Taliban kidnaps US soldier in Afghanistan

In an unprecedented move, insurgents abduct an American soldier in troubled eastern Afghanistan where coalition troops have lost several grounds to the Taliban.
The US military headquarters in Kabul confirmed that the soldier has been missing from his base since Tuesday.
The military said it would not provide further information about the missing soldier or the province in which he has gone missing.

“We are exhausting all available resources to ascertain his whereabouts and provide for his safe return,” a US military statement said Thursday.
US military spokeswoman Captain Elizabeth Mathias said she believed that the soldier had been captured by militants operating in the region
This is while a commander of the Taliban’s Haqqani faction said that his men had captured one US and three Afghan soldiers in Paktika Province, which borders Pakistan.

My heart goes out to him and his family. Those piece of sh!t ragheads are f ing brutal as hell. My nephew is gearing up for his 3rd tour, leaving in August. He and his buddys cannot stand Obama, and say that he scares them more than the ragheads. Taliban are rivals of Obama’s muslim brothers, that’s why he has no problems with bombing the hell out of them.

well considering that the usa always tortures and kills most prisoners, the enemy knows this and will do the same for revenge. Knowing you will be tortured to death give a lot of incentive.

How can a soldier be kidnapped. They openly say this is a war, so how come on one side its kidnapped a soldier, and on the other side it would be captured a taliban fighter.

You never read that a group of unsuspecting Afghan villagers were kidnapped, they have a better word for that: “detained.”

I have no doubt that the soldier is missing however, I doubt that is was the Taliban. He probably realized that he was fighting for a bullshit government and a bullshit cause. Same thing happened to me when I was in the Navy although it was usually an alcohol related incident.

Well first off, I hope the seals or recon finds him before they cut his head off on al jazerra… even though the us government and certain elements of the military torture suspected terrorists that doesnt mean every united states soldier, airmen, sailor or marine does. and to say that its ok for the taliban to torture one of our soldiers is fucked up. all we do in the military is do what we are told or suffer the consequences of not doing so… no one ever asks us , if we want to go fight a phone war, they tell us we have to, so thats what we do. i wish we could refuse to go, but in the end you will be forced to go and lose a bunch of money , your rank and what little freedom you do have in the military. and if you just go ua then you’ll probably get a shitty discharge that will fuck up your benefits and your chances of getting a decent job when you get out. all of the fucked up shit that happens over here in iraq and afgan you always see the sgt, cpl or lcpl and below get charged, you never see the real people that ordered you to do so get into trouble. they just get “relieved” of command, did you know it takes an act of congress to take away a SNCO’s rank away, thats staff non commissioned officer, thats nearly impossible to do too. bottom line is the true badguys are the officers and snco’s. we had a staff seargent in my platoon that got 2 DUI’s and a hit and run , he hit a little kid on a bike and drove away in camp lejeune. but all he got was restriction to the barracks and not allowed to reenlist. but if a sgt or below does it, we get fucking burned, and run up the flag pole. its bullshit, if your an e5 or below, you dont mean shit, we are basically slaves in the marine corps. so before you all go blaming all of the military think of this… regardless of how bullshit the war is, if you saw your best friend, your brother in arms get his head blown off in front of you, or the vehicle in front of you with all your friends in it get blown to pieces and all thats left is pieces of bones and blood splatters, wouldnt you be pissed??? just so all of you know, the ROE and EOF in iraq has completely changed from what its used to be, its nearly impossible to fire your weapon even if your defending yourself! there is an investigation every time we fire a weapon, and thats not good. they are basically leaving us out to dry in the enemies crosshairs. they dont give a shit though, most insurgents set a bomb and hide amongst the civilians, or they shoot at us from a mosque, or they shoot at us when they are in a crowd of civilians. just bring us home so we dont have to deal with this bullshit anymore. war is war regretfully and innocent people always get stuck in the middle. im by no means a supporter of the war but since i am in the military and in iraq shouldnt we be able to defend ourselves? or should we just let the insurgents kill us? would that make yall happy or what??? all of us out here want to go home, and im sure you all want us there too…so bring us home. we dont got a say in it, you do… im glad i aint in afgan, those guys got it shitty over there, they live in tents, they only got electricity 5 hrs at best a day, and no running water, which means no showers or bathrooms. they dont even have porta johns. they shit in a bag then they throw it away. im sure they’d love to come home too… so bring us home. you should never say we are the bad guys, we are the same as all of you, we have moms, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and wives and husbands. support the troops doesnt mean support the war, dont get them mixed up. we know is bs, or atleast some of us do. ( they do some pretty good brainwashing in the military)… so please dont try to justify what the taliban is going to do to this poor guy, just hope he gets rescued soon.
p.s. the “detainees” we get in iraq get treated pretty well now, atleast when the military’s got them, when we hand them over, i got no idea what happens.but i do know that the military takes care of them just like if they were actual pow’s… we have to help them when they are wounded, even if that same guy just shot your friend in the chest…..
you should hate the people who sent us here, not the people who are here…

Ryan in Iraq, THANK YOU! God Bless you man. I am a patriot, ex soldier and believe in our men & women overseas fighting. I agree 100% with what you are saying. Most Americans with no military experience have no fucking clue. i was in the Air Force, so definitely not a REAL soldier like those of you in Iraq & Afghanistan but I saw the politics & bullshit quite clearly. I watched as foreign teenagers in the french ROTC programs got ride after ride in our f-16’s and our own people on the base were denied flights. I watched priveleged officers & their families receiving top notch medical care while our enlisted troops were whisked in and out of our doctors offices quickly to make way for the hot blonde officers wife that was coming next. I left after four years because i could not stand the bullshit. I decided i would be better off as a citizen soldier when Korea, China or whoever invaded and that I would never again put my life in the hands of a military that works for the oil industry. As for the kidnapped soldier my heart goes out to him & his family. I think we all know what his fate will be. This should be a reminder to all soldiers to fight to the death regardless of how outnumbered you may be. As for the PC fuckers that do not want to let our soldiers defend themsleves, FUCK THEM!!! It’s your life, DEFEND YOURSELF! I would rather serve a prison sentence for doing my job than meet my maker prematurely. God gave all of us men balls for a reason and no man has the right to tell you not to defend yourself. I always admired general Patton and men like him, it seems now that our military leaders are bowing down to the pussies running our country in the ground. It’s okay though, I’m sure we’ll be fighting some new battles soon, on our own turf once our politicians are unable to get the assholes who hate us to unclench their fists! Ryan said he believed in a “just war” ie, defence of the homeland. So how then can you say that fighting overseas is just???? Bottom line mate, they SHOULDN’T be there and 4,300 + American citizen would NOT have been needlessly killed in Iraq or the increasing number in the now Af-Pak war. In WWII the yanks were invited to come to the assistance of the UK, which was floundering against the onslaught of the German war machine and EVERYONE in Europe was really glad they did. BUT, since then, they’ve stuck their noses into other countries’ business AND had their asses whopped into the bargain. So, yes, join the Army, Navy or Air force, be proud, BUT stay fukkin’ home, the rest of the world doesn’t actually want you in their backyard, you guys are the bringers of death and state sponsored terror.
