Pope Calls For Global Government To Manage Economy

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Benedict on Tuesday called for a “world political authority” to manage the global economy and for more government regulation of national economies to pull the world out of the current crisis and avoid a repeat.

The pope’s call for a re-think of the way the world economy is run came in new encyclical which touched on a number of social issues but whose main connecting thread was how the current crisis has affected both rich and poor nations.

Benedict said “there is an urgent need of a true world political authority” whose task would be “to manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result.”

Such an authority would have to be “regulated by law” and “would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice, and respect for rights.”

“Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties, and also with the coordinated measures adopted in various international forums,” he said.

   The reason why Horus was compared with Christ was for the reasons named in Zeitgeist. They were not original in this comparison, nor of the comparisons with all of the other regligious figures.    You must read and study about all or most ancient religions to realize some obvious things, mainly that the story of Jesus Christ and tons of bible passages have been told and written in tons of different eras, in different circunstances, but containing the exact same overall story.

   You should watch part 1 of Zeitgeist for a brief and that. And everyone who watched Zeitgeist and cares about the subject REALLY SHOULD, as I did, take notes and names and research to validate and verify all the data that is presented in the film (especially in part 1).

Just search “all men” or the word “every” in the Bible, and you’ll see that Christianity seeks to convert all of mankind. Not through coercion, but through free choice. The world government of the anti-Christ is a PERVERSION of this Christian goal. The Christian goal is a true world community freely unified in belief and love (hence, the title of the encyclical “Love in Truth”). Right off the bat I can see that the focus of the encyclical is not New World Order world government, but justice and the common good. These seem to be topics in line with views expressed by Alex Jones. Keep in mind also that the Catholic Church’s social teachings teach subsidiarity, that is LOCAL CONTROL. Read the excerpt below (section 57) with this teaser quote: “In order not to produce a dangerous universal power of a tyrannical nature, the governance of globalization must be marked by subsidiarity”.     “For believers, the world derives neither from blind chance nor from strict necessity, but from God’s plan. This is what gives rise to the duty of believers to unite their efforts with those of all men and women of good will, with the followers of other religions and with non-believers, so that this world of ours may effectively correspond to the divine plan: living as a family under the Creator’s watchful eye. Since that has not happened, and the Pope is calling for a single master to rule the financial world, anyone with only a handful of brain cells can conclude that someone that looks to centralize such power within this global climate is not of God, but of man. Such a move will be no different than our own Federal Reserve. Only now, they’ll have total control across the globe. Does this sound appealing? Is this what God wants for us? To be enslaved?     I think you’re miscasting what the document says. It says a global authority imbued by subsidiarity. This is similar to the United States’ system in which there is a central authority with limited powers and numerous local authorities. The Federal Reserve is an aberration from the Congress’ central authority which comes from the Constitution. Many think globalization is inevitable. I think it is on the current path we’re on. And I think it is a currently bad path. But is there a better path? Should it be just or tyrannical? Should it be centralized or spread out to the local level? Some ideas the text says (context):

    Purpose:
    - to manage the global economy
    - to revive economies hit by the crisis
    - to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result
    - to bring about integral and timely disarmament, food security, and peace
    - to guarantee the protection of the environment and to regulate migration

    The authority would:
    - be regulated by law
    - observe consistently the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity
    - seek to establish the common good
    - make a commitment to securing authentic integral human development inspired by the values of charity in truth

    I am intrigued by the encyclical and the ideas is broaches. I don’t believe the knee-jerk haters of Catholicism who would condemn St. Francis for being too much like Christ (well, because he was a dirty pig Catholic, idol-worshiper). “Globalization” in itself is not evil. What is evil is tyranny and what comes with it. I don’t see a guide to tyranny in this encyclical. The hater attitude is clearly stupidity on a benign level, and hate on a vicious level. Most Catholics in the know are way beyond the five century old propaganda put out by the power-that-were in England, Germany, Switzerland, et al. I would be impressed with anyone who would put forth an educated critique of the document (no need for cuss words and hateful epithets). I anxiously await that while I read the encyclical.     Jim,

    I can appreciate your focus on the document and the “spirit” in which it “appears” to have been written. And I confess, anything I have posted thus far has had nothing to do with the document. My focus went no further than the fact that a gentleman (in this case, the Pope) is suggesting that we install a single point of control over the entire financial system on planet earth. Thats it. Thats my focus.

    With regard to the document (of which I have not read, nor do I need to), it is likely written and reads in such a way as to present itself as being relatively benign. How many documents do we have throughout all of government that read similarly and appear to be attempts at being in our best interest? How many of those same documents actually have the ability to centralize power and erode our rights? Over the decades, I have seen extremely little benefit from my government. But wow!!!… the rate at which my rights are taken away is staggering. To suggest that we centralize power within a one-world economy and hand this power over to the same psychopathic men that are already working towards doing exactly that, is pure insanity. Yes, you can say that this infrastructure would not be handed over to such individuals, but that does not matter. You have but to create it, and they will surely take it.

    Is it possible that the Pope means well? Perhaps. And if he does, thats wonderful. Of course, this would make him naive, if not delusional. His opinion is no more valuable than the rest of ours, but, because he is the figurehead of yet another level of politics, he is given a huge platform from which to spout out foolishness.

    What Mr. Pope should be doing is studying the different economic models across the globe. After having done so, he should (among other things) come to the realization that the Kenesian economic model that is the foundation of the US’s economy is hugely flawed. And he would probably be quite intrigued with Austrian economics. The fact is, the economies do not need to be managed. They need to be left alone. There needs to be a free market… period. And for those who might add that our current situation is due to the flaws of a free market, those folks are mistaken, and likely naive, to think that we have ever actually had a 100% free market. I suppose when you really think about it, the free market has always existed and always will. We just haven’t ever seen it for what it is, because of all the interference, manipulation, and control that has suppressed it. Because we have so many ignorant leaders among us that do not understand in the least anything about a free market, they constantly seek to do battle with it in the form of controls, ignorant laws, ignorant rules, ignorant limitations. And you can be damn sure of one thing. When someone messes with something they don’t understand, their actions WILL have an impact. And because they do not understand it, they can’t possibly know what their impact will give birth to. And because they do not pull from “profound knowledge”, the impact is likely to be catastrophic rather than beneficial.

    I appreciate your intellectual honesty as well. I understand caution and even knee-jerk reaction, but I have no time for the mindless hate against Catholics in these boards. I am not convinced it is all operatives or schizophrenics, but I am sure there are some avid listeners of Alex’ that dislike Catholicism and are not willing to explore a view contrary to their own. In the end they become what they hate and dwindle down to hateful bloviations just to avoid a firm examination of their own conscience.

    Relating to yours and observer’s post from July 7th, 2009 at 8:21 pm, my main argument is not necessarily for the Pope or the world government. I am intrigued by the idea, though, that man is heading toward world government simply to do our progress as a people. I read a book on government from 1907 recently which talked about heading toward “one society” and how the family was the leading block to the one society gaining complete power. In addition Malachi Martin’s book “Rich Church, Poor Church” talks about a rising global “managerial” system. Jacques Ellul is his “Technological Society” essentially fates it to be, but does explain how it can be avoided. It is not a pretty picture. But could the People think the same thing, it is inevitable, so why not try to make it good? I don’t know. I’m intrigued by the idea. The track we’ve been on certain isn’t good, though, and ultimately the Pope’s judgement may turn out to be way off the mark from what is truly needed for a just and good society.

    1st and formost I don’t care what worldview you hold it is religious, and that includes Atheism. Ask yourself four questions. How did the origins of existance happen? How do I come to my morals and ethics? What gives life meaning? What happens to me when I die? You answer those four questions and you in essence have a religion no matter what it is called. If you are an atheist and claim there is no God, do you know everything about everything? I will be generous and say you know 75% of everything. Do you think that God exists in the other 25%? Even Dawkins would not put a percentage to it. I think Atheism should be banned since they barrow from Christian morals to determine what is right, and then double speak to say they don’t.

It falls prey to contingent subjective emotions and opinions, the word “love” is abused and distorted, to the point where it comes to mean the opposite. Truth frees charity from the constraints of an emotionalism that deprives it of relational and social content, and of a fideism that deprives it of human and universal breathing-space. In the truth, charity reflects the personal yet public dimension of faith in the God of the Bible, who is both Agape and Logos: Charity and Truth, Love and Word.

    In the present social and cultural context, where there is a widespread tendency to relativize truth, practising charity in truth helps people to understand that adhering to the values of Christianity is not merely useful but essential for building a good society and for true integral human development. A Christianity of charity without truth would be more or less interchangeable with a pool of good sentiments, helpful for social cohesion, but of little relevance. In other words, there would no longer be any real place for God in the world. Without truth, charity is confined to a narrow field devoid of relations. It is excluded from the plans and processes of promoting human development of universal range, in dialogue between knowledge and praxis.

    This dynamic of charity received and given is what gives rise to the Church’s social teaching, which is “caritas in veritate in re sociali”: the proclamation of the truth of Christ’s love in society. This doctrine is a service to charity, but its locus is truth. Truth preserves and expresses charity’s power to liberate in the ever-changing events of history. It is at the same time the truth of faith and of reason, both in the distinction and also in the convergence of those two cognitive fields. Development, social well-being, the search for a satisfactory solution to the grave socio-economic problems besetting humanity, all need this truth. What they need even more is that this truth should be loved and demonstrated. Without truth, without trust and love for what is true, there is no social conscience and responsibility, and social action ends up serving private interests and the logic of power, resulting in social fragmentation, especially in a globalized society at difficult times like the present.

    On the one hand, charity demands justice: recognition and respect for the legitimate rights of individuals and peoples. It strives to build the earthly city according to law and justice. On the other hand, charity transcends justice and completes it in the logic of giving and forgiving. The earthly city is promoted not merely by relationships of rights and duties, but to an even greater and more fundamental extent by relationships of gratuitousness, mercy and communion. Charity always manifests God’s love in human relationships as well, it gives theological and salvific value to all commitment for justice in the world.

    The more we strive to secure a common good corresponding to the real needs of our neighbours, the more effectively we love them. Every Christian is called to practise this charity, in a manner corresponding to his vocation and according to the degree of influence he wields in the polis. This is the institutional path — we might also call it the political path — of charity, no less excellent and effective than the kind of charity which encounters the neighbour directly, outside the institutional mediation of the polis. When animated by charity, commitment to the common good has greater worth than a merely secular and political stand would have. Like all commitment to justice, it has a place within the testimony of divine charity that paves the way for eternity through temporal action. Man’s earthly activity, when inspired and sustained by charity, contributes to the building of the universal city of God, which is the goal of the history of the human family. In an increasingly globalized society, the common good and the effort to obtain it cannot fail to assume the dimensions of the whole human family, that is to say, the community of peoples and nations, in such a way as to shape the earthly city in unity and peace, rendering it to some degree an anticipation and a prefiguration of the undivided city of God.

    Love in truth — caritas in veritate — is a great challenge for the Church in a world that is becoming progressively and pervasively globalized. The risk for our time is that the de facto interdependence of people and nations is not matched by ethical interaction of consciences and minds that would give rise to truly human development. Only in charity, illumined by the light of reason and faith, is it possible to pursue development goals that possess a more humane and humanizing value. The sharing of goods and resources, from which authentic development proceeds, is not guaranteed by merely technical progress and relationships of utility, but by the potential of love that overcomes evil with good (cf. Rom 12:21), opening up the path towards reciprocity of consciences and liberties.

    The Church does not have technical solutions to offer and does not claim “to interfere in any way in the politics of States.” She does, however, have a mission of truth to accomplish, in every time and circumstance, for a society that is attuned to man, to his dignity, to his vocation. Without truth, it is easy to fall into an empiricist and sceptical view of life, incapable of rising to the level of praxis because of a lack of interest in grasping the values — sometimes even the meanings — with which to judge and direct it. Fidelity to man requires fidelity to the truth, which alone is the guarantee of freedom (cf. Jn 8:32) and of the possibility of integral human development.     You see, thats all good stuff and all, but its the part where God sends bad people to suffer and choke and wither in pain etternally in hell that I dont digest well about Christianity.

    Actually thats just one bit I cant digest, the whole “the one only true church” also seems ilogical to me. As long as you realize the supreme Love, Truth and Power of God, how could it matter the format it is presented, perceived or imbued?
    It is impossible to prove, by means of world history, that other religions are in some way erroneous and the Catholic church is the only true medium to connect with the Higher.

    Regardless of the good content, the Catholic church presents itself as a self-preservating institution, unavoidably competing with other religions and belief systems for its own growth and prosperity, even if this is done in a non-threatning, non-combative way.

    Every religion in fact does present itself in this way, for they are institutions and its in their nature to be self-preservative.

    I cannot phatom a God who is Perfect, Timeless and Loving, and yet relies on a specific and ordered paradigm to be able to express and imbue Itself in Its Own creation.

    Just briefly on your first sentence, and not to make light of it, but you and I rudibr, we’ve never condemned someone to hell. Either implicity or explicity, “go to hell” seems to be the general message of oh say maybe two/thirds of the above posts. And seemingly always the same posters are oh ever so concerned with Justice. It is universally acknowledged in ethics and religion that justice is universally applied, i.e. you are condemning someone for an action, behavior or word. How do your actions, words, behaviors fit the sentence you have handed down on others, even children know this.

    Why then is it that the expression of God as a man who would out love die for us rather than see actualized the hatred and judgment we have (both for its effects on others and the necessary effects on ourselves from justice), is the one insulted and considered harsh? What else exactly would you have him do? This is why this good news is preserved as a unique testimony. Would it be better to not tell someone that despite our hatefulness God has declared his love, to just hoard the treasure? Or is it to be proclaimed, so that people are no longer miserable and troubled by even what we view as the harshest of all judgments, namely death.

    This provides some much needed substance to an otherwise banal and predictable newspiece

    I have read only a little of what Pope Benedict has written and you have reminded me to read some more. Anyone who spends any time reading him finds a depth and breath of knowledge that is nothing short of astonishing, coupled to an almost frightening clarity of thought. His style is different than that of John Paul II’s. In some ways less effusive, but a true intellectuals’ delight. It can be tough sledding but is a joy to get through (a little) of his works.

    Just to provide a little more context, here is the first paragraph of his first public letter,

    “1. “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1 Jn 4:16). These words from the First Letter of John express with remarkable clarity the heart of the Christian faith: the Christian image of God and the resulting image of mankind and its destiny. In the same verse, Saint John also offers a kind of summary of the Christian life: “We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us”.

    I’ll stop here, I’m sure their are plenty gathering their spittle and waiting to call him king of the demons as they once did to his and our Savior.

    No problem, PD. I can understand people having trouble coming to a firm belief in God, and then Christianity, because I was raised in a very weak Catholicism, left it and explored other religions and even no religion, and then came back to it on intellectual arguments. People need to understand that God is eternal and immutable. He HAS to be explained in human terms. His love is boundless. He is PURE love. We must compare it to a love a mother or father has for a child, or a sibling for sibling. In addition He is just. Punishments fit the crimes. Man has free choice to reject God, but that doesn’t mean rejection gets YOU what YOU want. In addition God is merciful. He actually withholds the fullest consequence for our actions because He wants us to love him and serve him freely. If I ponder my life and all I truly deserve for my actions and failings, I am saddened. That is how the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus come into play. There is the mercy.

    As for the one true Church thing. Is it logical for God, pure truth, pure light, to be represented on earth by contradictory and/or evil systems? But even beyond that, beyond the idea of system, the Church isn’t meant to be a “system”. Mystically it is Body of Christ. Believers are bound together in a mystical way — members of one Body, which is divine. It isn’t about “systems” but a unification that results from our adherence to God and the resulting unity in belief and behavior. Visibly it is the body of believers unified by one belief. The visible aspect is to provide the vehicle of salvation. Christ set up His unique Church (= Greek Ecclesia; Hebrew Qahal) to be His people. This Church is available to all men. It is a sign and call to perfection. And, lest anyone critique the Church because of her members, it is full of sinners. It is supposed to be. Because He came to call the sinners.

    As for the article, just note that the title wasn’t “Pope calls for universal love” or “Pope calls for justice and common good” or “Pope calls for subsidiarity”. Yet those topics are 99% of the document in question. Hmm ….

    Another “funny” portion. It seems Pope Benedict is not for the NWO eugenics movement. He sounds like Alex Jones! Anyone here willing to argue with me that the vision put forth in this documents is vastly different from the one support by Obama, Brown, and the other folks that Alex Jones’ rails against? Does anyone have the intellectual honesty to assess Pope Benedict on his own ground, and not by preconceived notions and prejudices?

    Read Daniel in the Bible. Before Jesus returns these things were prophesy; One world leadership, one world currency. Be thankful for these signs, they are proof of HIS word that is scripture. All of this snarling, arguing, cussing one another out to be right is a waste of time. You can go to one place, read the Bible and you will see this will come to pass. You can’t stop it, no matter how much you yell at one another or speak badly of the Catholic Church. It’s in the scriptures, it’s going to happen whether you think it will work or not.

    So you’re wasting your time arguing with one another; according to scripture this is a done deal and will come to pass. Maybe rather than argue people should be excited. Once you read Daniel you then have confirmation that the Bible is true; or at least it is on this topic.
