Terror Hits Mumbai Tourist Hubs

Gunmen conduct a ‘coordinated terrorist attack’ across Mumbai’s major tourist hubs, with over a dozen deaths and many injuries reported.
There are emerging reports of many fatalities and at least two dozen people injured in at least seven different attacks across the city.
Local television news report at least 10 deaths as a result of the attacks. Others suggest over 25 people have died.
The APnews agency is reporting a local hospital official saying at least 25 people have been brought to the city’s G.T. Hospital near the scene of the shootings.
A British eyewitness who was caught in one of the attacks, Alex Chamberlin, said there is “no doubt in my mind” that the attacks were the result of a fundamentalist Islamic terror attack.
Local police say they consider the attacks an act of terrorism.
The police chief said automatic weapons have been indiscriminately used, along with grenades.

And about the Mumbai “terror” shootout, it seems really fishy that the assets,uh….I mean..uh..terrorists, actually asked the victims if they were American or British before opening fire.

Last time this happened the Indian police at the time blamed the Pakistani Secret Service as being behind the attacks which were carried out by a muslim extremist group. Maybe Pakistan has been “asked” to do it again. I think this could be a big one brewing. It’s very brazen.

Sure is a shame this happened within 48 hours of Bush telling Israeli prime minister Olmert that he could not help them attack Iran at this time, how convenient.

what do you mean by ‘peaceful religion’? No religions are peaceful, worst of all Christianity. Hindu religion is by my estimation one of the closest to a straight path to God, and a great grandfather of other newer and more negatively influencing religions. One things for sure, these extremists are likely to influenced outside of india.

This attack is Radical Islam. They are trying to take over India. India is a large country, they have an army, weapons, world recognition, AND INDIA NEVER CLOSED THEIR BORDERS TO NEW IMMIGRANTS–RADICAL ISLAM, ETC. Radical Islam is also trying to take over England, France, Australia, and the United States. It starts with mass immigration to these democratic countries. Then in the name of Democracy, they ask for Mosques to be set up as a base for launching terrorist attacks. It is already happening in the States. Any day these types of attacks can happen here. Start seeing the big picture.

MUMBAI: Army commandoes moved into the luxury Oberoi and the Taj Mahal hotels early on Thursday to flush out terrorists holed up hours after an
unspecified number of heavily armed gunmen went on a rampage in ten places in South Mumbai killing 80 persons and taking some foreigners hostage.
Four suspected terrorists were killed in two separate incidents overnight including two during a gun battle in the country’s iconic landmark Taj hotel, police said.
Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil said nine suspected terrorists have been arrested. Schools and colleges were ordered to be closed.
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said five police officers including Anti Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare were killed in one of the worst terror strikes in the country’s financial capital that in all claimed the lives of at least 11 police personnel.
“The operation (by security forces) is still going on,” he said. Besides army commandoes, naval commandos and Rapid Action force personnel joined in the operations to rescue those stranded in the two hotels. Five columns of Army and 200 NSG commandoes have been rushed. Two sten guns have been recovered by police so far, he added.
Deshmukh said it was not immediately known how many terrorists were involved in the audacious attack in ten places that shook the western metropolis. The chief minister said the Taj and Oberoi are not in control yet. He said there are no terrorists in Cama hospital which was also targeted by gunmen.
Police reported that some hostages were still being held at the Taj Mahal and Oberoi with eyewitnesses saying the gunmen had targeted foreigners after they kept shouting: “Who has US or UK passports?” Several guests were also stuck.
Fire was still raging in the old wing of Taj hotel several hours after it was rocked by five to six blasts and enormous clouds of black smoke rose from the century-old edifice on Mumbai’s waterfront.
