Rutgers Professor Warns Geoengineering Could “Create Disasters,” Global Famine
National Academy of Sciences debates spraying aerosols into upper stratosphere to combat global warming

Debate surrounding the possibility of geoengineering the earth’s climate by lining the atmosphere with aerosol particles has moved from idle speculation to serious consideration, and was a core topic of discussion at a recent National Academy of Sciences workshop.
However, a top Rutgers University professor warned at the meeting that tampering with the planet’s delicate ecosystem could create famines and droughts, threatening the lives of no less than a third of the world’s population.
The plan to shoot aerosols – dust particles – into the earth’s upper stratosphere in an attempt to cool the planet and offset the purported effects of global warming, should be considered as an “emergency response” to a climate crisis, according to Harvard University’s Dan Schrag, who told the workshop that such a crisis was already underway.
“I think we should consider climate engineering only as an emergency response to a climate crisis, but I question whether we’re already experiencing a climate crisis — whether we’ve already crossed that threshold,” Schrag said.
According to an NPR report on the meeting, University of Calgary’s David Keith urged the introduction of geoengineering experiments on a global scale and that they should be conducted “sooner rather than later”.
But Rutgers University professor Alan Robock warned that such experiments “could create disasters,” damaging the ozone layer and potentially altering the stratosphere by eliminating weather patterns such as the annual Asian monsoon rain season, which 2 billion people rely upon to water their crops and feed the population.
“Imagine if we triggered a drought and famine while trying to cool the planet,” Robock said.
As we have previously highlighted, discussions regarding the possibility of “geo-engineering” the earth’s climate to counter global warming by “shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays” has stoked fresh concerns that similar programs are already underway, and that chemtrails are directly connected to such experimentation.

Chemtrails differ from ordinary contrails in that they hang in the sky for hours and are often observed to be emitted from planes that fly criss-cross routes, leading to the formation of ‘X’ and grid-like patterns in the sky. Chemtrails also directly effect localized weather by turning a clear blue sky into a hazy overcast.
Last year, a KSLA news investigation found that a substance that fell to earth from a high altitude chemtrail contained high levels of Barium (6.8 ppm) and Lead (8.2 ppm) as well as trace amounts of other chemicals including arsenic, chromium, cadmium, selenium and silver. Of these, all but one are metals, some are toxic while several are rarely or never found in nature. The newscast focuses on Barium, which its research shows is a “hallmark of chemtrails.” KSLA found Barium levels in its samples at 6.8 ppm or “more than six times the toxic level set by the EPA.”
KSLA also asked Mark Ryan, Director of the Poison Control Center, about the effects of Barium on the human body. Ryan commented that “short term exposure can lead to anything from stomach to chest pains and that long term exposure causes blood pressure problems.” The Poison Control Center further reported that long-term exposure, as with any harmful substance, would contribute to weakening the immune system, which many speculate is the purpose of such man-made chemical trails.
As we covered in a previous in-depth report, numerous universities and government agencies have been conducting studies in the field of geoengineering for years.
In addition, the Obama administration’s interest in exploring “geo-engineering” mirrors recent publications penned by the elite Council On Foreign Relations.
In a document entitled Geoengineering: Workshop on Unilateral Planetary Scale Geoengineering, the CFR proposes different methods of “reflecting sunlight back into space,” which include adding “small reflecting particles in the upper part of the atmosphere,” adding “more clouds in the lower part of the atmosphere,” and placing “various kinds of reflecting objects in space either near the earth or at a stable location between the earth and the sun.”
The proposals in the CFR document match exactly the atmospheric effects observed in the aftermath of chemtrail spraying.

I don’t believe those aircraft are the culprits, but they do make for interesting stories. That news story just talked to someone who pulled something off his lawn and pointed to the sky. Well if something like that web like material was dropped at that altitude, it wouldn’t drop straight down onto his lawn as air currents are different at different altitudes. There isn’t one bit of evidence that those lines by airliners are the actual spraying.
THAT SAID!!!!!!! They do weather modification. It is written and documented. The university isn’t writing fiction. In Russia they deliver cloud seeding and cloud dispersing materials through pyrotechnics, kind of like rockets. They also spray with planes. I heard they will spray to prevent hail damage to urban centers. They will also spray to create rainfall over the dense forested areas in Siberia to prevent wild fires. Germany was caught spraying. Military spraying applications like DDT took place. No one doubts that spraying is done.
As for the many lines in the skies…. I would say they’re traffic, but I some videos do indeed look strange. I live near 3 airports South of Moscow… I have aircaft flying overhead all day about 1 every 5 to 10 minutes… The sky is always crystal clear. I have seen 2 to 3 lines that stayed in the sky. The rest were trailing… Climate differences? Maybe. The proof is in the facts. Videos just show the lines are there, but that is all. I can show videos of clear skies though. Probably be Nostalgic for those who believe and wish that there was no such thing as Chemtrails. )))))))))

You are an IDIOOOTTTTTTTTTT! I have lived within spitting distance of major and military airports all my freaking life and I NEVER saw the crap I see in the sky almost every F***ing day now. Contrails do not turn fresh wash a sickly orange color, nor do they herald asthma attacks. Please go stick your head back up your ass, at least the air there is cleaner.

I’m not 100% convinced that chemtrails exist but then again I’m 100% convinced the gov is capable of seeding our atmospher with toxic chemicals. The one thing most most people fail to mention is the OAT (Outside Air Temp) at the altitudes commercial airliners fly at (20,000-30,000 feet) is -50F or colder. At these frigig temperatures, of course hot exhaust from a jet engine is going to leave a contrail. Dont belive me, look at an old WWII photo of our (USAAF) bombers over Europe and you’ll see the exact same contrails (created when the hot exhaust gas hits the frigid air at these high altitudes). Now you cant tell me we were dumping chem trails over Europe in WWII can you???

go on YouTube and check out local news sources investigating them. I’ve seen a few that actually checked them out, via chemical analysis, and even calling up the Pentagon and discovering they admitted doing them in the earlier decades, as well as retaining the right to do it now. And yes, they are real. I’ve seen them before when I lived on an airport for 4 years.

Yes, but people are linking everything together to support this particular story about chemtrails. A test positive for Barium found on the ground doesn’t mean anything because you can’t prove where it came from. How did it get there? That’s a good question. Are the airliners above spraying? They leave those lines behind… Well, show hardcore proof, not just the video of them flying leaving lines. That is only proving there is a line left across the sky. Do they spray, YES THEY DO!!!! Do they modify weather? YES! Do they put chemicals into the environment! YESSS!!! It is documented. What all this lacks is the connections between them.

The ceiling height of a B-17 flying fortess is 36.400 feet and there are endless archived videos of aviation. There existed contrails across the sky throughout history. I couldn’t find heat ranges for the jet vs piston engines, but the modern aircraft are running at higher altitudes and faster speeds. The only thing different now is the numbers of these contrails lacing through the skies. Until someone has evidence of airliners to bomb society with chemicals or Military aircraft which would have to get international clearance in many cases. This implicates so many people it is unbelievable!!! There would be hardcore leaks!!! Either every politician knows in every country as they let a global conspiracy unfold that poisons everyone including the politicians themselves via military aircraft. Or everyone at every airport is guilty and has an idea they are loading fuel laced with chemicals or they see nozzles and keep their mouth shut.
The chemicals are being sprayed and everything. I already posted that. I think people need to see what spraying and cloud seeding looks like in reality. It is a shame there isn’t more. I just out of curiosity searched cloud seeding on youtube, found one.

Minus 50F at that altitude? What planet are you talking about? Besides, contrails disperse within minutes. How do you account for broken trails? Are the pilots playing games and turning their engines off and on? So you are telling me the atmosphere is constant, even, and non changing. All temperatures are the same? If you compare me to someone who doesn’t know the difference between contrails and the acrobatic smoke used in airshows then he is silly. That doesn’t sound very educational to me. 11 Kilometers into the sky is the flight ceiling of a B-17. The troposphere is from 6 to 20 kilometers high. Higher at the equator due to earth’s spin. At its upper ranges themperatures drop to Minus 60 degrees Fahreinheit.

You saw it!!! I want to see!!! Show me! So far I see all photos with just vapor coming out of the engines from the heat, air pressure, and water vapor mixed with the cold air. Like those in the photo of the article. I would love to see a photo with spray nozzles on an armada of 737’s… How do they get international clearance? As I see these lines cross international boundaries. The Free Skies treaty has a quota of flights allowed so it must be something else. There cetainly has to be an international scandal. I hope WikiLeaks catches wind of this. They certianly will in time with this many people involved.

They didn’t stay in the sky all afternoon and turn into bloody great clouds, contrails follow aircraft and dissipate behind them, contrails do not spread out over the entire skyline over many hours, for a contrail to do that it would have to break the laws of physics, I presume you where born in the late 80s or early nineties and know no better.

I don’t know what chemtrails are, but there’s certainly a lot of them out here in Los Angeles. (I asked some kids once, “What are those lines in the sky?” They looked up and said “Sky writers?” Interesting how the actual sky writers lines don’t stay in the sky nearly as long as the chemtrails. By the time a pilot finishes writing “Mary me Kate” the first letters have already faded away. If chemtrails are harmless, why don’t the sky writers use the same stuff? Their words would stay in the sky for hours.)
What do commercial pilots think about chemtrails? They must notice them up there when they’re flying across the country.

You are spot on, Dave. I live in Hollywood and several times a week chemtrails are spreading across the sky. I personally don’t feel any effects from them, but down at a cellular level, we could all be seriously affected. Do you notice any effects on yourself, Dave?

Skywriters is a rediculous answer and it shows the decay of the educational system. The chlorofluorocarbons that are in all synthetic materials like your rug, couch, and curtains is always releasing into the air and it is a carcinogen. So better get outside if you feel like you are being poisoned. Scientific fact the outside air is cleaner than that in your home. I am sure cities under smog conditions are a bad deal, but over all you are breathing harsher air inside.

Artyom, are the newer materials that are being manufactured now better or even worse? I have very very old furniture in my apt and no rugs, just bare wood floors. I keep windows and door open most times. Am I doing ok?

It really depends! Just remember old materials like lead paint and asbestos. Health codes changed that. The other materials were natural. Linens, Wools, and Cottons made up most of the fabricates used in clothes, furniture, drapes, and other things around the house. That and leather. Even hemp was used as written on this site. You are doing fine if you are opening up the windows and letting your house breath! That is recommended for everyone. In winter the air in a home is terrible because it is locked up and dry. Some people lock up their homes in summer not to waste money on central air. I have a synthetic rug in my room, I guess it is like saying Charcoal Barbecue gives off carcinogen too, but it is minute. My windows are open though whenever weather permits. It all adds up, otherwise, and over time it can be problem. You shouldn’t worry at all Jean, you are doing fine. Keep vigilant on GMO’s that is the biggest threat to America. I am reading not to buy any American food, that’s how bad it is. Study weight gain(food industry), weight loss industry, and the billions they make off each other. Even the glamour promotes weightloss. They keep people insecure as they fatten them and show them how they should be and the people keep their wallets open. It is just my theory as I don’t have hard documented proof, but the relations between are seriously linked. Big industry loves GMO’s because it is cutting production and supply costs dramatically leading to maximum profits. They are losing markets though to those who hate GMO’s! Heinz Ketchup, Snickers, Helmann’s mayonnaise… Soya!!! Just about everything is on the list. Go to greenpeace to be informed about what products contain GMO’s. that is http://www.greenpeace.org Then search GM foods. Also remember, I don’t deny the government sprays… Weather modification has been studied, I believe, since the late 1950’s. Read about the American civil war! They noticed that after every battle, from all the gun smoke, that it rained. It may have been a coincidence, but mans mind on affecting weather was existant back then. Take care.

I don’t know if I should be writing articles, I don’t have a degree in journalism. As for GMO foods, it is a nasty thing. They either try to control the reproduction of plants to make farmers buy seeds every season or they do things to make the process more cost effective. They like to make it pesticide resistant, hence allowing more pesticides to be sprayed. So your food will have more poisons in it, plus the DNA architecture will be altered. Long term health effects have never been studied. Europe and Asia hates them and are trying everything to fight big agriculture products. USA, I think, is only just becoming aware of them. To answer where I live, in Russia just a few minutes outside of Moscow. People here really love to grow their own food in the summer homes and villages. They also know what they can pick and eat in nature. Like picking mushrooms is really an art considering if you eat the wrong one you can be really sick.
I think what really hurts our health here is almost everyone smokes. I am sure Philip Morris has a love affair with us. I read some of our University studies here about weather modification and among other things they do with the atmosphere. They usually use pyrotechnics or airplanes. Just like a firework rocket, they launch them with the right mixture for what they want to achieve. During Vietnam, they sprayed Agent Orange all over the country. They loaded up cargo planes and flew wing tip to wing tip. There are videos of some of the missions and also them spraying people with hoses with DDT or Agent Orange, can’t remember which, obvious propaganda to show it is harmless. Guess who makes these lovely chemicals that have already gave tons of birth defects and led to cancerous deaths that were horrible? MONSANTO!!! One of the leading GM Food producers!!! Even though I am a staunch proponent of exposing chemtrails and aerosol operations, I do recognize the error in the KSLA report.
It is indeed, 68.8 ug/L, not PPM.
The report does not show a high level of barium.
Please watch ‘CHEMA-KILL’ and feel free learn about other evidence of chemtrails however.

I am reading the data and all tests come at the ground level. Have you read about Acid rain? How does it come about? Industries release a lot of pollutants into the air and are present when the rain is formed and as it travels through the atmosphere it can collect trace particles. These particles are usually all below the saftey levels by health administrations for usage. You’ll hear people using rain water for aquariums because it is softer water than the tap. I am sure if you check your local river, you’ll find such horrifying chemicals in there it would scare you very much. To trace it to atmospheric spraying, it still doesn’t hold anything but hearsay. Understand what I am getting at? I don’t questions that they don’t spray and do these things. However, I wouldn’t even open a criminal case against the government on any of this evidence. I read they are mentioning aluminum. That is one of the most common metals used in our industries now. Cars, vent ducts, soda cans, soup and meat cans, etc… They’re all aluminum. You have a greater chance of suffering the adverse side effects from these soup, meat, and soda cans than from the minute traces in the air. The theory of using Fluoride to dumb the population holds more weight in my opinion because if I were to plan a way to poison all people and even keep myself clean of the poisons, I would go for public water supply. It guarantees almost complete delivery of the poison. It can be delivered with minimum dispersion and it is controllable. It would take a whole lot less money too. Also, all water treatment plants are under government control. The government is there to protect it since there is a history of using water supply as a weapon to end seiges and so on. It comes down to the question if you trust your government to protect your water. They all use Chlorine and a lot are now using chloramine which can’t be aerated out of the water or removed by traditional means, like standing for a day or anti chlorine drops. These changes were made because it is more stable disinfectant. I don’t like it though.

It’s clear to me that the bush regime and oil companies started this into full gear to mitigate the global warming effects and keep selling oil as they run the price up to $150.
In addition though, I know that the DoD have been running some “experiments” on us as well. The governments done it before and it’s criminal in the extreme.

They are not contrails at all, this is obvious to anyone who grew up with an interest in the world around them.
They do chem trailing when the wind is going a certain direction, and their also seems to be many more aircraft flying around than usual, until the whole sky is filled with the tell tail overlaps and criss crosses.
This is in the southern hemisphere.
And yet the populous will go out on a day when the sky is filled with the stuff and not even notice, I just don’t understand, it must be a blind spot in their vision.
