Protesters disrupt Bushs July 4th address at Monticello july4bushprotester

President Bush delivered a July 4th address before a naturalization ceremony for new citizens at Thomas Jefferson’s home of Monticello that was repeatedly interrupted by protesters who called out “war criminal” and “impeach Bush.”

According to news accounts, “shouts from protesters were heard during Bush’s remarks,” while a transcript notes repeated occurrences all through the speech of “Audience disturbance,” “Audience interruption,” and “Audience interruption continues.”

“Protesters made it hard to hear President Bush Friday,” Fox News reported.

According to Virginia’s News Leader, “Lee Catlin, community relations director for the Albemarle County, said six protesters were asked to leave the ceremony,” but none were arrested.

The paper reported, “A Monticello spokesperson said that protesters were allowed to express their views unless they blocked views or passageways. He said that Monticello has no plans at this time to press charges against the six who were removed from the museum grounds.”

At his AfterDowningStreet.org website, activist David Swanson explains why he and others “interrupted Bush at Monticello.”

“When Bush opened his mouth to speak I shouted ‘Defend the Constitution, Impeach Bush!’” Swanson writes. “I repeated that several times, as people nearby knocked me over, cops handcuffed me, people gave me smiles and thumbs up signs. They threw me out and a couple of more defenders of our Constitution behind me, and then a few more, and then a few more. The handcuffed citizens who’d done their duty kept coming down the hill. They did not arrest us but did give us a ride down the mountain where we joined a crowd of protesters in the road who greeted Bush’s limo coming and going.”

Swanson links to a page devoted to Ohio Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s 35 Articles of Impeachment against President Bush to explain “why.”

Kucinich released a July 4th message asking for help in restoring the “rule of law in America.” RAW STORY has more at this link.

The following video, uploaded to YouTube by Swanson, was credited to S. Johnson and shows “footage of Gael Murphy, Desiree Fairooz, and Linda Lisanti, who were at Monticello:

Just what the hell are we supposed to do? We can’t even fight back because we will just end up in prison.

    3. Tristan Davis Says:

Does anyone else find it ironic that “Mr Bush” says how great it is that we have free speach, just as the lady who is expressing her right to protest is being dragged away by mindless goofballs in suits?!

    4. Jimbo Says:

It’s nice to see a wicked puppet like Bush get a bit of protest right in his face as his fascist babboons scramble to stifle FREE SPEECH but just remember that Bush, Cheney, Perle, Wolfowitz, Rice, Rumsfeld, Haas, Kissinger, Frum, Feith, Chertoff and the entire luciferian gang, including the CFR & the Rockefeller nwo will ALL stand before JESUS CHRIST one day and be appropriately judged for their crimes. They won’t get away with anything. Every murder and injustice committed by these followers of lucifer has been seen and noted by the scribes in heaven; they’ll pay for every wicked action. In fact, in their minds and in their souls they are paying at this moment for their wickedness. Nothing is worse than to be separated from Christ through one’s wicked actions. There is no peace for the wicked. Trust always in JESUS CHRIST. He’ll give you peace, hope, wisdom, truth and true freedom.

    5. Dia Says:

How dumb are the people there who cheered when Bush said “We believe in free speech in America” and then they drag away the people using their constitution right to free speech? They were stopped from using their rights. He was contradicting himself. Didn’t those people notice that? It is now conditional free speech and that isn’t how it is supposed to be.

Watch, Bush will implement new laws in a couple of weeks to stop this. He’s getting hassled everywhere he goes, even in other countries. We all have to keep up this fight, any way we can.

I’m just disgusted with this government.

    6. Dia Says:

I forgot to add that when you watch the speech, he gives some deadly looks to the protesters. Watch it and watch his eyes and body language. He was mad as heck.

People ought to spread out and take turns one after another when they protest so the whole speech is interupted. When one gets dragged off and handcuffed, another person starts shouting in a different spot.

    7. jay Says:

Standing before Jesus Christ is of course a daunting experience to be sure, but you get a lot better results when the accused stands before a firing squad. In my opinion.

    8. chris Says:

90% of the time the videos on this site say “sorry, this video is no longer available.” anyone experience this?

    9. Rhona Says:

Now we know why a president with a track record like his, will
not take responsibility for anything, his dad always bailed him
out of trouble, covered up his wrong doings, looked with a blind eye, or turned his head while his son bumbled at leadership, while
demanding that his and his son’s powerful friends do likewise. Even at this late date, too many American citizens are following that same spineless enabling pattern, too arrogant, too ignorant or gullible, they cheer him on as he continues his reckless wicked war, no matter how long, who or how many are killed and horribly injured, yet in the mist of all of this incredibly evil devastation…they continue to applaud him, blindly supporting his wrong doings and warmongering…then they turn on the strong protesting patriot, and demand that this truly brave individual, “shut-up, and sit down!” In other words…”cover-up, don’t stand up and tell the truth!” while the master of double-speak and lies continues his spell of death and deceit over the fearful willful mindless muppets of mankind…yet, I am glad to know from all your comments and actions that there are still those of us who will speak truth to power, because there’s nothing more powerful than…”The Truth” which will set us all free!

    10. John Adams Says:

If Thomas Jefferson knew that George Bush used Monticello to deliver a speech about freedom, he would be as angry as I am.
