When followers of erstwhile presidential candidate Ron Paul said they were going to stage an alternate convention, they meant it. Pretty much everything about Paul’s grassroots Rally for the Republic stands in stark contrast to the Republican national convention getting underway in St. Paul.
Its delegates are on their way via “Ronvoy,” a caravan of minivans and charter buses organized on the Internet. Many are eschewing hotels in favor of campgrounds and RV parks in Twin Cities exurbs, according to organizers. Still others will arrive just in time for the rally, a 12-hour marathon of speakers and entertainers taking place Tuesday at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.
“Most of our people are not wealthy,” said Drew Ivers, a longtime GOP activist who is Paul’s delegate coordinator. “They’re working people feeling the pinch. They’re not country-club elitists. With the price of gas, they’re caravanning in in minivans and the like.

“These people are sacrificing to make this happen,” Ivers added. “I think it’s commendable.”
Speakers expected at the rally include former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, MSNBC correspondent Tucker Carlson, anti-tax lobbyist Grover Norquist, Barry Goldwater Jr., son of the late presidential candidate, and Barb White, a candidate in Minnesota’s fifth congressional district.
On hand to entertain the 10,000 supporters organizers say they expect will be musicians Marc Scibilia, Rockie Lynne, Sara Evans and Aimee Allen, the voice behind “The Ron Paul Revolution Theme Song.” Tickets, still available at Ticketmaster at press time, are priced at a cheeky $17.76.
$4.7 million in campaign coffers
A physician and 10-term congressman from the greater Houston area, Paul officially suspended his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination in June. Instead, he announced, he would use the $4.7 million remaining in his campaign coffers to underwrite the Campaign for Liberty, a grassroots effort to push libertarian-minded candidates for local offices across the country.

Ron Paul is a great American. And what makes him great is his love of everything right about this country, everything that sets us apart as a nation (or at least used to). We are the country that used to stand for limited government and individual freedom and liberty. Now our federal government, or should we say “central” government, has undermined most of the states’ rights and has seriously curtailed individual’s rights as well. Legislation like the Patriot Act must be recognized for what it is. The Patriot Act basically allows the government to treat everyone like a terrorist suspect. It’s an incredible change in a nation’s character. Are we innocent until proven guilty, or are we guilty until proven innocent? The Patriot Act would have you believe the latter. It’s 180 degrees from what we used to believe! Only by having a pacified population that no longer wants to take personal responsibility for their lives can you pull off such a remarkable about face. America is in for a long, dark winter if it thinks it can police the world and force a one world order on everyone.
Ron Paul was the only candidate that talked about building a foreign and domestic policy based on the constitution and severely reducing the size and scope of the federal government. He was the only candidate that pointed out our foreign policy was what motivated foreigners to want to attack us. Regardless of what you believe about 9/11, I think most people can agree that a country’s foreign policy tends to dictate how people in other nations interact with us. It’s amazing how well we get along with China now.
Bullying people doesn’t work well, neither does bullying groups of people from other nations. I think Ron Paul was trying to inject some basic common sense into the debate and a lot of people connected with that. I know I did. I hope they have a wonderful time at the convention. Ron Paul is trying to get Americans to think like Americans again. Hard to believe he is a politician. Wish we had a whole lot more like him.
GO RON PAUL!

In an ideal world Ron Paul might make a great president, but we have to live in the REAL WORLD, where ALL POLITICIANS have to take the mark of the beast, (figuratively speaking).
In order to sit in the white house you have to lie, cheat steal, murder innocent people and bow down to special interest groups that rule this world.
When we are in Christ the devil flees, as we have power over the devil when the Lord is manifesting in our lives, but trying to cast out evil by dwelling in evil is like beezelbub trying to cast out beezelbub. It just won’t work, it is impossible.
The only way the US government could opperate honestly and ethically is if justice reigned and ALL the people who aided, abetted and orchestrated 9/11 and other criminal acts against the people were successfully tried for treason.
Yes, that is correct, anything less than treason would be a miscarraige of justice. GW, Cheny and on and on and on are guilty of murder on a mass scale, but so is the congress that backed him and the media that helped support them. Obama and Biden are both guilty as well and should be given the same punishment as anyone else that helps people commit treason.
I don’t see how Ron Paul can claim innocence for lying about what really happened on 9/11 and other US crimes, but other than that he’s probably a nice guy.

This is not a convention. It is a rock concert/rally.
If wishes were horses, Ron Paul supporters would ride.
Either you’ve had too much flouride to drink, been breathing too many chemtrails, had one too many years of government school indoctrination, or you’ve been playing too many video games. Or perhaps smoking too much hootch.
Anyway, time to come back down to earth and face reality.

“Paul officially suspended his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination in June. This is fraud. Ron Paul ran as a Republican and drew contributions to run as a Republican. Now to say he’s going to use the leftover money to promote libertarian candidates — but he refused to run as one himself, or run as any other candidate, even as a write in as a Republican –
This proves he was never serious about running, and just cheated people of their money and their hopes, and also destroyed any chance of a bona fide third party run by anybody else.

Brad,
The truth is painful but the sooner we accept it the sooner we can deal with it.

Dr. Paul ran as a republican because thats his party affiliation as a member of congress. he would have to give up his seat in congress if he wanted to run on another ticket, such as libertarian. That wouldnt be good because he needs to stay in office so there’s at least one decent member on the hill.

Sounds like Ron Paul is a very effective New World Order politician, he’s got a lot of people believing he is their savior.
As for me I don’t worship any of them, as they’ve all taken the mark and they’ve all been bought off.
Maybe Ron Paul is the most honest of them all, but how can anyone honestly say that he hasn’t sold out like all the rest.
I don’t have anything personally against Ron Paul, but everytime you put your alegiance behind any man you’ll always get let down.
Heck it’s getting so bad I don’t even trust myself, but I do trust in the Lord and that’s why I’m so confident with that decision http://iwilltryit.com

@Steve Vincent
Keep trusting in no one but the Lord Steve, and maybe you’ll be better off when you die, but you’ll still be fucked your whole life on earth.
