Raw Story
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Former soldier Ralph Peters has carved out quite a niche for himself in the world of publishing. His work regularly lands on the pages of The New York Post and has cropped up in USA Today. He’s even a special contributor to Fox News.
But after today’s showing, in his latest column for the Journal of International Security Affairs, Mr. Peters seemingly treads very close to finding himself at odds with his journalistic colleagues.
After all, reporters don’t really like it when the editorial page calls for consideration of grinding them into bloody chunks as a matter of war policy.
In his latest essay, in a segment titled “The killers without guns,” Peters suggests that the media is responsible for “saving” Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, but that media had “failed to defeat” the U.S. government’s charge toward Iraq.
“Rejecting the god of their fathers, the neo-pagans who dominate the media serve as lackeys at the terrorists’ bloody altar,” he gallingly charges.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
It culminates:
Pretending to be impartial, the self-segregating personalities drawn to media careers overwhelmingly take a side, and that side is rarely ours. Although it seems unthinkable now, future wars may require censorship, news blackouts and, ultimately, military attacks on the partisan media. Perceiving themselves as superior beings, journalists have positioned themselves as protected-species combatants. But freedom of the press stops when its abuse kills our soldiers and strengthens our enemies. Such a view arouses disdain today, but a media establishment that has forgotten any sense of sober patriotism may find that it has become tomorrow’s conventional wisdom.
Because, of course, in Peters’ mind America can do no wrong:
The point of all this is simple: Win. In warfare, nothing else matters. If you cannot win clean, win dirty. But win. Our victories are ultimately in humanity’s interests, while our failures nourish monsters.
Jason Linkins over at Huffington Post evicerates this stunning outpouring of hatred.
I must say, considering the line-up of Neoconservative half-stars that is the Journal of International Security Affairs editorial board, this tripe is not surprising.
This reporter, in a rare editorial capacity, can only personally hope the emergence of such breathtaking savagery disguised as intelligent discourse will serve as an example to other rational thinkers as to how dangerous hyper-militarism and hawkish Neoconservatism really is.

The second you start believing that you can fight evil with evil you have already lost.
The article below describes succinctly where the focus needs to be placed to stop the New World Order. Alex Jones understands it, David Icke understands it, now the average man on the street needs to really take this point in and live it.

This guy is really just going along with the plan. I have heard several other news people, as well as people in government echo these beliefs, that the American people need to be cut off from the horrors of war, that we do not need to know how the government tortures, that we do not need to see the bodies of children, that those things get us involved… if they just say we killed 30 taliban supporters, it’s much easier for the public to get behind that, if they say they killed 28 children of taliban leaders aged 1 -12, then the public is outraged. This is all about keeping us in the dark, and getting people to cheer for the murder and torture of the the *enemy* to yell and shout Hooray for the war crimes our Armies and Generals commit, instead of condoning them. Look at how well Hitler had Germany controlled with media and propaganda. Many people would have stopped supporting him, if they knew the horrors the armies were committing, but he put a happy face on it, and the media sold it as the best thing on earth, and the people smiled, thinking they were doing good. More than just Jewish people died in that war, although that’s all we ever hear about. But still the propaganda kept the war machine living.

What he is saying is “END THE INTERNET.”
Then they can go back to media control. Folks don’t read, and they can keep the crap off of T.V. and show folks American Idol and it will all be fine….

There was an article on Sky News yesterday. Apparently, the newspapers are suffering because their readers are relying on websites such as Twitter as their main source of information.
If the internet information were to be censored heavily, users would resort to exchanging information through burning DVD’s/CD’s and memory sticks – just one of each could contain a weeks worth of downloadable content.

You capture the sentiment well. The love of war is a disease that’s getting stronger every day, infesting more and more of our culture, our volksgeist, if you will.
A great article about that: http://www.truthdig.com/report.....anent_war/
Ralph Peters is just a symptom, a tumor we know about, but there are lots more, big and small.

Let me get this straight. Journalists are responsible for the failures in the Mid East?
Are you sure it wasn’t sheep burps?
May 27th, 2009 at 6:55 am
What in the hell is that guy talking about? Our press is owned and run by the very people he want’s to do the murdering. What truth that has come out of their continued war crimes has been by reading between the lines of their corporate owned news meister’s. That and the information that slips between their news censoring blackouts by eyewitness’s to the crimes.
There’s way to much secrecy already. How do you think things ever got so screwed up to begin with.
This guy should set the precedent by doing himself in.

Ralph Peters falsely thinks that the USA is good and that other nations are bad. Actually the opposite is true. The USA, Israel, and their allies are the worst aggressor nations in the world today. Most of the so-called ‘Terrorist’ attacks that have been committed against the USA, Israel, and their allies during the past sixty years have actually been false-flag attacks that were committed by the USA and Israel in an effort to demonize the Middle Eastern nations that the USA, Israel, and their allies seek to conquer and control.
People like Ralph Peters are not fighting for a good cause with evil methods; they are fighting for a bad cause with evil methods. The aggression, Imperialism, torture, false flag attacks, lies and propaganda committed by the USA are symptoms of a morally corrupt society, and the USA has been morally corrupt ever since its creation in 1776. Slavery, Imperialism, and the genocide of Native Americans were approved of by the USA’s Founding Fathers.
Imperialism, torture, false-flags attacks, and the slaughter of innocents by US and US-backed Israeli troops is not happening in spite of the USA’s Christian Heritage; these things are happening BECAUSE OF the USA’s Christian heritage.

You stupid stupid person Cassandra. Who said that the USA’s christian heritage had anything to do with this. REAL Christians do not approve of what your government does. REAL informed Christians do not approve of any war that has happened in history. All wars have been propegated by Satan worshippers posing as Christians. So please do not insult my Christian heritage by saying that a Christian heritage makes you evil. And by the way these Devil worshippers have through history taken over the Christian faith (in the form of the Catholic church) and done evil things with it’s power. Because of the abuse at the hands of this church and other so called Christians through history, we come to a generation of Christian haters. The Devil worshippers at the head of this demonisation have done an excellent job of this. The fact still remains (one of which you will admit to in coming years when judgement comes) that Jesus Christ did come to earth. He did atone for all sins of mankind. And those who accept him as their saviour will have place with him in his Father’s kingdom. Distraction from your real creator has always been the plan of these evil people.

Up through Vietnam journalists were allowed to go wherever they wanted to in a theater of war, and they were considered off limits as targets by both sides.
(Of course, it wasn’t until Vietnam that they & the papers they worked for chose to act as anything other than a propaganda arm for our government.)
Check out a great book called DISPATCHES by Michael Herr.
He traveled all over Vietnam during that war, hopping a cargo plane or helicopter or hitching a ride with the troops to their next battle.
Kubrick used it as one of the sources for FULL METAL JACKET.
When you see the kind of access he had & then compare it to the complete control exercised over today’s “embedded” journalists, it’s pretty hard not to argue that our news is officially censored.
Hell, the media barely even mentions the wars anymore, let alone actually shows or discusses what’s really going on.
May 27th, 2009 at 9:25 am
This guy is a nut for saying we might need to kill reporters.
I would just ban them from certain battlefields.
The fact our troops are second guessing their combat reactions because the fear of being prosecuted by the cameraman’s one sided perspective of the situation is wrong.
Those who have never been in combat will have a very hard time understanding this.
When the bullets and bombs start flying, the way you react and the things you will do to survive are not always the first “good idea” that you would think of in peace time thinking about combat. Only those who have been know.
As far as “Im bored with the USA’s comments- 1st, if you are bored, get the fuck out. We dont want you. 2nd, if you really want 10 megapixel videos of US troops getting killed all over the internet so fat conspiracy theorist can get off on watching them die, then FUCK YOU.
The media is censored, but not by the people you are implying.
Look at the Tsunami. We put 27,000 US troops into the most Muslim populated country int he world and there were NO embedded reporters. You know why? They dont give a fuck about GOOD THINGS. Killing muslims isn’t as news worthy as saving them, so the people in the middle east never see us doing good and they keep believing the propaganda about us and keep fighting us. Ultimately giving the media all the good blood and guts bombs going off footage they will ever need.
There is no news in the truth, and no truth in the news

“Love it or leave it” is about as fascist a sentiment as can be imagined – Why doesn’t it surprise me that a stooge like you would espouse it?
We are paying for these wars, they are being fought in our name, and we have the right – if not obligation – to know what’s going on there, especially as our fellow citizens are being killed fighting them.
Why is it that the vets in Vietnam, Korea, and WWII wanted the world to see what they were going through, but a jackass like you thinks a free society should have a censored news media?
Why is it that our current vets go out of their way to post images of battle online that the media won’t touch?
It’s because the truth is far more important than any sort of propaganda that people like you would prefer to embrace.
Also, there were no “embedded” journalists after the tsunami – which was covered in great detail & length by both the print & television media – because the government wasn’t trying to impose a false narrative over the reality of the situation there.

The reporters that go into these places sometimes seem braver than the armed soldiers that escort them if they are lucky enough to have protection at all. Without the real human journalists we would be at the mercy of the whitewashed media. It is these brave searchers of the real story that allows us into this world of the victims of war as well as exposure of their inhumane tactics and mistakes. To the profiteers they are a threat. When a reporter like this is killed in a war zone intentionally you know they were too close to the truth. The Road to Bosnia documentary reporter and those like him are by far to me as brave as any soldier. They are Unsung Heroes.

He didnt say anything about “disagreeing”. He was talking about being BORED with the USA.
As much as I hate to admit it. He makes a good point. These guys are fighting cause they take orders, cause they have to. The troops are dooped into believing what they are doing is for the good, for the people. Obviously that is not the case. BUT That is a whole OTHER issue..
What he is saying is right. If you send some 20 year old over to fight a war, and he is worrying about what is going to happen to him on the battle field because of a camera, that puts HIS life in danger. Just because that kid was never able to think for himself or look at the facts and see that he shouldn’t be over there at all doesn’t make it right to risk his life or to kill him.
The higher ups..sure..kill em all..but theres no need for these naive kids to have any unnecessary stresses in a already incredible stressful situation. If they make it home they’re bad decisions will catch up with them, including everything from physiological to physical traumas they will never be the same again. That is their own damn fault and I dont feel sorry for them at all over that, but its not up to us to make it worst on them.
Reconmarine is also right by saying if you have not been to war then you dont know what its like. So dont pretend you do. Unless you have been to war or been brought up in the middle of Compton I suggest you bite your tongue in cheeck. I havn’t been to war or brought up in Compton, but im not going to pretend i know what it is like. I can only imagine, and i know that its 1000 times worst than what I can imagine.
The war field is NO place for cameras..
Bum fucking children? well thats a different story. But im sure the soldiers aren’t bum fucking children on the battlefield.
I wish Hunter S. Thompson was still around cause he would expose the stupidity, ignorance, and adolescence of this so called “truth” movement. The 60’s failed miserably and this new generation will fail with even worst consequences. The sad thing is, the heart behind the truth movement, all the bad actions that the elite are taking is worth fighting for, worth dying for. But they have dumbed you down so goddamn much that you cant even see it with your own 2 eyes.
So turn on, tune in, and drop out. the world isnt just black and white. Remove yourself from that self proclaimed kings chair and realize that you too are part of the problem and not the solution.

The antiwar movement of the 1960s failed because we stopped short of overthrowing the US government and executing most of the politicians on the Washington Mall. Big mistake, and today we are paying the consequences for our pacifism.

The US troops are not heroes. Nor are they victims. They are the willing tools of evil leaders, a corrupt system, and a depraved national ideology. The US troops do not defend the American people or protect the American people. They do not perform a service for the American people. They are security guards, hit-men, and enforcers for US gangsters, and as such they are not noble or moral, being mere gang-bangers. They do not deserve our respect or our sympathy. Considering the apparently wasted years of education that most of them have recieved, they surely should know that what they are doing is serving evil. Shame on them.
