McNamara was stifiling field reports from recon teams about NVA Troop movements and strength as well as foreign Soviet and Chinese Troop and advisor activity in order to present a more favorable picture of what was happening on the ground. He did this for the most part to protect his position and career.

Note the “Gore” LBJ mentions in the recording is Al Gore’s father. LBJ’s biggest argument between McNamara and Gore was that they were claiming an attack when there wan not one and figuratively using the example of a woman hollering rape claiming or assuming she was attacked simply because a man walked into a room and she felt threatened.

Bush 1 is easily the most evil. Head of CIA. Involved in numerous assassinations including the Kennedys(both of them). Business with our enemies(including Bin Ladens family) etc. And Clinton sucks, but is he the most amoral simply because of Lewisnky? News flash, lots of presidents cheated on their wives. I think its more amoral to kill people(i know Clinton ok’ed that too but not on the level of others. Like Bush 2 for instance.)
