Swine Flu Hysteria Spreads Faster Than Actual Virus
Why are governments acting as if armageddon is around the corner when swine flu has claimed just one victim all week?

Despite the fact that swine flu has claimed just one victim all week, a kill rate multiple times lower than the common flu, governments of the world are acting as if armageddon is right around the corner.
The World Health Organization calls a virus that has killed a confirmed 12 people in over a week a “threat to humanity” while talk of martial law, mandatory vaccinations and forced quarantines runs rampant.
Much of the hysteria is being fueled by people inundating hospitals and doctor’s offices who have mundane illnesses like the common cold, but who just want to “make sure” they don’t have swine flu. Such cases are immediately treated as “suspected swine flu cases” by the media and the panic spreads faster than the actual virus, which according to Mexican health officials is now clearly slowing down.
However, while media headlines and government advisors scream about a potential pandemic and hundreds of thousands of fatalities, an anonymous GP writing for the London Guardian today explains that calls from people worried they have swine flu have tailed off, while people with flu symptoms are almost non-existent.
“Yesterday we had two such calls: a patient just returned from Turkey who had diarrhoea and wondered if it could be flu, and an elderly lady wanting advice about her husband who has respiratory problems. Should he be started on Tamiflu? Simple answer: No,” he writes.
“Today, so far, there have been no calls at all. We have 15,000 patients and are close to one of the larger airports in England, but have not seen a case of flu. We have not had a single patient worrying that he or she might have flu. It feels like a phoney war. We have seen two patients with heart attacks, three acute asthmatic attacks, and a child who had swallowed an implausibly large piece of Lego. Such is general practice.”
However, on the flip side we’ve received reports that the virus is spreading far worse than officially recognized. As we reported yesterday, a doctor in Texas claims that the crisis is at least 10 times worse than reported and that a level 6 pandemic is already in effect.

We can draw the same conclusion that we proposed nearly a week ago just after all this started. Either the spread and severity of the disease is far worse than has been reported or, if the official fatality figures of just 12 confirmed deaths is accurate, governments are engaged in a mammoth fearmongering campaign in order to beta-test the martial law procedures that they eventually plan to institute. Suspension of constitutional rights and the implementation of martial law is already being discussed as a possible response to something that has not claimed a single life of a U.S. citizen.
In addition, pharmaceutical companies with deep ties to the establishment are making obscene profits while governments are cashing in on huge stocks of Tamiflu purchased four years ago to fight a bird flu pandemic that never came, before the drugs pass their expiry date and are useless.
Governments are parroting the line that they are “well prepared” to fight swine flu because of the billions of dollars spent on preparing for the threat of avian flu in 2005 and 2006. The U.S. and UK governments bought a combined 34.6 million doses of Tamiflu alone in October 2005, costing billions of dollars. The shelf life on those doses is quickly running out. Along comes a swine flu scare just at the right time to allow them to shift millions of batches of stock that would otherwise be heading for the landfill.
If the official figures of hundreds infected and just 12 dead are accurate more than a week after the outbreak of the virus, it seems that our first hunch has been proven true. The swine flu story is merely a repeat of the cynical and agenda-driven scare of 1976, when more people ended up dying as a result of taking the vaccine than from the actual virus itself.
As Simon Jenkins discusses, we’ve seen it all too often before. During the BSE scare in Britain in the mid-nineties, we were told that the disease had “the potential to infect up to 10 million Britons”. The damage done by the disease was virtually none yet the meat industry was savaged and British farming was all but destroyed.
Likewise, in 2003 Dr Patrick Dixon, formerly of the London Business School, created a furore when he stated the SARS virus had “a 25% chance of killing tens of millions”. The virus killed 774 between November 2002 and July 2003 and there hasn’t been a single infection in the six years since.
A fatality figure in the millions was again hyped during the avian flu scare of 2005-2006, another doomsday scenario that never happened.
Compared to the lethality of swine flu, these diseases had a far greater impact, and yet none of them even came close to living up to the same “end-is-nigh” proclamations made by health authorities that we are again hearing today.

I for one believe it is worse than we are being told. If you think logically you will agree. Consider this: Why are people dying in Mexico but supposedly not the U.S.? Why are they telling us contradicting numbers on the news? This morning on CNN they posted these numbers at the SAME TIME and every one in the room with me was shocked at how contradictory they were. At the bottom it said 257 cases worldwide. THEN DIRECTLY ABOVE THIS IT SAID 312 CASES IN MEXICO! And just before that there was a man saying there are 2000 suspected cases in mexico city and that this is quote “nothing to worry about because thats only 1 percent of the population!” Then you have the mayor of NEW YORK saying these exact words “we recommend you do not wear masks!” he didnt say they might not be effective! he said the exact words we recommend you do not wear the masks! They want this disease to spread that is why they havent closed the borders. And obama says its because it would be pointless to close the barn door after the horses have gotten out! Well what they are doing now is leaving the door open so the REST OF THE HORSES CAN GET OUT! How does that make sense? Why are they making preparations for a serious disease(closing schools, talks of martial law, vice president says HE wouldn’t ride public transit, gee thanks you wouldnt but you give a damn if the people do!) while at the same time telling people that this is less deadly than the common flu!?? this article flies in the face of what was on PP yesterday. honestly, the journalistic integrity of this site is is piss-poor shape and has been for a while. it is hypocritical of PP to publish any article condemning the mass media for “fear mongering” when they’re guilty of the same exact thing.

I don’t see how posting about opposite sides of this debate would qualify as piss poor journalistic integrity. It points out in this article itself what they have been reporting and per what sources. All in all it’s giving you more information with which to think this through on your own with. It is as always up to you to decide what you believe. I personally would be having a much bigger problem with the reporting on this site if they did stop giving you all the info available or that they are aware of. One sided journalism is what what we deal with everyday in the main stream media and I don’t believe it works. They too have all week been hyping this story, but do you think that they will give you anything apposing what they have been saying. No.. they will just drop it going on to the next sensationalized headline while leaving everyone to believe that we really have been through some major crisis. Your being asked to use your brain here. They provide what they can when they can and that is the best that anyone can be asked to do.

basically, folks, you have to understand that there’s a difference between raw facts and spinning facts or inserting opinions into these articles that provide so much “information” for you to think about. if it was just facts, there’d be no argument to have, but since this is PP, you’re getting SLANTED, SENSATIONALIST, YELLOW JOURNALISM and that’s just the facts. don’t get me wrong, CNN, Fox, and MSNBC all do the same thing and i call them out on it too.
i have nothing against Alex Jones, Paul Watson, or PP in general, but there comes a point where we have to recognize what is real and what is not. the agendas and the “freedom fighting” and whatever else you want to include DOES NOT constitute “news reporting”. if you want to go back and sterilize this article of all the spin, then you’re left with an empty article. this is not news. this is an opinion piece, as are just about all the articles on PP. they deserve no more or less credit that keith olbermann, anderson cooper, or bill o’reilly. nothing sets them apart and i’m unconvinced of any new agency’s “agenda”, be it liberal, conservative, or “truther”, if they’re going to be peddling this much influence in their writing.
for an example of real reporting, sans opinions, try BNO News. DO NOT try BBC. even AP has a slant sometimes, but they’re pretty good too. Democracy Now is interesting, but has a clear agenda. But for the love of all that is human, stop calling PP and its affiliates a “news” network.

We visit this site to be met with fear mongering every day. It has gone into overdrive over this swine flu. We’ve heard it is race-specific, targeted towards the poor, a population-trimming bio-warfare. This isn’t a journalistic website, it is a soap box on Hyde Park.
It is easy to see why it spreads such fear. Almost every ad, the bread and butter that pays the wages of these ‘journalists’, is peddling means to survive the global meltdown and holocaust. You may claim to be objective, but when you’re paid by fear mongers, it is no surprise that you become a fear monger. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t publish stories which are unsettling, but please, please, hold yourself to better journalistic standards.
I used to read this site avidly, but now I visit out of fascination. You have really gone off the boil. You need to take a step back and truly look into your work and its credibility. Not all of us are sheep who will continually swallow your stories. I think most people will agree your work on 9/11 was groundbreaking, but you have failed to build on this.
Please, please become an investigative site we can all be proud of. You’re losing it.

Agreed, Darren. Jones had some valuable info following 911 and during the Bush admin, but before that he was guilty of the same crude fear mongering he’s continuing today.
I only bring this up because I WANT TO SEE progressive movements in the news media and I FAVOR a second investigation into the events on 911. But with this kind of nonsense going on at the website of the de facto leader of the “truther” movement, no one is ever going to take that seriously.
I’m not going to bother accusing Alex Jones and his network of anything more than dismal journalistic standards. There are some who believe that it’s much more than that, but I’m not going there. I would like to believe Jones knows he needs to turn things around, and I would hope to live to see it.
Alex, this is YOUR wake up call. You can putz around with this silly fantasy kid stuff or you can make a difference by getting real about it. One path is brave and the other is cowardice. One path will legitimize the some of the work you’ve done in the past and one path will lead to people laughing at you until the end of time. The choice is yours.

I can seriously tell you haven’t studied much history concerning governments and those who benefit from such fear-mongering as the excuse of enslaving the people. I can also easily tell that you don’t do your homework, especially when PrisonPlanet has an extensive archive just as Infowars does!
The other question: Do you honestly think there are any higher “journalistic standards” with the current corporate media? I may have gone to and graduated this crummy “public fool” system too, but I did learn to properly speak and write! Interesting how the U.S. federal government has been promising the economic collapse of Mexico. And immediately thereafter a biological crisis stikes the country out of season and half a world away from where such emergencies normaly arise. (east Asia)

67,000 people die annually from influenza. When that many have died from swine flu let me know, I might.. possibly.. maybe… perhaps.. begin to start being the least bit worried.
What worries me tho is the fact that governments are trying to get people to vaccinate and the media is once again spewing fear.. Srew that .. 80% of nurses don’t get vaccinated ever and they work around the sick people with the influenza. That should tell you something.
Besides that the Baxter corporation that is making the swine flu vaccine was found to have contaminated many Avain flu vaccinations with live Influenza.. Like I said screw taking vaccinations..

He’s pointed out statements from gov’t reps saying the big wave is next. They are laying the ground work for their future plans. I absolutely agree with this article. The hysteria seems much worse and damaging than the virus itself. I live in Rio de Janeiro and I have a schedule trip to New York and Massachusetts in the end of June. Everyone I know is telling me to be careful and reconsider this trip. I cannot believe this!

Once again we have those who accept authority as truth rather than the other way around the news tried to say that the virus had closed within thirty miles of Maine a few days ago and we don’t have martial law, i have yet to see anyone in the area with a confirmed case of the flu, and I have no fear of the former if it comes it comes on that day I want to be proved wrong so we can do something about it but I honestly believe it is one of many hoaxes designed to instill fear in us and will adamantly deny it until I see it with my own eyes call me a weirdo like that but I’m just not a monkey dancing to the beat of the news.

Time for realism. The WHO is a member dominated consortium wherein all member countries establish a pact to assist each other during manifestations such as pandemics.
They also agree to honestly share and truthfully tell the real statistics afflicting the country in peril. These figures are not meant for public consumption, as they represent the real facts on the ground, but only to fellow govts.
To avoid panic and chaos of the masses, fictional numbers are provided, as always much lower than the real ones. The truth cannot be printed or stated, again, for fear of the panic and chaos that is sure to follow (based on psychological studies of the masses and of populations).
The disaster pandemic now gripping Mexico has thus already provided member countries with a clear understanding of what it is they will inevitably be confronting. By now, and throughout the next few weeks, their studies will give them a very good idea of the percentage of the population who will get infected, percentage that will not, percentage that will have only minor illness, those more severe, and those who will die. Their models will show the rapidity of the pandemic’s spread through continents and countries.
Already, the EU has determined that 40 percent of its population, or one hundred fifty million people, are likely to fall ill to this pandemic. (google this if you don’t believe me. Through the tragedy in Mexico member states already know, assuming no new mutations, how much medication they will need, how much infrastructure, how many body bags, etc…
It is safe to assume that the US govt is well aware of what awaits us. It, like all govt’s, cannot contain the pandemic, so they try to treat it in order to save as many lives as possible. They know, however, that not all can be saved, but that not all will be infected and fall ill. The antivirals in stock will thus be used for the sickest among us, and not those who will get sick, but only minimally.
If we use the 20th century’s Spanish Flu as an example, we can expect roughly 40 percent of the US population to fall ill, with a 2 to four percent death rate. One hundred thirty million infected and ill, with anywhere between 2 and 5 million dying. This the government already knows and can’t do anything about. Thus, its concentration at containing panic and chaos, by manipulating truth and outright lies and propaganda in the media, and providing treatment to those who will get sick but nonetheless survive.
As we see this virus spread in a state, say Arizona, first from 4 cases then to 20, then to 400, then to 2000, then to 20,000, and so on, as the virus follows the predictable model for a pandemic, we will start seeing more severe cases, and hence numbers of dying as well. It is easy to see this if you understand the movement of pandemics, the behavior of a virus, and simple statistics.
The numbers in Mexico you see on teevee are a lie. The idea that it is leveling off is a joke, as even the WHO admits. They are much greater, and hence the reason the government of Mexico is going through incredible methods and laws to help contain the virus. You didn’t think they would go to all the trouble, and the loss of their entire economy, for a few infections and deaths, did you?
Soon what is seen in Mexico will hit us here. Yes we are much more powerful and wealthy, with more organization and preparation, more education and training, yet pandemics do not discriminate based on power or wealth. You cannot fight or defeat a pandemic, you can only hope its tidal wave does not do too much damage.
It is better to be pragmatic and prepare as best you can. If this wave does not hit us hard, the one come flu season surely will.
Be safe and I hope you don’t blow this message off. The virus is here, and it won’t be leaving anytime soon.

I agree with you what everyone is missing, this is 24 / 7 media environment. This could be a minor out break but in previous pandemic flu infections there wasn’t simple global communication and instanteous information. I suspect even in 1968 it took weeks for the various countries to realize that there was an outbreak, let alone a pandemic.

The first cases in NYC weren’t even confirmed until Sunday and while the offical number remains at 50 – see article linked above- there were 86 suspected cases in upstate NY on Wednesday.
The current sample is too small to represent statistically significant ratios.

I’m absolutely convinced they’re just testing the masses to check on response and hysteria prior to the big one being unleashed. This is clearly not a pandemic. My Annual Pandemic Report
Last year at about this time of the season I wrote an article on MRSA. The Spring before that I wrote a piece on the Bird Flu / H5N1, and the year before that (almost to the exact day) I wrote an article on SARS. The entire chain of these “Flu / Plague Articles” of mine started with an Anthrax scare back in 2001, and it seems as if every year since, we are threatened by some kind of new “you name it” potential Pandemic. This year of 2009 is no different, as we are now being hammered by an insensitive, sensationalizing News Media on the latest and greatest of these – ” The Swine Flu”.
I can hardly keep track of all these annual Flu threats in their proper order, so I’ve decided to write a final article on it all called, “The Annual Pandemic Report” where I can simply republish it once a year to save me the time of having to create a new article every Spring. If it’s OK with y’all, I’d appreciate it if you’d just fill in the name of the newest threat in this space “__________________” and then take the following advice to heart. OK? After all, my advice on these Flu / Viral / Bacterial hazards is the same regardless of the threat.
First of all, let’s isolate the true source and the actual threat to society even if one of these Pandemics should take off on a Planetary scale: At this particular point in history, we have a super technical, computerized Government where almost all of the Scientists have been drafted by a Governmental Scientific Machine. This includes the Psychs, the Medicos, the Bio-Scientists, and the Giant Pharmaceutical Companies. More and more on a daily basis we see all the citizens of the World becoming economic, social, and political Slaves. This is the result of our Governments using “Fear” and “Chaos” to get us to agree on giving up our Human Rights.
The US, Europe, Russia and China need to completely reform their administrations of Science. But there is not much chance of this happening in present time since they are too large and apathetic to suddenly smarten up and change their ways.
As these Governments continue to deteriorate, we need to persist in operating at Community levels and take more responsibility whenever we can. More than likely, IF a World Pandemic should explode upon us, it will be because of some Government Plan or Screw-up (doesn’t matter which), that has been created with the intention of generating more Governmental Control and / or the implementation of some insane Eugenics (population control) Program.
Should an actual Plague / Pandemic (Natural or Government created) occur, it is only necessary to do the following to keep you and your family safe:
Plague / Pandemic Prevention
Do regular Cleansing; Eat healthy Organic Food and Exercise regularly. Keep your Body clean, and in excellent Physical Condition at all times.
At the first sign of any illness turning on, take 2 dropperfuls of Organic Echinacea Tincture (absolute highest quality only) 3 times a day. Do not take Echinacea for more than 3 weeks at a time. Best preventative usage of Echinacea is: One week ON – One week OFF.
Daily, take 2 or more dropperfuls of Total Tonic 3 or more times a day (You can easily make this formula yourself. I will post the recipe after this one.)
Take Astragalus every day from hereon out.
Immediately increase your Vitamin D3 intake from 10,000 IU’s to 20,000 IU’s daily.
For someone who already has the Plague:
Take 1 oz. of DMSO immediately and then 1 dropperful of DMSO first thing in the morning every day on an empty stomach until the illness has completely gone.
Take 1 oz. of Echinacea Tincture immediately and then 2 dropperfuls every waking hour until the symptoms cease.
Take 1 oz. of Total Tonic immediately and then 2 dropperfuls every waking hour on the hour until you are well. You can use more of the Total Tonic if you wish.
The infected person must be put on an Organic juice fast immediately and taken off of all solid foods!!! Freshly made Organic Juices Only!!! Do at least one hot bath or sauna a day (preferably two or three). Make it as hot as the person can stand it, for a minimum of half an hour preferably up to 45 minutes. Drink six cups of hot fresh Ginger tea while in the tub or sauna. Go to bed with a ½ a Garlic Clove Suppository and increase your daily raw Garlic intake to 3 or 4 Cloves, and you’ll have any of these illnesses licked. This is my handling for any Plague, Flu, Cold, or major Bacterial / Viral attack.
It’s that simple.

Its more likely that the media is the main driving force in all of this. If the media is reporting that the pandemic is upon us, but the doctors are saying that there isnt much happening to indicate such. This kinda forces governments to demonstrate that they are ready to keep things under control. The messages from the UK government are that it aint as bad as is being reported, but still they will be ready for the worst should it happen.

First of all I speak with knowledge of what is going on out on the Highways of America. I have been driving over the road for 32yrs so I think I know what I am talking about. Just a warning to all americans stock up now because shortages will begin to show up very soon. I drive an 18 Wheeler and Haul food product all 48 states and I am heading home as with most and I mean most of all the drivers I have talked to and hear conversations all day on the C.B. radio. First of all we want to be home when this gets real bad and second we do not want to get the swine flu on the road as that to us would be almost a death sentence. Most of us eat in truckstops and shower in public restrooms at the truckstops so the chance of getting this is very very HIGH! As of medical attention if we do get the swine flu on the road the driver would have to call an ambulance because very few hospitals can take an 18 wheeler parked in the Lot. Most if not all of the food and goods are moved across America by truck and this will certainly turn into a huge fiasco as shortages start to become notice by everyone. People will panic and you can be sure there will be Martial law in the Big citys due to shortages of food.
my advice is don’t panic just do what the Boy Scouts say “Be prepared” Get your supplies now 3 or 4 weeks to be safe.

FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! are you scared yet? THEY WILL KILL YOU, THEY WILL KILL YOU, THEY WILL KILL YOU! are you scared NOW? If not lets do this some more Fear, Terrorists, viruses, FEMA Camps, ect..ect..ect.. I is all the same hype…and it does not matter if it is GWB, Giuliani, Tom Ridge, CDC, HLS, or whoever else can utter the words. It is all the same.. Ron Paul had the most intelligent thing to say on this and for some reason Alex is not picking up on it. For Christ sake Dr. Paul is a doctor, a presidential candidate, and economist, and a really smart person. He said they used the same propaganda in the seventies or eighties and the fact that people die each year from virus for the normal variety seems to be less attractive for the propaganda machines. The fact 50,000 people die in car wrecks each year and nobody cares, 100’s of thousands of people die of heart disease and nobody cares about that. NO DRAMA…
People would be advise to look more at the messenger than the message…I do and I always ask my self why are they telling me this? What is it they want me to do? What emotion is generated by this message? The are critical thinking questions instead of running around under the control of the messengers providing propaganda to the masses.
The see us as a stupid herd running in any direction they control and we have little ability to stop (don’t react), Look (check out all available information), Think (create a correct plan of action based on ALL of the available Information) the ACT appropriately without FEAR .. These are the actions of an intelligent human being who does not REACT to every thing someone says or does.
Dont like FEMA camps? ARM yourself with twice as many guns and ammo than you need.
Dont like government? Support an liberty canidate and start a recall petition,
Dont like Fearmongers? Speak up!
Dont like the media information? Read bloggers and comment sections.
Vote with your time and money…it is very powerful.
Start a Tea Party…..Where was Alex in the Tea Parties? While I get all of the bloggs on FEAR I got no Tea Party Bloggs…Hmmmmmm…Is that because it is a solution instead of propaganda Fear Mongering? Why didnt I hear that States have legislation to exert state sovereignty under the tenth amendment of the US Constitution. Many states like Alaska, Washington, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, and Texas have already drafted such legislation. That is freaking Good News! Why don’t we know who is doing it and how we can support them? Talking about the problems and not having answers is the same old junk news.

im from new zealand. and basically there was no news about swine flu at all before last week, then bam woke up the other morning and that was it it was eveywhere being thrown in our faces, people over here are not wearing masks, and we were told that it was a group of students from rangitoto college who brought it back from mexico returning from a school trip. Total propaganda on our governments behalf aswell, now im not disputing swine flu doesnt exist im just disputing its origins, and calling something swineflu is going to automatically conjure up unwanted thoughts as pigs in most cultures are generally thought of as dirty am i right? also i knew this would happen here New Zealand is used as a guinea pig for social engineering, small population economically developed country and plenty of sheeple so it has the perfect conditons.I believe there are operatives who are about to release a second more apparent outbreak over here very very soon, did i mention that if you have influenza a type here that the nz government has General practitioners who are being sent to peoples homes and basically forcing them to take courses of fucken tamiflu!
this is weird aye, considering the week before last we were all content to live in our so called paradise, nz clean, green, least corrupt, this is bullshit!
