Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) — Senate Democrats won committee approval today of a “cap-and-trade” bill to reduce U.S. greenhouse gases over the objection of Republicans who say the legislation is being rushed.
Ten of the 12 Democrats on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee supported the measure. Senator Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat, voted against the bill. Senator Tom Carper, a Delaware Democrat who wasn’t present for the vote, later said he would have voted in favor.
“We’re hearing the call to get moving on this,” said Chairwoman Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat and cosponsor of the bill.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
The legislation had been tied up in the committee for two days by the Republicans, led by Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma, who said the bill’s impact on the economy hadn’t been adequately studied. They boycotted most of the panel’s meetings this week to try to prevent a vote until the Environmental Protection Agency reviews the bill further.
Boxer said the Republican call for further study was a stalling tactic. The Senate cap-and-trade proposal draws heavily from legislation that passed the House in June, and the EPA’s studies of that measure were good enough for the committee to vote, she said.

They want Mr President to go to Copenhagen in Dec. Mr President is no fool and does not want to go empty handed. Like B Boxer stated they are starting to get heat, to get moving and get the thing passed before Dec.
You all have short memories. Have you forgotten the campaign slogan “Yes we can”. That was no bluff. Now they “can”, and they “will”.
There is too much money to be made selling Carbon Offset Certificates. Check out JPMorgan’s Climate Care web site, if you are interested in volunteering some of your money for a certificate or two. Might as well learn how to buy the certificates now. You’ll feel so cool at work for being so far ahead of everyone else.
Soon if you want to visit family at Christmas you better have your Carbon Offset Certifcate with you at the airport or else you wont get your plane ticket or boarding pass. If you want to fill your car with gasoline, in the future, you better have your carbon offset certificate credit card with you. The Carbon Offset Certicates that you buy from the bankers will become automatic credit on the card.
That is only the beginning. Lord Stern (doubt that he is related to Howard Stern) had recently declared that the Methane being released by Cows and other farm animals is a major overlooked cause of Climate Change. Makes you want to laugh until you realize that they are setting up another Offset Certificate market. In the future if you want to buy some meat at your local grocer, you better make sure that your “Methane Offset Certificate” purchases were made prior to you leaving the house. They are creating a new system of “money” which they have already setup and are controlling. Just a few more pieces of paper to be created and signed by your Law Makers and its a done deal. Out in the open, right in front of everyone’s eyes. They told you way in advance that “yes, we can”
There was a Texas Rock band – the guys had long beards – ZZ TOP. They had foretold the future back in the seventies or was it the eighties with their song “Money for Nothing”.
That is exactly what Carbon Offset Certificates and upcoming Methane Offset Certficates are – a way of getting “your” money for nothing.
Stop crying about it and get used to it. Getting screwed should not be a new experience for any of you.

yep .. everyone just sit on your duffs and let them tax you to oblivion and back. watch your tv,drink your poisonous water, take your vaccine jabs. here comes the good life! lol this is fucking bullshit, they run the fuck over us”the people” and we just take it, no matter what they do, its okay. but soon enough you will all be running for the hills to escape the ultra high tax’s they are slamming upon us. “the people must stand up and stop this legislation, its a huge ponzi scheme, and the people are the victim. even the poorest of the poor have to be able to see beyond their blind obama infatuation, he could lead the project dopers to their deaths and they will follow him without question. what is this country coming to? what has it become? what are you willing to do to save it? are we men or mice?

Looks like mice to me. “The People” will just get mad and vote for the “other” side. And we will slip down the hole further and further because people are far to scared and ignorant to critically think. Wow how many Indepents do you think will sweep the coming elections? Exactly, people are really f—ing stupid. or is that insane. People constantly try the same crap (from a different angle see parties) and think things will improve. its always the other sides fault…its never the whole damn thing including ourselves that maybe wrong. Nah we never been wrong or mislead right?

“We’re hearing the call to get moving on this,” said Chairwoman Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat and cosponsor of the bill. Al Gore is whining because he needs more cash and he can’t get it unless he shoves it in our ass again. Don’t you want him to have a happy holiday season? All these politicians are a threat to the Constitution. Wake up people. Remeber a few quotes of Thomas Paine – “These are the times that try men’s souls”. ”
When my country, into which I had just set my foot, was set on fire about my ears, it was time to stir. It was time for every man to stir.”
“We have it in our power to begin the world over again.”
Hello fellow citizens!!!!! IT IS TIME TO STIR!!!!!!!!!
Joe Reply:

First we fellow citizens would have to be united. Do you see much unity these days? Do you see cooperation amoung people who disagree on details? This needs to be adressed and it is the single most terrifying thing that the elite can think of. The masses united for a cause that’s not in the elite best interest. Period.
Can we make it happen is the question. Not as long as we can’t let go of our self rightiousness and inability to put aside our disagreements and blame game.

November 5th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
i agree. the only way we will win is if we stand together, and to do that we NEED to be united. Look at the Spartans (remember the movie 300) they were the best warriors we know of and do you know how they did it. UNITY. They were paired soldier to soldier as lovers so they would fight to the death to protect their bed buddy..so maybe we need some more of that man on man action. ok so lets dooo it!

Yes let vote in people that are institutionally “reconditioned” as training and may have an overtly agressive view of the world due to combat. Why not just let the military make civil decisions. Are for a military democracy? Or am I misunderstanding you.
