Thousands of police were today brutally suppressing a pro-democracy rally in central Tehran.
In a flurry of postings on blogs and Twitter, demonstrators described people being heavily beaten and shot.
There were claims that a girl had been hit by a hail of bullets and that the feared Basij paramilitaries were preventing people from getting to safety.
One blog, Revolutionary Road, claimed that there were 10,000 policemen massed in Baharestan Square in the south-east of the city.
Correspondents said there were army helicopters flying over the area and that police had used tear gas to suppress the protest.
The square itself had been blocked off, shops closed and the local train station also shut.

Seems to me like the Iranians are being played by those that have an interest in the violence.
If we riot and protest, the government will have their excuse to lock down martial law and come after us with guns drawn.
However, if we simply abandon their corrupt regime – stop funding it, stop supporting it and stop listening to their BS, we can win.

Why is every one making such a big deal about this? Why should we care? People are treated harshly in China all of the time but we dont say shit about that and everyone knows why. The selectiveness of it all I guess is what frustrates me, yeah I feel bad for those people but really I could give a fuck. This shit goes on all over the world everyday, and due to the US agenda, the media exploits it and creates this vacuum of shit we have to hear about constantly. Its an internal issue in Iran and we shouldnt get involved. The people there have balls unlike here when Bush took gore out with the shit in FL. If we had the balls to do something and shit hit the fan would we be looking for outside help to take these assholes out? I think not, let them have their fight and see who comes out on top. Our fight would be more interesting to watch because we have GUNS
Thats if it ever goes down. I cant stand the direction the GOVT. takes on these issues and meddle with everyones business making shit worse. They should clean up their shit before trying to tell others what to do with theirs.

All this “twittering” and no REAL reports. ABC Aust. had on ts front page a big story about this, and CONFIRMED it was from A “TWIT” er sorry a “twitter” . Is this journalism??…I had a dump today AND IT CAME TO LIFE…HONEST…..AND IT STARTED WALKING AROUND….HONEST…..I HAVE A PHOTO….and it turned into a CIA agent. It appears the “coloured revolution” is being put down. From what I gather there were about 200 protesters and even that cant be confirmed. Me thinks, when and if this calms down, there are going to be many real pissed off Iranians ie the vast majority that were not part of this CIA coup.
