a big deal — you got an African-American running and [a] woman running,” he added, in reference to Obama and GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. “Whoever wins it, it will be a national event. We will have more officers on the street in anticipation that things may go south.”
The Oakland police last faced big riots in 2003 when the Raiders lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl. Officials are bracing themselves in case residents of Oakland take Obama’s loss badly.
Political observers such as Hilary Shelton and James Carville fear that record voter turnout could overload polling places on Election Day and could raise tension levels.
Shelton, the director of the NAACP’s Washington bureau, said inadequate voting facilities is a bigger problem in poor communities with large numbers of minorities.
“What are local election officials doing to prepare for what people think will be record turnout at the polls?” said Shelton, who added that during the 2004 election in Ohio voters in predominantly black communities had to wait in line six to eight hours to vote.
“On Election Day, if this continues, you may have some tempers flare; we should be prepared to deal with that but do it without intimidation,” said Shelton, who added that police have to be able to maintain order at polling stations without scaring voters, especially immigrants from “police states.”

Maybe an election will not happen or something aside from race riots. Although that could be too. Maybe they are just using the elections as an excuse to beef up for martial law later. The best advise i can say is pray and repent of sins to Jesus… Get your hearts right with God and get your guns ready. As far as Philly police are concerned, this merely gives them the go ahead to continue their thuggish routine of beating citizens, concocting charges or using their templates of resisting arrest, public disturbance and theri almighty, refusing to obey (what the hell is that—are they god). If this election goes off like it should; and Obama is not assassinated. If we are allowed to vote without monkey business and if our vote does count and no one is denied. If we are allowed to be Americans first and party worshipers last. If we are not lied to by our press and on 11/4 we are given the true count. And if MCcain has won and there is no riot or if Obama has won and there is no riot. Then I will say with glee and true belief “God is with us once again.”

It may… or may not help but, nothing beats a failure but a TRY. I wish that there were some way that I could suggest to Obama, to speak on the possibility of him losing this election, and the desired response to that outcome from his disapointed and even angry supporters, he needs to insist that all his voters everywhere, to please stay as calm as possible, because the law enforcers are expecting and gearing up for a massive beat-down of these same people expressing their disapproval and suspisions of voter fraud. People are already understandably leary and suspect of this sort of thing happening…again, and this just maybe the straw that breaks the camel’s back…he may have to make several strong appeals for his supporters to restrain from any expression of violent behavior…noting and understanding that this effort may call for super-human, self control, which should suggest to his voters, that they may want to hold special prayer vigils against any type of violent outbreak before and after the election…he needs to encourage the people to continue to excerise their rights in a law abiding way, and if fraud is suspected and proven to be an issue…then he will not concede to defeat until an overwhelming majority of his supporters are satisfied with FBI investigations and the recounts, which should be carried out, to the fullest extent of the law.
Obama should warn his voters that a violent reaction to his defeat, will only hand another victory over to his opponents, and that the true losers in this defeat will be to all Americans, regardless of party, because Martial Law will likely be declared and ‘ALL Americans’ will be losers of their Freedom and Liberties that they hold so dear.

Gas price trick?
They lower the price because we stoped using as much gas, then they say its gonna go back up but it’s going to keep going down if we keep using it minimaly.
