Senators attack carbon tax proposals on US imports

Senior Democrat senators said on Wednesday they would change a provision that imposes carbon taxes on imports following warnings that the clause in the House’s cap-and-trade bill could spark a global trade war.
The House’s bill contained tough provisions to impose carbon tariffs, aimed at protecting American companies’ competitiveness against imports from countries without equivalent carbon emission controls to those in the US.

Senator John Kerry, who is helping to write the senate’s version of the bill, said in a hearing on the issue on Wednesday: “We have already come to the conclusion in working on the Senate bill that we’re going to try and change that provision . . . we haven’t landed yet completely on where we come out”.
Max Baucus, the Democrat senator who chairs the senate finance committee, said any provisions that “provoke retaliation from our trading partners will only hurt the same industries we’re trying to help”, adding that he was “confident we can craft legislation that strikes the right balance”.

Yes, how ironic they import their slave labor goods only to pay the same kinds of taxes they tried so hard to escape. Still, I think they’re saving plenty of money by escaping the glutonous clutches of banksters and politicians who wish to funnel money into other investments.
Companies like GM can afford it now that they’ve ran off with the bailout money and are building plants in Brazil and are pretending to still be an American company. I have no problem screwing them over, but in the end, I know we will all have carbon taxes to pay.

In other words. Impose cap and trade on american companies while importing cheap goods from out of country that have no such restrictions. This of course ass fucks American industry by design.

They have to keep China happy. China was given a market for its’ shoddy goods in exchange for buying U.S. debt. Just like the saudis & their oil. We buy their oil, they buy our debt. This is why the U.S. doesn’t use the north slope oil to be independent, it would bankrupt the saudis & then who would buy the debt ?????

We need to impose import taxes to level the playing field for our companies producing goods here in the USA. We need to start pumping the oil from our domestic fields and reduce our oil imports period! We then need to start developing alternatives to oil based energy or we should release the tech we already have available but have locked up due to greed.
This will piss off the other countries but hey we need to take care of ourselves because no one else will do it. This is the way it was and the way it will be again.

we need to cap n’ trade all elected officials who vote for this bill. Al Whore and scum like George Soros are poised to make huge profits from dealing with ‘carbon credits’ in coroporations that have already been set up. they will do this at the expense of the American people; and probably destroy what is left of the economy , forcing America to surrender it’s sovreignty as the are doing to Ireland and the European countries with thier “lisbon treaty” ,,,,we should just uprise now, killl them all, and expel all career politicians in Washington and replace them with plumbers, teachers, doctors, cab drivers, etc.

The way I see it now is : The only reason they are talking carbon taxes on imports is because they have already bought and paid for enough senate votes to get the climate bill passed and they are just working /scamming new ways so other countries who import into the USA have to pay to play the trade game.

What the hell is going on?! I am so tired of our elected officials completely ignoring our “sane” pleas of reason! What bothers me is that this cap and slave system will only destroy small and medium size businesses and further push larger businesses to countries who do not have such ridiculously draconian regulations! When we will stand up as one? Prisonplanet should start nation-wide rallies against this BILL! I will be standing at my local intersection will you? I live in CA, central valley! Who else is with me??? Let us remind the rest of the world that true Americans will fight alongside their cause for true freedom and democracy and not what is being portrayed in the main stream media now!

The good thing about cap and trade is with higher electricty prices, people won’t be playing any video games or watch CNN as much. They will loose there job and have plenty of free time to join huge mobs that will march on Washington, dragging the traitors from their halls down to the gulliotine.
