Texas Congressman says former Fed Chairman is “pretending” he didn’t see the economic crisis coming

Ron Paul Hits Out At Arrogant Greenspan 241008Greenspan Texas Congressman Ron Paul has blasted former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, calling him “intellectually arrogant” after he blamed free market capitalism for the current financial crisis and diverted questions away from his own actions.

“I think he’s trying to save his place in history but I don’t think he’s going to achieve it unless he confesses and goes back to his roots and goes back to writing articles for Ayn Rand.” Paul told Neil Cavuto on Fox Business yesterday evening.

“There’s no way he’s going to escape the blame for this, I guess I am shocked also that he pretends he is shocked too.” Paul, a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, commented.

Greenspan yesterday described the current financial crisis as a “once-in-a-century credit tsunami” and blamed flaws in the workings of the free-market system, something he said had left him in a “state of shocked disbelief”.

“What I really resent about it is that he knows and understood at one time what capitalism was all about. He went and distorted it,” Ron Paul urged.

“Now he says ‘this is the death of capitalism and what we need now are really really good regulations on derivatives.’ No, we need to remove the system that creates derivatives.”

Paul asserted that the Federal Reserve chairman, whoever it may be, does not have the wisdom to regulate monetary policy because they are driven to excess and are part of an inherently flawed system.

“In a way they are intellectually arrogant because they believe that only they know what the market knows. Nobody knows what the proper rate of interest is, it’s always too high or too low.” Paul said

    1. TiredFarmer Says:

Congressman Ron Paul shows class & restraint with his words for Greenshitspan. I congradulate Dr. Paul. Greenspan is nothing more than a lying fucktard NeoCon of the highest order.

    2. P Renaud Says:

I think on Paul was pretty easy on the former Fed chairman.

It was Greenspan’s intentional policy of artificially low interest rates and an over-active printing press that caused this ‘bubble’ system in the first place. The idea that a man with his knowledge and experience could not predict the end result of these policies is not only unbelievable, it’s laughable.

The Fed is a private corporation, registered in Delaware. Standard & Poors lists the owners:

      1. Rothchild banks of London and Berlin.
      2. Lazard Brothers Banks of Paris.
      3. Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy.
      4. Warburg Bank of Hamburg and Amsterdam.
      5. Lehman Brothers Bank of New York.
      6. Kuhn, Loeb bank of New York.
      7. Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, which controls all of the other 11 Federal Rwerve Banks.
      8. Goldman, Sachs Bank of New York.

Thomas Jefferson predicted this 200 years ago:

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Wake up people, it’s not the free-market system that is to blame, it’s a corrupt govornment colluding with eliteist bankers to rob our freedom and our wealth. They want control of the global economy and they are ruining our country to get it.

    3. SOVEREIGNTY SOLDIER Says:

This is the man to rally behind. If the elites know he commands millions of “sleeper” patriots, then we have a voice at the table.

    4. BrandonFW Says:

Pull your money out of Chase and put it in State Farm Bank.

    5. SOVEREIGNTY SOLDIER Says:

This is the man to rally behind. If the elites know he commands millions of “sleeper” patriots, then we have a voice at the table and a central figure to take our cues from enmasse.

    6. Scott Says:

Guys like Greenspan our as close a man to Satan as we will see. The man knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

      To P Renaud:

Thanks for naming the names that deserve to be publicized. May we and our posterity remember them as some of the most evil and greedy men in the history of the world.

And thanks for the Jefferson quote, I sent it out to everyone on my email distribution list.

And God bless Ron Paul for being the only one to say it like it really is. The rest are cowards.

    12. RealityBase Says:

Let Greensham keep opening his mouth. Every time he does he hangs himself even more with his “playing dumb” charade. The guy has too much of an ego to just go hide like the rest of the has been criminals.

    13. Rich Says:

Rom Paul for President. Write him in.

    14. Peter Says:

      Well said #2 (P Renaud)
The problem is we need to tell everyone. If the populace woke up all at once and said “Enought is enough”, they would chase the bankers into the ocean. This is the only solution.

      Power in numbers

Lest we forget how these mainstream scumbags ridiculed and abandoned Ron Paul during a campaign platform that addressed this exact same issue. All the snickering, nudging each other, and grab assing when Ron Paul spoke about ANYTHING, has turned into a shitload of ass kissing and ball sucking.

FUCK these no-neck assholes and their crocodile tears….especially that little jerk off, Cavuto.

    21. David Says:

To P Renaud, your right about what Jefferson warned and I think Ron Paul showed his usuall brilliance in these two interviews. I do beleive he made clever statements that did show Greeenspan for what he has become as TiredFarmer first said a lying ********neocon of the highest order and I would like to add to form a new world order

    23. Social Viability Says:

Why we still pay attention to these low-life criminals is beyond me. If a doctor kept telling you to drink gasoline and snort Draino to improve your health (and then was shocked when you got sick), you’d brush him off as an idiot and never go back to his practice again. Yet we keep relying on these morons to run our society.

“Well, what are we supposed to do?” you say. “They run our country and they hold the power.”

Here’s what you do: You stop using their filthy money.

Just because they issue it doesn’t mean you should keep using it. Yes, they’ll enforce legal tender laws and force you to accept it. But they can’t stop you from exchanging the filthy money for some other currency.

We can take back the power by simply using an alternative currency. All we need to do to unseat our rulers is stop using their money. When we switch to an alternative currency their system will fall. The central banks will dissolve and their political actors will be out of a job.

So what currency should you use as an alternative? Click the link below and begin exploring the new social systems that we can use to climb out of this disaster that is looming.

and this 700 Billiion BAIL OUT will not help a single person who actually is desperate to have some help in the form of strengthening the American Economy instead of Big Bank Balance Sheets (why help only the banks well that was all the care CONGRESS could muster up)….
Screw the Banksters and thier LOBBYISTS wanting to hog all the 700 BILLION all to themselves while they watch the whole system Crash and Burn….

Too Bad Ron Paul is probably right, the betrayel of the Neoconcon to the Base Republican party will probably see decimation even if McCain Pulls off an aerial backflip and wins this. The Repubs are out of Congress no matter what, we can only hope there will be some CHECK to thier (Dems) power.

    26. Jin Says:

If we took all that money these scumbags paid out and gave it to the mob to take these TOTAL SCUM out of our society.. we’d be better off. We’d be protected better than we are. Organized crime seems to have become way too organized and now we don’t even know the names of the bosses who are taking our money and paying the enemy to harm us. Pretty interesting how the Gov is the biggest MOB there ever was and they continue to gamble away our savings year after year and generation after generation. I am 38.. I wonder how people younger than me feel. I have a feeling that’s very evident when you see how violent and out of control this world is. We are so desperate for control of ANYTHING we chose to believe in conspiracy over truth. Truth is much stranger than fiction!! This country really is so full of sick twisted fat white elitist men it’s disgusting.. I am sick of living in America. I am sick that my decendents thought this would be a “better” place to come. They should have just waited a few decades. I can’t even imagine how many decades it’s going to take to make this shithole right!

I am having trouble with my inlaws coming to know the truth, I want to keep telling them anyhow cause I love them. My mom is now listening along with my husband’s aunt! 31. Swede1 Says:

During the Republican primaries: Mitt Romney: “I dont think were in a recession”, Huckabee: “I Hope were not in a recession”, Guilliani: “We have a strong economy”, RON PAUL: “What do you MEAN were not in a recession?” I will never forget that, and he said this with quite a bit of conviction. Remember when he was kinda shoved in the corner as ususal at the primaries? RP had to step a bit outside the podium to ask all his running mates what the heck they were talking about. ron Paul is truely a statesman and has been relentless with Greenspan and now Bernake throughout this entire time since the primaries and especially now. I really respect and love the heck out of RP.

    32. anon Says:

REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE TALK ABOUT THIS MORNING, THE DOW IS UP, NOW LET’S TURN TO POLITICS. This guy is an absolute shill a$$hole. Ron Paul should have ended the interview on that bs segway.

    33. Bill Says:

Ron Paul is too decent and intellectually honest a politician to ever achieve high office in America and that shows the dire and corrupt state of the country’s establishment. The only way is down now…

    34. Land Of Confusion Says:

Some business guy STEALS a Bank, he’s a big SUCCESS story. Face in all the magazines. Some other guy steals the magazine and he’s busted.
When the Chinese start complaining about BushCo. you know we got some real problems. I guess when your national debt is reliant upon the Communist Chinese for support, we might as well start learning a new language…

      RON PAUL 2008!

    35. alex hidel Says:

Why is nobody asking the Pres candidates if they are willing to reach across to Ron Paul ? Powell, McClellan, Gore, etc don’t even has a base, they are even running for office but are considered for positions ?

Why are we analyzing Joe Plumber’s economics and Micheal Moore’s ?

Ron Paul needs to be pushed into a cabinet position, Ron Paul for Treasury Sec.

At least the short time he is there, he will shoot straight and show us the damage that is done.

    36. Rhonda Says:

      RON PAUL IS OUR HERO!

      Rhonda

    37. paolo Says:

Absolute deregulation is always going to lead to money ending up in the hands of a few super rich individuals, its economies of scale. Ron Pauls free market ideas seem naive. Its not less regulation but more that is needed, deregulation led to this mess.

    38. Titonwan Says:

People in this country CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH. RP is a Statesman and Patriot and America is not worthy of him. Dr. NO is a Hero.

    39. hunthimdown Says:

The US will go into a depression.

    40. TRUTH Says:

Prepare for the winter, soon there will be no food, or home, and maybe even power to live in during these coldest winters ever….NWO?

    41. P Renaud Says:

      Paolo, your way off base.

It was not de-regulation that caused this mess, it was a Govornment and Fed policy of regulation that MANDATED the banks lowering loan standards for lower income earners (that IS regulation), in conjunction with 25+ years of artificially low interest rates and an increase in money supply by 45 times 1980 levels.

The crimes that exascerbated this were to allow banks and brokerage houses to merge and create derivatives, and to allow them to buy AAA insurance for sub-prime backed instruments. They did it intentionally to discredit the free market.

The very people that orchestrated this are now in control of the solution, as they intended.

We have pinned a badge on the foxes that raided the henhouse and put them in charge of security. We have given them a blank check with no oversight or accountability, and they are using their new powers to create a world banking authority that will contol our credit and money supply, while they use the money we gave them to buy everything in sight.

This is the predictable end of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

Thomas Jefferson said 200 years ago:

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

    42. Del Says:

Dr Paul is the Mohammid Ali of our political system and of our time.

911 was an INSIDE JOB!!! Del

    43. paolo Says:

      P Renaud

To use the govts mandating the lowering of bank standards for loan applicants as an example of regulation is a bit dishonest when it obviously represents a loosening of regulatary controls.
One more link in the chain of deregulation that hit many if not all sectors of finance since the Friedmanites came into fashion via Reaganomics and Thatcherism at the begining of the 80s.

“The crimes that exascerbated this were to allow banks and brokerage houses to merge and create derivatives…”

The significant word being “allow”, ie the neccessary regulatory structure to prevent this didnt exist!

    44. WIGGINS Says:

I can’t understand how people pay interest on money that doesn’t exist. And, how people pay taxes that end up in the Federal Reserve…..and wait for it ; is leant back to the US Treasury with INTEREST. Damn clever the Morgans et al that set this up. They’ll be richer than Croesus. Storm the ‘Bastille’ now before it’s too late.

    45. WIGGINS Says:

The reason the press don’t cover Ron Paul, is because that Australian Illuminati ASSHOLE controls the media in the US and Europe. This CSMF has too much power…..eliminate the C**T.

    46. suffering fool Says:

      Write-in: Ron!
We need a “control” in this experiment called democracy.
That, or don’t vote at all.
Alas, the latter would only be effective en masse which would never happen.
A write-in would be “heard” each time it’s done (make it Ron Paul, he deserves it).

    47. suffering fool Says:

      I forgot to mention:
DON’T DRINK THE WATER! (or soft drinks…especially ‘diet’).
Water Fluoridation is the root cause of everything that’s wrong with/in the USA. Period.

    50. youngbuck Says:

      @P Renaud

Your remarks makes total sense while paolo is immersed in a web of confusion spoon-fed to him verbatim ad infinitum. He adheres to the 10th grade level of social studies but he is unable to preserve the absence of regulatory controls given by the federal reserve, regardless of “loosening” or tightning, since he is obviously shortsighted and stuck in a vicious propaganda cycle given to him at a venerable age.

    51. paolo Says:

well thanks for that youngbuck, you are obviously a master of this field.
Watching a few videos on google and youtube doesnt make you an expert on the federal reserve.
I agree that the FED shouldnt be in private hands (thanks Renaud for putting up that list), i also believe that the government should be responsible for running social services and that includes ownership and management of energy and health services amongst other things and here my opinions appear to diverge from those of Ron Paul.
The trend of the last 30 years is unquestionably one of increasing deregulation, that is what has got us into this mess. I wonder if Ron Paul is also now unsure of his position on regulation/deregulation as the interviewer asked him if he was for the markets regulating themselves he seemed to stutter somewhat steering the discussion back to the populistic subject of corruption.
I dont pretend to know the answers but it seems obvious that the economy cannot regulate itself and anyone that thinks it can is naive.

    52. "C" Says:

Ive read Greenspans early dissertations on both economics, and finance. IMO his crime is extreme age and lengthy exposure to the beltway. He should have retired after Reagan.

    57. we all know nothing Says:

For someone that the elite supposedly hate, Dr. Paul sure does receive a lot of air time on CNN and FOX to espouse his “anti-establishment” views… The left gatekeepers are pretty good at keeping us confused and guessing.

    58. we all know nothing Says:

      all propaganda.

    59. Jason Says:

      Here’s the scoop,
Everything is going to hell in a basket and the Media is trying to save face.
This allows them to carry on the game that we are all in. Ron Paul Tells all and the media shows that he is very understandable in our plight. This allows the Media to Lie on all other topics about the election and the false canidates who are controled by the elitist who own US!

    60. Raymond Swartz Says:

As soon as Ron Paul mentions that the American People need to get rid of or regulate the Federal Reserve all news casters go “um, well, um, that doesn’t matter because the staock market is still bad. Hey, dumbasses ABOLISH THE FEDERAL RESERVE!!!

    62. Rep. M.J. Foxx Says:

Ron Paul never give up. It is amazing that this situation has unraveled very close to the time Ron Paul foresaw that Enron Style Accounting by our government is paramount to the destruction of the money supply this country relies on. We waste Billions on the War On Drugs, the same war that has seen increase in drugs from a US controlled Afganistan. Also now we have millions doing time for “personal use” in a police state that is struggling to find any real crime therefore they want to enslave as many as they can while the government gravy train is running as fast as possible. You can be sure the government is not out of money til they open up the prison doors filled with non violent people who still have families, etc. The only solution for America being #! in the world for imprisoning its own people, ahead of COMMUNIST China for god sakes….

Yet again Ron Paul was right all along and no one listened to him. My friend likened this entire situation to some Greek tragedy, and I sadly agree.

Neither of the two clowns at the forefront of this election, in my opinion, deserve my vote. Therefore, I’ll be writing in Ron Paul’s name in November.

People seem to forget there are more than 2 choices during an election. I find the blatant mass-media favoritism and incessant mud-slinging to be boring, hypocritical and [as it is really meant to be] a distraction.

Voice your opinion, and do it loudly! (http://www.thirdpartyvote.com)

Dr. Paul – My thanks for always telling it like it is. You are an inspiration to me and a brave soul indeed. Keep fighting the good fight, we’re right behind you!

Lets unwind all the dirivative trades back to zero and see who bitches.

    65. Litigator Says:

In New Orleans I stood in line for THREE HOURS surrounded by Obamabots to cast my vote for Ron Paul, and I felt damn good about it, and so sad at the same time.

    66. Rep. Chris Rock Says:

      Paul (400) 25% McCain (358) 22%

Montana has a chance to Repeat. Repeat its win over McCain in Montana
These are the actual results and if the VOTE was held again today amid the Bail-Out that McCain supported I would suggest that Dr. Paul would beat his opponent in a much bigger rout of probably around 9 to 11 percent…

Oh and Ron Paul we never really congratulated you for beating out all the other Republicans in the YouTube Primary(Barrak won the Dem YouTube Primary)

    67. Genesis Says:

      Romney 22,646 51%
      Paul 6,084 14%
      McCain 5,650 13%

Dr. Paul DEFEATED McCain once again in NEVADA
So if you see Dr. Paul on the Ballot in your state (President of Montana for sure) dont forget to vote Dr. Paul on every ballot he is listed!

The Ron Paul r3V07ution is over, the Second American Revolution has just begun!

    69. Rob Says:

Credit rating agencies like Moody’s and S&P, Central Banker like Greenspan, Investment Banker like Paulson, Auditor like Aurthur Anderson, every one is responsible for the present crisis but the finger is pointed on the small borrowers for taking Mortgages that they can not service.
For God sake wake up and punish the culprits rather than the victims i.e.the marginal borrowers.
Is it not wise to suggest that all those who took big fat bonus as CEOs of the Investment banks pay back all their unearned income by way of infalting the Balance Sheets and wining and dinning with the top guys named above.
The right way is to make all those responsible, pay for the bail out and not the tax payers. But then the fox Paulosn is the one who is guarding the hen house.
