Government long ago gave up balancing the import/exports. Sub-prime credit for housing. Consumer credit that would take years to pay off. Borrowed from other countries and that is for starters.

That is one hell chunk of debt to be paid off. It will be paid now with deflation, and devaluation of the dollar. That is property values going to half or better. Stocks will drop half again, also. The debt will be taken in bankruptcy and hard work. The dollar devalued to make imports less then exports.

Now to ease the spanking Americans need to immediately start paying off debt and saving. The Federal government needs to pay off debt and cut expenditures. Which means many of the programs we have become accustomed to. Need to go.

Americans need to also, buy less abroad and more here, even if it costs more. Now that is the solution, but who is the first volunteer. I thought so.

Stand out of the way, because capitalism will do what it does to balance the Federal Reserve easy credit intervention created for big government politicians and a handful of bankers as I described above.

Intervention now is exactly what caused this problem and will only make it worst. Of course politicians jobs and government are on the line to be bankrupted also.
