Seymour Hersh: US Training Jondollah and MEK for Bombing preparation

In an interview with NPR on his latest New Yorker Article, titled ‘Preparing the battlefield’, the renowned investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reveals more striking details of his findings on the aim of the $400 million budgeted US covert operations inside Iran. He provides valuable information on US military preparations to strike the country, on the total expansion of the Bush Administration’s executive power, about the US recognition of Iran’s overall positive role in Iraq and on the US support for the anti-Iran terrorist organisations Jondollah, PJAK and MEK.
Hersh explains that the aim of the US covert operations inside Iran is to create a pretext for attack with the goal of regime change. “The strategic thinking behind this covert operation is to provoke enough trouble and chaos so that the Iranian government makes the mistake of taking aggressive action which will give the impression of a country in acute turmoil”, he said. “Then you have what the White House calls the ‘casus belli’, a reason to attack the country. That is the thinking and it is very crazy.”
On Iran’s role in Iraq, Hersh points out: “There is absolutely no clear evidence known to the American government that the Iranian leadership has any interest in provoking trouble with the United States in Iraq by sending in people to cause mayhem or kill Americans. There is just no evidence for it.” He continues further on: “Frankly, the guys I know in the inside– in the Special Forces, high up in DoD, high up in the intelligence community–if you push them hard enough, they tell you that Iran has been more of a force for stability in Iraq than negative”.

Hersh comments that the decision to launch these covert operations was prompted by the 2007 National Intelligence Estimate’s verdict that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons programme and that the approval by the US Congress leadership of the $400 million budget for the operations “is totally an expansion” of the executive powers of the Bush Administration.
He explains how the Bush Administration’s policy of “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” has led the US to support the Baluchi organisation Jondollah and the MEK (Mujahideen-e-Khalq a.k.a PMOI), both of which have clear track records of terrorist activities including against the US. He reiterates that the US has been giving arms and cash to the terrorists in the MEK for years and reveals that “most of the [MEK] leaders have been taking our money and cashing it in an awful lot of bank accounts in London.” He also reveals for the first time that the US has trained MEK teams in the state of Nevada and that “they do a lot of crazy stuff inside Iran”.
Hersh warns that “we have been moving cruise missiles there for a few months now”, and that the US military is ready. “Our submarines are there, our destroyers are there with cruise missiles aboard, our aircrafts are there, our soldiers are there” to attack Iran within “10 to 12 hours” of the go-ahead order by President Bush, he says, stressing that troops have to go on the ground in Iran in order to destroy Iran’s defensive systems.
He finally points out that Bush “is going to be a very active president, I am afraid, until 11:59:59 seconds on January 20, 2009” and raises the alarm about an “October surprise”, a military attack on Iran, in particular if Obama continues to have a lead in the polls.

This is pure disinfo, and I think Semour Hersh has been used to promote disinfo for a long time now. The US intelligence community is smart enough to understand that MEK enjoys ZERO support inside Iran. Probubly close to 100% of Iranians are against MEK because of their support for Sadamm Hussein and the terrorist attacks they have carried out in Iran throughout the 80’s on behalf of Saddam Hussein. Supporting terrorism and internal subversion against Iran would only make most Iranians support the Iranian regime more intensly.
As far for Hersh’s comment that “most intelligence community” thinks Iran has played postitive role…DUH
The US brought in TWO IRANIAN BASED political exile groups and installed them as Iraqi government. SCRI for example has a paramilitary force trained by the Iranian national gaurd. Thats the real scandal. Whould Americans have supported a war against Iraq, if they knew their government planned to install two Iranian back Islamisist parties as the Iraqi government?
Why would the US install pro-Iranian regimes on both sides of Iran and then attack Iran?
Oh, and Greogry Fegel, even the enemies of this country have a more integrated and sophisticated view of the United States of America than you do.

The US invaded Afghanistan side by side with Iran. The US invaded Iraq side by side with Iran. Future historians will puzzle endlessly over why present day citizens of the US were so stupid that they did not know this. However, I’m sure the average american does not know that WW2 officially started when the jewish communist government of soviet Russia invaded Poland side by side with Hitler.
Of course, Hitler was always going to end up at war with his communist ‘allies’, just as the Americans will carry out genocide in Iran. The sheeple are always given simple minded lies for convenience. The cynical truth runs the risk of encouraging thought and analysis.
In the end, the soviets were glad to initially hold the nazis close, for it gave them more time to prepare for the real battle to come. Likewise, the iranians use their unique position in aiding successful US warmongering in Afghanistan/Iraq to build strategies to maximise their options against the coming american war of aggression.
However, those that call Hersh a propagandist for the US war effort are completely correct. Britain and the US fund and train Iranian terrorist groups, but these losers are as useful as those cuban terrorists the CIA trained for the Bay of Pigs fiasco. What Hersh does not want you to know is that Iran is to be invaded and seized by US/NATO troops (the real reason for massive NATO forces in Afghanistan). The trigger for the invasion is the problem (see Hitler and Poland).
If Iran is initially subjected to a campaign of airstrikes, it will have nothing to do with a phantom nuke program, but will be an attempt to create the political circumstances that will allow full invasion, possibly using the chaos in the oil market as an excuse. However, US military planners want any proposed invasion to be planned properly from the off, and not subject to a political game played out after air strikes. If the US is to become an analogue of nazi Germany, Cheney’s generals want the US war machine to be given the same freedom as the nazi war machine had to operate at full potential.
When the US attacks Iran, there will be no going back. The US will have undergone a final transformation into a “might is right” power, with all pretence at morality, humanity, justice and decency stripped away. From that moment onward, US military force will no longer be an option, but the only mechanism for instilling fear and obedience across the planet. The wars that will follow will be beyond the sane imaginations of any of us, and leave the Earth with a fragment of its Human population still surviving.
One last thought. Obama and Clinton have both promised war with Iran (a fact Hersh wants you to forget). In the UK, it took a leader of the so-called socialist left, Blair, to be the greatest mass murdering war monger the islands had ever known. Hitler and Mao and Stalin were of the left (what was Hitler’s party called again?). The right is always powerfully opposed by the left, but the right is happy to accept the left, when the left adopts policies that match the desires of the right. Blair made Thatcher look like a saint in comparison. Obama or Clinton will likewise far outdo Bush in the murderous psycho stakes.

government works,Bush is giving money to the MEK to create trouble within Iran to give the appearance of an unstable and world
threatening government.This would give the bush’s there opportunity

You engage in reckless speculation. I know theres nothing that can be said to convice you of this, but when the inevitable Iranian war you refer to *doesnt happen* maybe you will realize it then.
Albert when you say :the “real reason” the US invaded Afghanistan with NATO is to eventually invade Iran, what the heck do you base that claim on? Some random Alex Jones rant? You just state it matter-of-factly and then move on to more speculation based on your initial totally speculative, totally baseless claim.
The real reason the US invaded Afghanistan was to take out the recalcitrant (formally US sponsered)Taliban and replace it with a more compliant regime under US and British control. How do I know? *Thats what happened* If the US had beef with Iran, why would they remove Irans enemy the Taliban from power? Iran and the Taliban were on the brink of war in the late 90’s why would the US remove Irans enemy for them, if Iran was an enemny of the US?
The current Afghanistan government is largely comprised of the Northern Alliance rebel fighters that were backed by Iran all through the 90’s. Karzai has close relations with the Iraninan government, expanding trade, communication etc., and he was the US installed leader. WHY WOULD THEY THEN INVADE IRAN?????

1. If anyone can find a quote from Obama or Clinton “promising” a war with Iran, Id like to see it. I mean Alberts comment implys that either Hillary or Obama have actually said “I promise you, when im commander in cheif, I promise war with Iran” dude, come on.
2. Albert also claims “the trigger for Invasion is the problem” and acts as if “see Hitler and Poland” is proof or some type of citation. The fact that the government of Germany in 1939 staged an incident to justify invasion of Poland proves ABSOLUTLY NOTHING about the prospects of a US led invasion of Iran in the 21st century, The situation is in a totally differnt international system. involving totally different countries, in a totally differnt part of the world, with decisions being made by totally differnt individuals.
Furthermore, weve had “problems” with Iran for a long time now since the Islamic revolution,hostage crisis, Beirut, various terrorist attacks,etc. So if the US wanted to exploit a “problem” with Iran to invade it, its had plenty of chances. Werent all the so called “neo cons” around then to??

Albert, your claim that “Hitler was of the Left” is laughably false. Yes, the term “Socialist” was in the Party’s title, as it had been when Hitler joined the Party as a spy for the Weimar government. What the party was called when it was formed and what it became under Hitler’s influence then leadership are polar opposites.
