Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) reports from the floor of the House that the Republicans have been cut out of the process and called unpatriotic for not blindly supporting the fraudulent bailout. He says the only debate has been about what talking points to use on the American people. The most ominous revelation is when he claims the Speaker has declared martial law.
“I have been thrown out of more meetings in this capital in the last 24 hours than I ever thought possible, as a duly elected representative of 825,000 citizens of north Texas.” Said Congressman Burgess.
Burgess asks the Speaker of the House to post the bailout bill on the internet for at least 24 hours instead of passing the largest piece of legislation in US financial history in the “dark of night.”

The most frightening part of Rep. Burgess’ one-minute floor speech is when he says, “Mr. Speaker I understand we are under Martial Law as declared by the speaker last night.”

The American people who so willingly tolerate and participate in torture deserve everything that is coming. As the people accept and believe lies just because they are earning a paycheck this is what you get. When you choose to persecute and oppress innocent men women and children you are making decisions that have an extremely powerful effect. The people want the murdering robbing barrabus instead of the innocent healer and saviour that is what you will get. Nobody deserves to suffer. Americans and all citizens of all nations have been guided into a set of beliefs that they accept as their own because they can not do otherwise. It is natural. The forces at work simply know too well how to manipulate humanity to do as they wish. Even the brainwashed cops and mercenaries are in a way as innocent as the rest. They too have fallen into the trap and have been tricked as have we all to a greater or lesser degree. Hate not the innocent, poor and pitiable people that have fallen into this trap that we all have fallen into. Poster #2 he might be speaking indirectly about the situation in his district which I have spoken about many times on this board. Apparently there is some form of covert war or soft martial law taking place in the dallas ftworth area that has not been covered in any direct fasion by the media. The city has been brewing in hostilities and fear from what seems to be a secret criminal takeover. Organized torture squads, secret police ,intimidation everywhere you go, raping , pillaging and machine gun assassinations are the new way of life here. Use of the martial law procedure would enable the Leadership to seek to round up the votes needed to pass the budget reconciliation bill before a full picture is available of what the bill does. House Members also may be asked to vote on the defense appropriation bill before they have the opportunity to understand fully what has been inserted into it.
What is “Martial Law”?
The House leadership is using a parliamentary gambit to evade a longstanding House rule that is supposed to ensure that this kind of obfuscation does not occur. That House rule (Rule XIII(6)(a)) provides that a resolution (called a rule) reported by the Rules Committee cannot be considered by the House on the same legislative day that the rule is reported (except by a two-thirds vote of the House). This is supposed to ensure that Members of the House and the public have at least one day to examine and analyze what is in the legislation to be considered before they have to debate and vote on it.
To maneuver around this House rule and rush the revised reconciliation bill and defense appropriation bill to a vote before they have been fully examined, the Rules Committee reported a rule (H.Res. 632) on the legislative day of Saturday, December 17, that would waive the application of Rule XIII(6)(a). Instead, it would allow the Rules Committee to wait until the last minute — and not to report the rules governing consideration of the reconciliation and defense appropriations conference reports, or to release the conference reports themselves, until immediately before debate and votes on the rules and the legislation commences. This despite the fact that the budget legislation is expected to be hundreds of pages long.
This extraordinary procedure is known as a “martial law” rule because it suspends the normal procedures and safeguards and allows the House Leadership to operate in a more authoritarian fashion. It enables the Leadership to seek to ram a bill or conference report through before the Members have the opportunity to fully understand what they are voting on.
Well, there you have it, maybe not as bad as military martial law, but if that isn’t the defination of dictatorship, I don’t know what is.

I see nothing of what you speak of. I live exactly in his district. I live in Lewisville and I have seen absolutely none of that. Everything is business as usual down here, for now. That doesn’t mean things won’t happen, but there is no rioting or militar takeover stuff going on.
I’m not sure where you’re getting that information from.
His comment about being under Martial Law applies to them only, not to the American people. Not yet atleast.

Who, at this point, is capable of taking control of our government and restoring order? Since ALL 3 branches are corrupt by majority then the only alternative is Militia with military support! I do not want martial law any more than you however our constitutional rights provide for such action. If the Admirals and Generals that took the oath, “To Defend Against All Enemies Foreign And Domestic” then we should have their support as we are being destroyed by a corrupt and immoral governing body.
The military has as much to lose as the people do. How long will military men and women stay loyal to their command if they are sent home to patrol the streets of their home land where their families live and view us as the enemy? I, as a former soldier know that combat in a foreign land is horrible however I believe that our military will not come home and wage war on their own people for long, if at all, if ordered to do so. Even the Senior Commanders of our troops will see that what they are doing is wrong and in direct violation of the core of their oath, responsibility, and moral obligation to the USA.
I can only hope that I am correct in this way of thinking. I would like to believe that the dismissal of men such as Admiral Fallon and others like him that challenged the White House and Pentagon still have influence and reasonable friends in command. I love my country and despise our current government and this land belongs to us all. I now understand what the German people must have experienced as Hitler made his rise to power. Evil governments do not show up all at once and unannounced. They slowly destroy and undermine the country until they hold the power and the people are broken and live in fear of the situations that their leadership create. We are being held hostage for now. Without revolution, what will be next?

“Martial Law” is a term used by Congressman to describe a House procedural rule or action that calls for a vote only without debate or public hearings. It is not actual Martial Law.

I will concede the rules manual does not have “martial law” in its index. However, I didn’t search each section individually and there is no aggregate document, just the many subsections of the current rules.
But I repeat: this really sucks. They are clearly subverting the democratic process. This is obscene when the Democrats are shaking hands with Bush. Does this not seem a bit of a sea change from “Elect us so we’ll impeach the bastard”? WTF? Blues and Greens indeed!

We have been under martial law since 9/11, probably earlier. It is only the degree of said law in which we must measure. Consider the huge increase in police forces nation wide. Who are filling the ranks? Combat Vets from Iraq and Afghanistan. If you are a infantrymen the only crossover is cop in the civilian world. So taking that information into consideration, plus the fact that the powers that be are very cunning I would say we have been under martial law for quite sometime.

If you are not already, Exercise your 2nd amendment right while you still can. Do not act irresponsibly but protect you neighborhoods at all cost. Federal troops will begin patrolling civilians beginning tomorrow. I am not trying to incite violence just get the people to be ready for whatever. Read your constitution and know your rights. I’m a Jew and I’m not in control of any bank. Nor am I a rabid Zionist (Israel has a right to exist, but needs to get its sh*t in order and start treating Palestinians right). I’m solidly middle class, have a mortgage, and in all my years going to synagogue I’ve never met or heard of anyone who claims to control the banking industry, or knows someone who does. And don’t try to pin it on obscure “elite Jews.” Rockefeller isn’t a Jew. How about just accepting the fact that there are people of all races and religions who want control and power and will do anything to get it. Is Palin a Jew? Is Bush?
You don’t want someone judging you because you can’t spell or use punctuation and clearly have at most a 5th grade education, so why should *you* judge someone because they have a different religion?

Jesus, you people are a bunch of paranoid loons. First of all, only the President can declare martial law on American citizens; the speaker can’t. If you bothered to consider this before going off half-cocked, you’d realize how stupid you are to go off half-cocked. By your logic, the US and Canada should cede back all of its territory to the Native Americans whose cultures our founding fathers helped destroy in the original genocide. But I suppose from your way of thinking, caucasians can do anything they want, but Jews are inherently evil. If you had a clear understanding of how and why Israel was created, who lived there at the time of its creation, the role of England/Europe, the US, and the Arab countries, you might think differently. But while I’m willing to take a hard look at Israel’s policies and not give them my unyielding support, and I don’t believe that anyone’s religion gives them the right to steal land, you are unwilling to consider that you might have an extremist, uninformed view.

C’mon guys! Be nice – be cordial. I would start by reading your rights – your consitutional rights first off. Stand by those made by the founding fathers of this country. They had to lower the IQ in America to 100…because of lack of education, lack of reading – learning etc..compared to most top countries, the hires at Microsoft are 70% out of this country – sadly to say.
Keep the faith, fight back but be safe and be sure that you are fighting back without any backfires with each other. Let’s be comrades – afterall – that’s what this will all get to in the end – we are going to have to be there as a community again, not against each other. Overthrow this terrible regime govt we have and bring back the constitution rights. America was beautiful and can be again – we need to remember that.

Can someone explain to me exactly what Burgess was referring to when he made the martial law comment?
Had they been officially sequestered under martial law until a decision was reached or was he making a collorful and appropriate analogy/comment about the atmosphere at the capitol that day where he was thrown out of meetings? or what exactly? Where, for what purpose, region/area was martial law actually put into place? (Other than for all intents and purposes our entire nation, in essence under admiralty law with yellow fringed flags all over the place in every “official” building).

Those intellectuals who opt to continue onward with such a tired refrain are well aware that very little will change for the betterment of the American public-at-large, in spite of the media-controlled flood of campaign rhetoric on behalf of the respective nominees.
Many Americans may well wonder, “Why is it that we desire change in the first place?”
Whereas the Constitution of the United States was originally fabricated in order to give the American citizens a simple guideline for their representative government, more than two- hundred years of incessant Legislation has produced a miasma of orders, acts, statues and laws that are repugnant to the Constitution – each time these ideas have been merged into public policy in the name of change.
