The man suspected of opening fire on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and dozens of other people outside a Tucson supermarket Saturday may be linked to an anti-government group called American Renaissance, according to a Department of Homeland Security memo obtained by Fox News.

The group is described as anti-immigration and also anti-Semitic. Giffords was Jewish.

It’s not clear if 22-year-old Jared Loughner was a member of the group, but federal officials reportedly are pursuing it as a possible lead, based on videos posted on Loughner’s Web site.

Loughner is scheduled for his first court appearance on Sunday.
