Former Congressman says Senator “in a much better position” than he was

Former Congressmen Ron Paul said that his son Senator Rand Paul is “in a much better position” than he ever was to mount a successful presidential run in 2016 during an appearance on The Alex Jones Show.

Paul said he was forced to toil for decades in a bid to get a shot at the White House but that his son Rand was “in a much better position” due to him being a Senator and that his chances were greater because the “freedom movement is much further along,” and foreign policy is in a shambles.

“I think he’s in a much better position now to play an instrumental role,” said the former Congressman, adding that most people have assumed Rand will run for president although Rand himself has not made a final decision.

Current presidential betting odds show that Rand Paul is the 5th favorite to become president in 2016 behind Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush. According to a RealClearPolitics polling average, Paul is second favorite for the Republican nomination, just four points behind Christie.

While Rand Paul has said he is still considering whether to run for the Republican nomination in 2016, political observers are largely confident that the Kentucky Senator will throw his hat in the ring. However, Paul recently admitted that his wife was attempting to convince him against the idea.

“There’s two votes in my family. My wife has both of them and both of them are ‘no’ votes right now,” said the Senator.

Addressing recent concerns that Obama could seek to change election laws in order to run for office again, Paul said that it was wrong to complain that the executive was turning into a dictatorship merely under Obama because most of the policies he intensified were established under the previous Republican administration.

“I think we’re going to accept a dictatorship that is elected,” said Paul, dismissing fears that Obama would run for a third term.

“But that doesn’t mean that we will have a less dictatorial government,” he added.
