Whether certain Israeli leaders or "organizations", (not all Israeli leadership), have supported Hamas to counter the PLO as you say; or to counter Hezbollah as Alex said; or to derail the peace process as others have said, or for some other unstated unto here purpose. The basic premise is that these sort of things unfortunately go on. And I don't really know the reason(s) why. But it's good to be aware and to have civil debate and conversation on the matter. The real question is; what can be done to spare the innocent lives caught in the middle of these tactics? Be it Israeli or Arab life. It's almost as if people are treated as pawns in a chess game. Only the stakes are too high with these type of games.
