School Children Complain Of “Obama Worship” During Lessons

Several disturbing stories have come to our attention over the past weeks and days that further highlight how sections of the American population have elevated Barack Obama to a dangerously inflated “messianic” status normally only associated with Royalty or totalitarian leaders.
What makes the following accounts so much more insidious, however, is that they all involve children.
Perhaps the most insidious is to be found on the Tree of Liberty forum where a concerned parent from Las Vegas reveals that his 1st grader son has complained of having to pledge allegiance every day at school to a huge projected image of the new president.
The post reads:
My son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn’t want to go back to school anymore. So I asked him why? He said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag. I asked him if he was sure of this and I suggested to him that maybe the teacher just put up an 8×10 photo of the president. He said, “No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done Ms. **** turns off the image.” I also asked if they did this for Bush last year? He again said, “No.” This was my sons first day back to school since before Christmas, he was on a 5 week track break.
My wife volunteers a couple of days each week with helping out with my sons teacher doing various duties. She said that she would come in early this morning to see what was going on. She just got back and reported that this was true and then some. She said she waited out in the pod area and could see inside 3 of the 5 class rooms in this section of school. She said that when the kids stand each teacher flips on the classroom overhead and a full body image of Obama, with six U.S. flags behind him, comes up about 4 feet away from the flag that hangs on the wall. She said that the image has Obama staring straight at you with no facial expressions, just a serious look. I asked my wife if Obama had his hand over his heart? She said that she was so taken aback by this that she didn’t see it. What is worse is she said that all of the kids in each class faced Obama instead of the flag that hangs in the corner.
What the heck is going on?
Guys and gals, I need some advise on how to approach this. I can be somewhat hot headed so I need to plan accordingly with what to say to the principal when we go in to inquire about this. I am sure I will be brushed off so what is my next step? Obviously it will be the school district but then who? ACLU, Veteran groups, Christian groups? Who would be interested in this vile activity?
This is happening in the Clark County School District here in Las Vegas, Henderson area.

Anyone in their right mind will realize that Americans are not supposed to “pledge allegiance” or “service” to a president. The U.S. Constitution, that piece of paper that Obama clumsily swore to defend and protect, states quite clearly that elected representatives are supposed to act in “service” of the people’s best interests, not the other way around.
Imagine the outcry that would have ensued if it had been revealed that huge images of George W Bush were being projected onto the walls of schools every day during his presidency.
Indeed, a similar incident in 2006 did cause waves of consternation when video emerged of children at a so called “Jesus Camp” being asked to worship a life size cutout of Bush.
Seemingly, now that Obama is president this activity is not restricted to “wacky” religious gatherings and is becoming commonplace throughout schools in America.
Another concerned parent relates a similar story on our own PrisonPlanet forum:
I live in Toledo, Ohio & my 3 kids (16, 13 &10) had to watch the inauguration & ceremony in our Toledo Public Schools. My 13 year old daughter is supposed to write a letter to President Obama & my 10 year old is supposed to write 5 facts & 5 opinions on President Obama. what do i tell them so i dont get CSB called on me?
Given that he has been described as the “global leader”, it is quite apt that Obama worship is apparently not restricted to U.S. schools. Two weeks ago the Toronto Star reported on how Rowntree Public School now has its own “Obama curriculum” complete with a theme song that “blasts” out the following lyrics from speakers in the school every day:
“Building blocks of a new vow/ A million stops and a new route …”
Children are asked to complete “Obama video worksheets” while learning all about the president’s life, but apparently not what his policies are or even what party he represents.
As part of the curriculum the students were asked to write a letter to the president, which is also featured in the article (see opposite).
The final paragraph states “You are the best because you are the first African American president in the United States of America!” and the children end by promising that they will “always remember your slogan, ‘Yes we can!’”.
The “Obama curriculum” is clearly not an isolated phenomenon. We have also recently reported on how one teacher has suggested removing from school curriculums all classic novels that explore racial prejudice in society, purely because Obama is now president.
When added to the footage of glassy eyed children singing beautiful melodic songs about Obama (see below) and the now infamous footage of the Obama youth brigade children blindly reciting what their elders have told them to, these stories add up to a disturbing overall trend.
The youth brigades of Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union are obviously an extreme form of this kind of blind indoctrination, however they were more like scout organizations, their doctrines were never openly instituted in schools!
Perhaps even more disturbing is that there is no significant authoritative pressure pushing this kind of activity in schools. Clearly the teachers instigating the activities in the incidents related above are doing so of their own will, the phenomenon is a cultural one.
The fervor with which Obama is being received by portions of the American public is reaching a frightening level. It has come to the point where the new president is literally being hailed as the anointed savior of humanity.
We have flocks of celebrities encouraging Americans to “pledge service” to Obama, a disturbing notion given the fact that Obama has promised to found a “national civilian security force” and institute forms of compulsory community service for all Americans.
It is one thing for naive adults to buy into such groupthink, but to also subject young children to this, a mentality akin to the desperate prole worship of Big Brother in George Orwell’s 1984, is profoundly foreboding for any so called free society.

Remember the documentary called Jesus Camp? There was a scene that showed the kids praying to a cardboard replica of the war criminal Bush. Most were outraged.
There is not much difference in that and these reports about Obama being glorified and presented as larger than life to these young, impressionable minds.

Asil, yes Bush is a war criminal by the same definition and reasoning as Hitler was. You are aware, aren’t you that Saddam was installed by our own government (USA) back in the 1950’s. Therefore, it follows that to have installed Saddam, even though he was an S.O.B, he was OUR S.O.B, as the saying goes, to have installed him and then when Saddam no longer thought it convenient to abide by the rules, to go in and DESTROY a nation based on lies to get rid of a “problem child” THAT IS A WAR CRIME. Ever stop to think about whether or not they’ve ever even lived in Israel, or expressed any loyalties to Israel publically at all?

If the gentleman would humor Saul D. Alinsky’s “Rules for a Radical”, then he might understand that you cannot offend your audience in order to make a respectable point. Merely pointing out that a person is Jewish should not be indicative of that person’s racial experiences or feelings towards the religion as a whole. The problem of this “taxonomy” problem is from the confusion of the use of the word, Jewish. The word can mean both religious group and ethnic group. There are Jews who believes something else than Jewish religion. That is why some people in Vatican studying Catholicism are categorized as Jews.
I guess this makes (ethnically) Jewish people with no connection to the conspiracies to feel harassed.
From my understanding of Jewish culture and anthropology, I think each ethnic group has weak points for justification and they become sensitive about them when they are addressed by outsiders. I think “conspiracy” issue is one of the weak points for ordinary ethnically-Jewish people.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with writing a letter to the President or with having his picture displayed during the Pledge of Allegiance. He is, after all, the President. We were taught about the various presidents when we were kids back in the 50’s and 60’s. Yes, this is our first half-white, half-black president and it is historical.
No getting around that, especially when the powers that be are wanting everyone to focus on race instead of on what’s really happening, subtle and not so subtle.
As a Jew, I was forced to learn Christmas carols in public school and to participate in the Christmas play there. My mom taught us that we are simply a minority and to just be quiet and know in our hearts that we were Jews and did not believe in Christianity. I guess that’s why I am able to let the world swirl around me and not get all upset if someone has a different opinion than mine.
You can just teach your children your truth, your opinion at home, as our parents did and as parents do in communist and other totalitarian lands where no bucking of the system is allowed. Ever hear the term “Marrano”? These were Jews in Spain who were outwardly Catholic but secretly practiced Judaism as best they could under the repressive circumstances in which they lived.
I realize that there is this same severe pressure on kids in public schools today to express a certain view, to not deviate from the PC view the teacher and curriculum are putting forth. I also know that Children’s Services can be brought in with nothing more than a phone call – no evidence has to be presented in order to remove kids from their parents. Yeah, kids can be gotten back after much anguish and expense of time, money, and emotion, and no one should have to go through that if they are not actually maltreating their kids. Sort of like being denounced to the Holy See during the Inquisition. According to Jack Chick, the Inquisition is alive and well. I don’t know but wouldn’t be surprised by anything after being made aware by people like Chick and Alex Jones (who some say is a Jesuit in disguise!! What next??!!?).
BTW, some of the other Jewish kids in my grade school rebelled in 6th grade and refused
to be in the Christmas play, refused to sing the carols, and insisted on Chanukah songs being taught to the whole class. So not everyone was quiet about it like my Mom was.
My main point, I guess, is that it isn’t necessary to always freak out when our kids are taught something that we personally don’t believe in. Also, remember that kids are their own persons. They should, IMHO, be taught varying points of view and allowed to make up their own minds. Except about Jesus and the need for salvation through Him. All the other issues – Obama, who is, like it or not, the President and who, as such, deserves our respect for the office he holds and our prayers for him to be wise so we can live in peace, homosexuality, abortion, and so forth – are important but they are not as important as making sure our kids are saved.
After that, I’d place getting the basic education skills down – reading, English usage and comprehension, spelling, basic mathematics, computer skills, a little history, a little science, some geography, and that’s about it. We do not need kids to be in school anywhere near as long as they are now, they do not need all the fine arts and athletics, sex education and the many other topics they now are taught, along with all the other teachings that go to socialize them into good little robots. Home or private schooling helps avoid most of that, if parents can afford it. If not, parents have to just do their best to counteract any teachings they do not want their kids having.
In these very tough economic times, parents ought to be letting the school boards know that they do not want kids going on all their field trips and having art classes, music classes, and any other non-essential classes. The measure of “essential” is whether or not it will help kids get employment, IMHO. Since our economy is being crashed and feudalism and serfdom are being revived, we need to disabuse ourselves of the belief that taxpayers have to fund Renaissance educations for every kid. We don’t want our kids to be brutes but there are just some topics that are not essential to getting jobs or becoming entrepeneurs. If parents want sports and fine arts for their kids, they can pay for it privately. If parents can’t afford this privately, they can seek out a benefactor who will donate it to their kids. But when people are losing their houses, their jobs, their health insurance, it is time to scale back the cost of public education (read: public socialization, according to Justice Croskey in California).

Putting a picture of Obama up and having the kids face the picture of Obama while taking the pledge instead of the flag is different than learning about the President as a kid in school.
It is psychological manipulation. You don’t think that by repitition people will associate the person with the pledge, instead of associating the flag and the nation with the pledge? It has been the agenda of those who develop the curriculum for a long time to reduce and eventually eliminate all nationalism and here we have something that will fill the void: loyalty to a person – regardless of the fact that they are just as falible and full of deceit as any other politician in recent history.

Seems to me the Bible says that God is no respecter of persons, we are all equal in His eyes. As for the Jews being God’s chosen people, that may be true in the sense that the Messiah came to Earth via their bloodline; however, the Bible also says that circumcision is in the heart and not in the foreskin. There is also a question as to whether the so-called traditional Jews of today are even descendants of the tribe of Judah, but merely usurpers of the religion. That may be why Christ in the book of Revelation refers to them as false Jews and of the synagogue of Satan. I believe that God’s chosen people are those that worship Him with all their mind, soul and spirit, and trust in Jesus (Yeshua) as their Lord and Saviour.

I have a tale to tell. When my daughter was in third grade at a public school, she was a member of the choir. I attended a performance where they sang a song about fast food restaurants! The lyrics were something like, ” A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, McDonald’s” et cetera. I was horrified. Everyone else thought it was cute. I don’t know who wrote it, but the choir director certainly chose it. After the performance I received a questionnaire concerning whether it would be politically correct to perform Christmas songs. I responded that Christmas songs were fine with me as they are more about tradition than religion, but that I was very alarmed at beginning a trend of incorporating corporate advertising into school performances. This tale illustrates the systemic brainwashing of teachers be it Obama or anything else.

In my children’s school, here in BC, Canada, they stopped all the classes to show the Innauguration to all the kids and teachers. I said to my wife that I found that disturbing since it is not from our own country. I asked her what was the direction’s motivation for doing this. She said it was because Obama was balck and this was part of history. I said that was fair enough. But then I asked her if they showed the Innauguration of Michael Jean, the first Black women Canadian General Governer… she said no they did not show that.

The schools showing the Inauguration didn’t disturb me that much because it IS a turning point in history (if the sheeple of this country only knew in what direction we’ll be going.) The singing youth groups and uncanny resemblances of behavior that were before exhibited to the late German fuhrer made me shutter. There has to be some solution to this political brainwashing of our youth…

The behaviors in the two videos do resemble each other, but they aren’t the same thing. The children were in a private home with their parents making a video to endorse their chosen candidate. Personally, I don’t think their heads were screwed on right, but it wasn’t a government run indoctrination.

Speed cameras record streaming video 24/7
Surprised state lawmakers learned Thursday that the photo enforcement cameras they authorized last year to catch speeders are actually taking – and keeping – videos of everyone who passes.
The information came out as a House panel debated legislation to outlaw the operation of fixed and mobile cameras on state roads. Backers of the legislation complained that the cameras are really designed to generate revenue and not to improve public safety.
But they learned that the cameras do more than snap still photos of those clocked driving at least 11 miles over the speed limit. In fact, they actually are recording streaming video around-the-clock.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert, said what’s worse is that Redflex Traffic Systems, the private company hired by the state to set up and operate the cameras, advertises that it has technology that actually can scan in the license plates of every vehicle that passes the cameras. And that, Biggs said, allows creation of a database that can find out where people have been at any given time.
Biggs said there is no expectation of privacy on public roads.
“But this is more invasive than ever experienced,” he said.
Foes of photo enforcement weren’t the only ones who appeared troubled by the revelation.
Rep. Eric Meyer, D-Paradise Valley, voted to keep the system alive, saying he believes it saves lives. But Meyer said lawmakers need to address the issue of whose photos are taken and kept by the government.
“That absolutely concerns me,” he said.
Rep. Sam Crump, R-Anthem, said he crafted HB2106 because last year’s legislation authorizing the Arizona Department of Public Safety to set up the cameras never got a full debate. Instead, it was tucked into the state budget, a move he said was designed more to raise money to pay for various programs than to actually benefit public safety.
DPS Cmdr. Thomas Woodward said the evidence shows that when the cameras went up, both the number and severity of accidents went down.
Crump said he doesn’t believe that to be the case.
But the discussion quickly turned after Woodward revealed that Redflex had actual around-the-clock videos from each of the fixed and mobile cameras. Biggs said that little bit of information has been kept from both lawmakers and the public.
“At the bare minimum, everybody should be made privy to the fact that if you’re driving on everybody’s highways we’re taping you, 24/7, and we’re going to hold it for 90 days,” he said.
DPS Lt. James Warriner said there’s a legitimate reason for doing the recording and keeping the tapes. He said they have proven useful in finding hit-and-run drivers and even in identifying someone who stole a motorcycle.
Warriner said the videos are for law enforcement use only and not a public record.
Biggs, however, said that doesn’t mean others won’t be able to access those tapes.
He said that information might prove useful to attorneys or private investigators in civil or divorce cases who might seek to prove to a court that someone was not where he or she was supposed to be.
Warriner conceded the videos could, in fact, be used that way if a lawyer could get a subpoena.
“If a judge signs off on that and orders us to release it, we’re going to have to release it,” he said. But Warriner said such a court order would have to be issued within 90 days of the event or there would be nothing for his agency to produce.
Warriner said, though, his agency is willing to stop the around-the-clock taping if that is what lawmakers want.

You have to understand the African American culture and deep rooted feelings to understand why people are so hopeful of Obama, why they are so happy he is the President, and why many will have pictures of him next to Kennedy and Martin in their homes. These are not stupid people, to all of you who put all Obama supporters in one category. I don’t think White people are supporting Obama because of some kind of White guilt either. Obama has skills like him or hate him.
I believe that things have gotten so bad in this nation, and regardless of the real agenda of Obama’s Administration, people wanted to believe in “change” and “Hope.” Something we all need more of, rather than gloom and doom day in and day out.
We know many of Obama’s policies stink – but we need to formulate an intelligent approach to getting the message to the people without divisive strategies.

As for “we need hope, not gloom and doom” — we need truth, and if that’s gloomy, then face it and work to fix it. Denying it won’t help. Speed cameras record streaming video 24/7
Surprised state lawmakers learned Thursday that the photo enforcement cameras they authorized last year to catch speeders are actually taking – and keeping – videos of everyone who passes.
The information came out as a House panel debated legislation to outlaw the operation of fixed and mobile cameras on state roads. Backers of the legislation complained that the cameras are really designed to generate revenue and not to improve public safety.
But they learned that the cameras do more than snap still photos of those clocked driving at least 11 miles over the speed limit. In fact, they actually are recording streaming video around-the-clock.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert, said what’s worse is that Redflex Traffic Systems, the private company hired by the state to set up and operate the cameras, advertises that it has technology that actually can scan in the license plates of every vehicle that passes the cameras. And that, Biggs said, allows creation of a database that can find out where people have been at any given time.
Biggs said there is no expectation of privacy on public roads.
“But this is more invasive than ever experienced,” he said.
Foes of photo enforcement weren’t the only ones who appeared troubled by the revelation.
Rep. Eric Meyer, D-Paradise Valley, voted to keep the system alive, saying he believes it saves lives. But Meyer said lawmakers need to address the issue of whose photos are taken and kept by the government.
“That absolutely concerns me,” he said.
Rep. Sam Crump, R-Anthem, said he crafted HB2106 because last year’s legislation authorizing the Arizona Department of Public Safety to set up the cameras never got a full debate. Instead, it was tucked into the state budget, a move he said was designed more to raise money to pay for various programs than to actually benefit public safety.
DPS Cmdr. Thomas Woodward said the evidence shows that when the cameras went up, both the number and severity of accidents went down.
Crump said he doesn’t believe that to be the case.
But the discussion quickly turned after Woodward revealed that Redflex had actual around-the-clock videos from each of the fixed and mobile cameras. Biggs said that little bit of information has been kept from both lawmakers and the public.
“At the bare minimum, everybody should be made privy to the fact that if you’re driving on everybody’s highways we’re taping you, 24/7, and we’re going to hold it for 90 days,” he said.
DPS Lt. James Warriner said there’s a legitimate reason for doing the recording and keeping the tapes. He said they have proven useful in finding hit-and-run drivers and even in identifying someone who stole a motorcycle.
Warriner said the videos are for law enforcement use only and not a public record.
Biggs, however, said that doesn’t mean others won’t be able to access those tapes.
He said that information might prove useful to attorneys or private investigators in civil or divorce cases who might seek to prove to a court that someone was not where he or she was supposed to be.
Warriner conceded the videos could, in fact, be used that way if a lawyer could get a subpoena.
“If a judge signs off on that and orders us to release it, we’re going to have to release it,” he said. But Warriner said such a court order would have to be issued within 90 days of the event or there would be nothing for his agency to produce.
Warriner said, though, his agency is willing to stop the around-the-clock taping if that is what lawmakers want.

Public schools always are doing some dumb thing. I wouldn’t get your panties all in a bunch by singling this ONE thing out… My kids were PUNISHED in school by being told they had to write some BIBLE VERSE a hundred times… I raised hell, it stopped.
Personally, I’d make a big deal out of the “why didn’t they do this while Bush was in office?” question. The principal MAY not even have been aware of all this to begin with. The school board needs to be informed. People can turn this into such a controversy by attending board meetings and going to the media that it will probably end.

I watched a documentary about North Korea. It was about the people and how the dictatorship works and how Kym whatever his name was, enforces his rules and oppresion.
I was absolutly astonished to see how people would cry and scream in joy as they worshiped a picture of this guy. It blew me away to be honest. Scares me to think i may see it for myself in real life.

My daughter’s elementary school forced them t watch the innaugeration as well, along with writing answers to facts about Obama. My daughter made a 95, but she tried to tell the teacher she didn’t even want the grade. The teacher sweetly said, “Well, I can give you an F.” So my daughter just ripped up her paper and threw it in the trash later. She is in the 4th grade. This is in TN. I keep her well informed about what the government is doing and how they will use tactics like this to brainwash her into thinking in ways that are not right Constitutionally.
This whole thing is so disgusting. If I see or here anything more about Obama worship going on, I’m pulling her out. My only choice would be to move to a different state to a small town and break up the family.

I am a substitute Teacher covering for a teacher who left an Obama assignment. The kids are writing letters to Obama about the problems they’re facing as teens but 100% of the letters are filled with a disturbing amount of adoration. I actually asked the kids to sut some of it out because it was a little too much. They were not completing the assignment at all.
On inauguration day I witness a teacher shouting down a student who simply stated “what if Obama doesn’t live up to expectations?”

Look dont be surprised that this is happening, its just history repeating itself. My mother grew up in Germany as a child. She saw the rise of a man that had a lustful thirst for power, greed, and world dominance. If you didnt follow along you were considered an enemy of the state and dealt with as such! As soon as Hitler was elected into the highest position he began to carry out his plan of world domination. No one stood in his way! If they did they were eradicated along with the entire members of that persons family. Fear was his greatest tool in coercing and changing the minds of free thinking men of that day. Even some of the highest ranking officers closest to the Feurer failed in their attempts to take Hitler out. (See the movie Valkyrie) Saddam killed members of his own family suspecting that his security had been breached after a near attempted assassination and failed coup. Should we be surprised that those in power would brainwash our youth to futher the plan and ensure assimilation and indoctrination of a new world order to the next generation. This happened in Cambodia during the Vietnam war. This happened in China during the communist revolution. It’s happening as I am typing this to children in countries that foster terrorist fundamentalistic thought, using religions and promises of martyrdom to bring swiftness to their planned objective. Parents need to take more of an active role in raising their children and teaching them the traditional values and morals that our fore fathers fought and died for.

This article is a perfect example of the diaspora–half interesting journalism, half tinfoil hat nuttery–that is Infowars. You had me with the report about students pledging to a giant photo of Obama. I, too, saw the scene in Jesus Camp where they pray to the giant photo of GWB, and this disturbs me even more so given the public and compulsory nature of the graven image worship. If true, these actions must be repudiated with no less than an overwhelming legal armada.
But then you go right on and lose me by making a big stink about some class assignment where the students have to write five facts and five opinions about President Obama. What the hell is the problem with that? We have a new president, and people are talking. Children are talking too, and children are even less competent than some of the readers of this website at discerning facts from opinions. The assignment seems to me like an potentially effective way to clear up misconceptions the children may have about exactly who our president is.
Here is my entry:
FACTS
1. Barack Hussein Obama is the first African American President of the United States.
2. (Though I know some Infowars readers will protest this) President Obama was born in Hawaii.
3. President Obama has admitted to smoking marijuana and snorting cocaine in his youth.
4. President Obama chose for his vice president a man who once called him “articulate and bright and clean.”
5. President Obama likes hamburgers.
OPINIONS
1. President Obama wants to take all your guns away
2. President Obama is a puppet for the Bilderberg Group who secretly run everything.
3. President Obama gets his magical powers from eating Somali babies.
4. President Obama’s stimulus plan will stabilize the economy.

I will tell you the problem I have with this. I have a 6 year old Autistic son who is in a Special Ed Program. Every week they are given a packet from News-2-You.com which is geared towards special needs children. I cannot find the most recent one but to paraphrase it said “Americans are scared. Americans are looking to President Obama to help them.” Another one I that do have (Obama was the subject two weeks in a row.) says “Obama will promise to work for America” To an adult this is rather benign, but to a Special Ed student who has trouble grasping concepts this is ridiculous! First this tells my son that Americans are scared (So he should be too) and then it assures him that Obama will take away these fears. This is how my son grasps this! Another one I just found says “People are worried about their homes, savings, jobs and America’s future.” and then “The President (Obama) must work on America’s problems andhelp America grow again.” My son should not have the weight of the world on his shoulders at this age and should not have to worry what will happen if Obama doesn’t fix things. When I get these things I have to spend time reassuring my son that these are things of Mommy and Daddy’s concerns and that WE are the ones looking out for his best interests and protecting him, not Obama! This takes away valuable time that could be spent on useful learning activities at home! I am also looking at another one of these that tells them to assk their doctor “if they need a flu shot”. So to paraphrase again, worship Obama and get your flu shot. My son can barely talk in sentences but the school sure makes sure the “love government” propaganda starts early! So now I have the responsibility to de-program my son everyday which I will to until he finishes school because I love him and want him to think for himself!

I’m sure as hell glad I don’t have any kids. But if I did, I’d do everything I could to not send them to public school. I’d find a nice Christian school or some other private school that didn’t do crazy shit like this. My 11 yr old neighbor said they had to eat lunch in their classroom while watching the inauguration. She asked if I saw it and I simply said “I had to work”…but she didn’t say anything else about it and I didn’t ask. Her Mom is a teacher and pretty liberal.

Even the private Christian schools and private schools are starting to take Federal money, as in grants for extra pay for teachers and school supplies.

I am just confused as to why the Bible was not used when He was sworn into office. This was something of a confusion to me. His supposed Christian antics must not be true. Public boarding schools where homeless children and those from troubled homes could find the safety and stability to learn are being pursued by Chicago Public Schools officials.
Under the plan, still in the nascent stages, the first pilot residential program could open as soon as fall 2009. District officials hope to launch as many as six such schools in the following years, including at least one that would operate as a year-round school.
The proposal puts Chicago at the forefront of urban school reform, as cities struggle to raise the academic achievement of students hampered by dysfunctional homes and other obstacles outside school.
Some districts, including Chicago, have looked for solutions from small schools to single-sex campuses. But residential schools are a bolder — and far more expensive — proposition. Long an option for the affluent, boarding schools are virtually unheard of for the disadvantaged.
Chicago Public Schools chief Arne Duncan said he does not want to be in the “parenting” business, but he worries that some homes and some neighborhoods are unsafe, making education an afterthought.
“Some children should not go home at night; some of them we need 24-7,” he told the Tribune. “We want to serve children who are really not getting enough structure at home. There’s a certain point where dad is in jail or has disappeared and mom is on crack … where there isn’t a stable grandmother, that child is being raised by the streets.”
Chicago school officials are still working through details of the plan, and it’s not clear whether the schools would be run by the district, outside agencies or some combination of the two.
It’s also not certain how the schools would be funded, who would shoulder the liability of keeping students overnight or how students would be selected.
In April, as part of its Renaissance 2010 new schools program, the district will put out a formal request for boarding school proposals. Officials have already met with interested groups in Chicago.
Officials have also visited several public and private boarding schools across the country and asked some to submit proposals.
Duncan said he has dreamed for years about opening boarding schools, but only last year, when he hired Josh Edelman, son of Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman, did the idea take off.
The younger Edelman served for four years as the principal of The SEED School, the nation’s oldest and most successful urban boarding school. Located in Washington, D.C., the public, college preparatory campus serves 300 students from 7th through 12th grades.
Nearly 72 percent of SEED students, who hail from low-income and sometimes troubled backgrounds, go on to four-year colleges.
Edelman said Chicago Public Schools officials are interested in several models, including SEED, in which students live and attend school in the same building. Other options would include an arrangement in which students live in one building and ride the bus to a nearby school or a large central dormitory in which students live in one building but attend several schools.
All of these settings could allow students to go home on weekends, or stay at the facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Officials said they would look at both options or a combination.
Edelman said his experience at The SEED School proved to him that family and community involvement are paramount to making a boarding school successful.
In Chicago, children would attend the school only after the parents or guardian choose the option. Schools would then work with parents to ensure that the students’ academic and social needs are being met.
“This is not about doing something to parents because parents are bad,” Edelman said. “This is about doing something in conjunction with parents and the community.”
Chicago flirted briefly with the idea of public school residential facilities in the mid-1990s, when a private group proposed transforming a 16-story unit at the Robert Taylor Homes into a dormitory for 800 students. The proposal died when the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development took over the CHA.
A few years later, then-schools chief Paul Vallas floated the idea of opening a boarding school for neglected and homeless children. Students would live at the school until the Department of Children and Family Services was able to place them in foster care or with relatives. The plan collapsed because of the high price tag.
Now the district is hoping to launch a pilot program in September 2009, operated by North Lawndale College Prep. The charter group, which runs two Chicago high schools, is working on a proposal to create an off-site dormitory, initially for about 15 to 20 of its homeless students.
The teenagers would live in the building 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Teen Living Program, which works with federal, state and city government to provide shelter and support for homeless teens, would run the residential units.
John Horan, director of expansion for the charter group, said officials are looking for a building that could house the students and are working through funding and liability issues that go along with operating a residential facility.
The charter group and Teen Living plan to present the proposal to their respective boards of directors in the summer. The proposal then would have to go before the Chicago Board of Education for final approval.
Horan said between 6 and 8 percent of North Lawndale’s 400 students are homeless, either because their parents are in prison or have disappeared. Some teachers have stepped in as parents, allowing students to bunk at their homes or, in some cases, taking temporary guardianship of the students.
“It’s not sustainable; you can’t really depend on your staff to do that,” Horan said. “Our notion now is if you are going to be serious about providing college prep for kids who are from [poor] communities you have to deal with the housing.”
But housing is an expensive proposition.
Illinois already has one residential school, the Illinois Math and Science Academy, a state-funded 10th through 12th-grade college prep high school that enrolls about 650 gifted students. The price tag: about $23,000 per student each year.
Providing the same services for low-income urban students who face more significant life problems is certain to be most costly. The SEED School is opening a second school in Baltimore. The cost per student: $34,000.
Chicago spends about $7,000 per pupil in operating costs.
“This is a big idea that has residual effect beyond the kids,” said Cheye Calvo, director of expansion for The SEED School. “In the long term, this is better for society because the economic impact of failure affects us all. But opening a boarding school requires political leadership to step forward and provide the resources.”

This is a serious matter but funny as well. For the record, I’m black, wasn’t sure if I was going to vote this past year because I was terrified of both candidates for different reasons. I did decide to vote for Obama, not because he is black, but because I “thought” he was a better candidate than McCain, it did make and change history and I do believe that symbolically on the surface, it was good for the black community. Don’t beat me up people. The NWO is going to happen no matter who is in office. Whether it’s the dems or the repubs. They just have different policies on making it happen.
Now, I seem to recall in grammar/elementary school of having to do a book report on George Washington and a couple of other presidents. I had to tell about their life, what they did for the country, yada, yada, yada. Was that wrong? I didn’t think so.

At least they should be given a choice to attend or participate in the song. Whats wrong with letting the kids watch an inuaguration…..It does not matter who the president is, it is a time to show the transition in so called leadership in the nation. But the life size photos in the classrooms is a little much unless you do that for every president.
I think people are in a daze, but I also think much of is coming from Racist not people that are truly upset due to the fact that they are leading and teaching the children group think….
I think the History of the event was wonderful but now it is time to get to business…….

Obama is not the Anti-Christ, he is not the Messiah, he is just a regular human being. People with issues are projecting their fears or their hopes and dreams on one person and frankly it is not healthy. I voted for him and thank My Heavenly Father that he is the President, but i am not down with the hero worship. The teachers are going about this the wrong way, and I am sure Obama would strongly discourage and condemn this type of behavior.

I believe that schools should present the facts only. I have incountered that this is extremely hard for teachers. They cannot keep their own views out of it! Kids are very impressionable and teachers at times can hold more water than parents. Teachers please keep the Obama praise to yourself!!!!!!!! I don’t agree with the road Obama is going down — I want to teach my children to be responsible for your actions and not to expect hand outs!!! We are heading toward Big Goverment — this is very bad!!!!!
