Former Republican president candidate Ron Paul appeared on The Colbert Report Thursday to discuss his absence from the Republican National Convention at a time when other unsuccessful candidates — Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee — were all making appearances to praise John McCain.
“You say you did not speak at the Republican National Convention because you do not feel welcome there,” Stephen Colbert suggested.
“No, I did not. I don’t like to be pushy,” Paul replied modestly, before flashing a wide grin.
(Article continues below)
“But just because you weren’t welcome, that’s no reason not to speak,” Colbert objected. “I mean, certainly Bush spoke, and he was not welcome.”
“Could you have gotten a slot if you’d played ball with those guys?” Colbert continued.
“Yes,” Paul replied
“What would it have meant to you?” Colbert asked. “What would you have to have given up?”
“Everything I believed in,” Paul stated.
“So, just like everybody else,” Colbert commented, adding, “Listen, you want to play with the big boys, you got to play along.”
“I would have had to do this,” said Paul, raising his hands as if to kowtow and intoning, “‘I accept everything in your platform and I love John McCain.’”
“What’s your problem with that?” Colbert asked. “When you’re a Republican, those guys are known for their discipline. … It’s a war, sir.”
“I didn’t feel too badly about it,” Paul affirmed. He added conspiratorially, “There’s a few members of Congress who say, ‘Would you help me out, because I’d like you to support me and send out an email and give me an endorsement.’”

Of course you have to play along with these guys or else you’ll be excluded or taken outta the way. Both parties work that way because behind both parties have the same people calling the shots. I admire Ron Paul and his courage towards the shadow government and that’s what we have to do, being afraid to die or afraid of death threats is just showing your weakness. Eventually sooner or later you’ll have to die so what difference does it make if it’s today or tomorrow?

yeah, thats easy for u to say. its not yur life on the line at the moment. But in essence, I agree with you and I too admire Ron Paul for standing up for his convictions and telling the truth. Only one that has done so as far as i can see…..

Write him in guys, write him in.

Quantum, please, everybody’s life is on the line right now. I do plan to write in Dr. Paul, as does my husband. Voting for the lesser of two evils is over. I don’t want the best of the worst, I want the best of the best. So, having said as much and knowing it’s never going to happen, I’m voting for Ron Paul, thus, voting my conscience.

RP knows his place with the NWO. And, they welcome him as a perceived alternative and a tool for spreading fear mongering about the Government. They keep him on a pretty short leash though.
Anyone else who speaks out about truth(or close to it) is probably in the same boat. If not, they are made to disappear.

realitybase:
Ron Paul is NOT “NWO”, and if he was, they would have let him win. The fact that his ideals are not allowed to be broadcast to a wide audience is proof positive that he is anything BUT “NWO”. Do you have any BETTER candidates in mind? In what way is he a “tool”? The fact that they did not want him at the GOP Convention and took away signs and buttons from his supporters tells me that he is a true and serious threat to the NWO, not one of its “tools”. Are you thinking of the fact that one of his relatives was a Freemason? This fact does NOT make him an “NWO tool”. Yeah, if Ron Paul IS chosen as McCain’s running mate, and Ron Paul ACCEPTS, we’ll see just how “NWO” he is when he is OFFED by the NWO.

It would be better to rally for “free elections” and start organizing a boycott against the rigged dog and pony shows of the power establishment. If it’s done right, that would be a sure fire way to start a revolution.

realitybase: I agree with you. RP says we shouldn’t impeach Bush(while bragging that he supported impeaching Clinton over a blow job) and doesn’t care about the truth behind 9/11. He’s a master of words and he knows what he can say to who. He’s a hack. Cynthia McKinney is my choice, screw the rest.

RON Paul is an enemy to the new world order Republican corporate whores. why would they want him there and why would he want to go and capitulate, the guy has guts not going. He is now officialy telling America the government is illegitamate and he wants no part of it. How many of the people in congress would even dare to be so audacious.

I love Ron Paul, I got my copy of his book autographed at “Borders” in NYC in April and he is exactly the way you see him on TV, he’s NOT fake at all. I am also a supporter of the new movement they created. The point is that we can’t stop now that he’s not an official candidate. We must keep supporting him 100%. And I hope everyone votes for any other party; other than the 2 corporate owned ones.
September 6th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
ron paul can win the election if 40 million people just write him in when they go and vote. JUST WRITE RON PAUL IN

RP has started and kept the Patriot movement going pretty damn good, even though he droppped out. He had to drop out as I am almost 100% sure his family’s lives were threatened. As far as the money, he is still usung it for Patriotic events like the duel one at the RNC, ect. He will continue to dole it out to average Patriots to run for local and state offices who are like we are. The man had money way before us. He didn’t need more to keep living a good life just as a Congressman and doctor. Nor did his son, who could end up being someone to take on the fight. You only need so much when you are in your 70’s and know time is limited.
The RP bashers can kiss my ass. He isn’t lying. Look at his record as a TX congressman for over 10 years! He put over 4,000 on this world by delivery. He’s a good man. The only man in politics who has seen more vagina than any other and in a reputable, honest way. Not so for so many others in that profession.

I saw the videos of the Ron Paul convention……..but I’ll always remember the black guy with his wife and children wanting a better future. He probably said it best many than the others because he had children and believed in the hope of the future of the next generation. I think that seems to be lost on political rhetoric, it’s deadpan. Ron Paul had two things going for him sincerity and conviction. He promised and meant it. It’s an honorable attribute, not only for an American, but for a human being.

“70’s and know time is limited.” Everyone’s time is limited on this earth. It’s what you do with it that makes a difference.
Quotes by Robert F. Kennedy:
There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask, ‘Why?’ I dream of things that never were, and ask ‘Why not?’
The future does not belong to those who are content with today, apathetic toward common problems and their fellow man alike, timid and fearful in the face of bold projects and new ideas. Rather, it will belong to those who can blend passion, reason and courage in a personal commitment to the great enterprises and ideals of American society.
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.
