President-elect Barack Obama proposes economic suicide for US

If the holder of the most powerful office in the world proposed a policy guaranteed to inflict untold damage on his own country and many others, on the basis of claims so demonstrably fallacious that they amount to a string of self-deluding lies, we might well be concerned. The relevance of this is not to President Bush, as some might imagine, but to a recent policy statement by President-elect Obama.
Tomorrow, delegates from 190 countries will meet in Poznan, Poland, to pave the way for next year’s UN conference in Copenhagen at which the world will agree a successor to the Kyoto Protocol on climate change. They will see a video of Mr Obama, in only his second major policy commitment, pledging that America is now about to play the leading role in the fight to “save the planet” from global warming.
Mr Obama begins by saying that “the science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear”. “Sea levels,” he claims, “are rising, coastlines are shrinking, we’ve seen record drought, spreading famine and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season.”

Far from the science being “beyond dispute”, we can only deduce from this that Mr Obama has believed all he was told by Al Gore’s wondrously batty film An Inconvenient Truth without bothering to check the facts. Each of these four statements is so wildly at odds with the truth that on this score alone we should be seriously worried.
It is true that average sea levels are modestly rising, but no faster than they have been doing for three centuries. Gore’s film may predict a rise this century of 20 feet, but even the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change only predicts a rise of between four and 17 inches. The main focus of alarm here has been the fate of low-lying coral islands such as the Maldives and Tuvalu.
Around each of these tiny countries, according to the international Commission on Sea Level Changes and other studies, sea levels in recent decades have actually fallen. The Indian Ocean was higher between 1900 and 1970 than it has been since. Satellite measurements show that since 1993 the sea level around Tuvalu has gone down by four inches.

The only solution to all this craziness is found in the Bible. The Bible says that you must accept Christ as your savior and repent of your sins, adhere to our heavenly father God Yahweh Elohim’s Covenant With Man honoring the Saturday Sabbath, the Holy Days and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
If you do these things our Loving Father will be very pleased with you. In turn His Spirit will give you the key to understanding. Without God’s spirit Biblical truth cannot manifest itself in a way that is mentally digestible by man. Once you are then blessed with the gift of divine understanding you will clearly see that God has provided His secret keepers of truth, (His Church) with an accurate means in which to calculate when Jesus Christ will return here to Earth.
Look at the madness around you brothers and sisters. REPENT NOW, for God LOVES you immensely and wants each of his earthly children to appreciate His original purpose for mankind, the promise of ever lasting life in His new Kingdom. Actually, CriticalReviews–the Mosaic Law was only for the children of Israel. It does not apply to the church today. We Christians are not bound by Mosaic Law. See Romans 14:5 (KJV). Now if you want to set a day aside, that’s fine, but NOT REQUIRED.
All that’s required for salvation is belief on Christ–NOTHING ELSE. Realize you are a sinner, you can’t save yourself, and your salvation is purchased by the blood of Christ.

There is NOTHING WRONG with trying to pollute less and create our energy in a more environmentally friendly fashion! We are by far the most dirty and severely polluting species on earth, and we should TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY for this, don’t you think?.. We live on the earth and our lives depend on the earth. So why not try to live in a less harmful way??? Something wrong with that? Oh yea, it’s because the “black” man said it…

Good to see this printed in the Telegraph. It gives the opinion of most people in the UK and US.
The only problem is that some people will just say:
“well, isn’t it good stop polluting? Do you want to pollute the world? You are a devil…etc”
The only answer to this is to make others aware that they are not the only ones who see this crap Obama and other thoughtless people spout, and that they need to think about every single opinion they have ever had given to them.

#3 I hear your agruement all the time.. and the fact is that we ARE NOT CAUSING HARM AT ALL WITH CARBON.. It has almost NO effect on the climate. We would do much better for the world if we spend our time on real issues.
and it will destroy the economy, THe rich country cant even afford it.

If Obama and Gore and all the rest of ‘em really want to end “global warming” (which is nothing but hot air coming from their mouths to gain more control and tax revenue from you to the banking mafia), then you would expect them to be all over hydrogen power wouldn’t you? Ah, but that would also make a huge dent in THEIR oil industry and THEIR wars for oil and THEIR military contracts wouldn’t it?

if you want to reduce CO2 levels in the air plant a tree, and stop breathing.
if you want to go after those who pollute then you fine them for dumping pollution into the rivers and streams, or the jackass who throws his trash out the window as he drives down the freeway. Or you can incentives them with tax breaks for recycling.
don’t you see where this heading…….they will end up taxing each and everyone of us into the ground for breathing and driving to work. this is ust one more step to impliment a world regulatory organization which is one step closer to a one world government.

Free energy is out there, but the problem is that these yahoo’s can’t make money off of it so they suppress it.
Do some homework on Tesla, and pulling energy from teh ionosphere, or just wake up and usderstand the power that can be extracted from natural things such as the Sun, Water, Wind, etc. We can do this, but that would mean less power/money/control for the elite.

Carbon = Life
All life on Earth is carbon based, even your food
The Carbon Tax is a way to control life. You will have to get a permit to have children, dogs, cats, trees, plants or any life that is based on your land. Only the wealthy & corporations will be able to pay the carbon tax.
MORE CO2 means more plant life and thus more food for animals, including the human animal.
Global Warming is hoax used on the most ignorant in or society, just as the war on terror hoax is used on the most ignorant in our society.

Global Alarmism is a Trojan horse to establish a global tax and or tax on every living thing.
If all the money spent on the politics and the hyping of global warming went into “alternative energy” then we would be well along the way to beeing fully converted. However that is not what they are interested in.
I don’t know whether or not God exists however.
I agree with you on people using gods name in vain, blindly appealing to the bible and saying something in it which is not found anywhere in it. The only scripture that might apply is the verse that says the God will destroy those destroying the earth Revelation 11:18. Why are the most annoying ones who push the bible obviously have never read it?

Earthmother, I am sorry, but YOU are the sheep. Of course we should stop polluting. We should respect the Earth and keep our land, water and air clean. I am currently in the process of going off-grid, growing my own food and I only buy local, organic food. This is not about whether we should or shouldn’t pollute – OF COURSE we shouldn’t pollute. This is about the flat out LIES propagated by the Democrats (who are in actuality on the same team as the Repubs). The Earth goes through natural climate cycles. Ever heard of the Ice Age? The Earth has gone through many climate changes long before there was ever anyone driving around in an SUV! The Romans used to grow grapes to full ripening to make wine on the coast of Scotland all year long! Temperatures were MUCH warmer in Roman times than they are now! You need to start educating yourself by starting with watching “The Great Global Warming Swindle” – just google it and you can watch it free online. Just like Bush FLAT OUT LIED about Iraq having WMD’s, the Democrats are FLAT OUT LYING about “climate change” saying that “it’s all the humans fault”. OF COURSE THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO BLAME IT ON HUMANS – otherwise, how else will they justify raping the world’s population with a strangulating carbon tax! Carbon is essential to life! Maybe you’re too busy looking for something to argue over?
I know it’s all b.s. fed to us by the slave masters. I knew that AS A CHILD. I know that the climate changes with or without humans. I basically live outdoors and am in touch with the natural flow of earth cycles. I know carbon dioxide isn’t the enemy.
I also know that until proven otherwise, Obama isn’t the enemy. My only suggestion is to give him a chance to either make or break before crucifying him. I don’t go for judging someone’s actions before they even have a chance to act or time to see what happens. Has not one thing to do with Democrap versus Repuglican. It has to do with right and wrong. Has not one thing to do with race either, altho SOME idiots think so. That’s why I put the “” around the word BLACK…
Julia, I am as far from a sheep OR a racist as you can get. Believe it. Ask anyone who knows me and some who don’t. I live in the sticks, I live off the land, I’m an organic farmer. I have a “black” (half) adopted son. I only drive my ‘86 chevette once every week or two to town to buy supplies. I am ok with the FACT that my electricity and plumbing and car is a LUXURY which I can do without if necessary.
I also have managed to live 53 years without paying any rent nor having an aboveboard “job” and have only “made” $6000.00 “legally” according to Social Security Admin. since ‘72… So. What more would YOU have me do, eh?

Ocean currents can power the world, say scientists
A revolutionary device that can harness energy from slow-moving rivers and ocean currents could provide enough power for the entire world, scientists claim.

The technology can generate electricity in water flowing at a rate of less than one knot – about one mile an hour – meaning it could operate on most waterways and sea beds around the globe.
Existing technologies which use water power, relying on the action of waves, tides or faster currents created by dams, are far more limited in where they can be used, and also cause greater obstructions when they are built in rivers or the sea. Turbines and water mills need an average current of five or six knots to operate efficiently, while most of the earth’s currents are slower than three knots.
The new device, which has been inspired by the way fish swim, consists of a system of cylinders positioned horizontal to the water flow and attached to springs.
As water flows past, the cylinder creates vortices, which push and pull the cylinder up and down. The mechanical energy in the vibrations is then converted into electricity.
Cylinders arranged over a cubic metre of the sea or river bed in a flow of three knots can produce 51 watts. This is more efficient than similar-sized turbines or wave generators, and the amount of power produced can increase sharply if the flow is faster or if more cylinders are added.
A “field” of cylinders built on the sea bed over a 1km by 1.5km area, and the height of a two-storey house, with a flow of just three knots, could generate enough power for around 100,000 homes. Just a few of the cylinders, stacked in a short ladder, could power an anchored ship or a lighthouse.
Systems could be sited on river beds or suspended in the ocean. The scientists behind the technology, which has been developed in research funded by the US government, say that generating power in this way would potentially cost only around 3.5p per kilowatt hour, compared to about 4.5p for wind energy and between 10p and 31p for solar power. They say the technology would require up to 50 times less ocean acreage than wave power generation.
The system, conceived by scientists at the University of Michigan, is called Vivace, or “vortex-induced vibrations for aquatic clean energy”.
Michael Bernitsas, a professor of naval architecture at the university, said it was based on the changes in water speed that are caused when a current flows past an obstruction. Eddies or vortices, formed in the water flow, can move objects up and down or left and right.
“This is a totally new method of extracting energy from water flow,” said Mr Bernitsas. “Fish curve their bodies to glide between the vortices shed by the bodies of the fish in front of them. Their muscle power alone could not propel them through the water at the speed they go, so they ride in each other’s wake.”
Such vibrations, which were first observed 500 years ago by Leonardo DaVinci in the form of “Aeolian Tones”, can cause damage to structures built in water, like docks and oil rigs. But Mr Bernitsas added: “We enhance the vibrations and harness this powerful and destructive force in nature.
“If we could harness 0.1 per cent of the energy in the ocean, we could support the energy needs of 15 billion people. In the English Channel, for example, there is a very strong current, so you produce a lot of power.”
Because the parts only oscillate slowly, the technology is likely to be less harmful to aquatic wildlife than dams or water turbines. And as the installations can be positioned far below the surface of the sea, there would be less interference with shipping, recreational boat users, fishing and tourism.
The engineers are now deploying a prototype device in the Detroit River, which has a flow of less than two knots. Their work, funded by the US Department of Energy and the US Office of Naval Research, is published in the current issue of the quarterly Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering.
