The Carbon Credit Scam: Windfall Profits?

Emerging out of thin air, it has already surpassed solar and wind as the largest cleantech industry. Carbon credits were worth a staggering $63 billion in 2007 and $59 billion in the first half of 2008 alone.
The first thought that should be going through your head right now is why aren’t there screams from the eco-commie left about windfall profit taxes on this bogus industry? Because they are profiting from it and heavily invested in it?
Europe has dominating the carbon market since its creation less than five years ago. EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) was responsible for 70% of the trading in the first half of this year, totaling $47 billion. This dollar amount is likely to increase as the cost of carbon credits soars and with the inclusion of aviation emissions in 2012.
Obviously an industry of this amount of rapid growth opens many business opportunities. Companies are needed to provide verified emissions offsets, energy efficiency audits, greenhouse gas emission audits, and to design carbon software. This industry has gained considerable interest from venture capitalists.

Carbonetworks of Victoria, British Columbia provides software to evaluate carbon footprints and reduction options for businesses, governments, project developers, and consultants. They are located in one of the few areas in North America with a carbon tax. They recently announced the first close of a $5 million Series A round from NGEN Partners.
CarbonFlow of San Francisco is developing software to lower the time and cost of creating carbon credits. They raised $2.9 million in the first round of funding from OVP Venture Partners, Meridian Energy, and Clean Pacific Ventures. CarbonFlow partnered with Det Norske Veritas of Norway for developing and marketing their system.
The infrastructure isn’t fully in place to support such a large industry and business opportunities are plentiful. If the U.S. and China create large-scale carbon trading systems, the sky is the limit for growth in the carbon trading industry.
Although it is great to see action being taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, carbon credits can be a way for an organization to throw money at a problem instead of taking action to reduce their own carbon footprint of their operations. The effectiveness of carbon markets has been questioned, yet this industry doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Both McCain and Obama support a cap and trade system for the U.S.
And herein lies the problem. The carbon credit industry scam, besides being based on a lie, is completely controlled by the dangerous eco-communist on the left. The profits will be huge, benefiting those very criminals in government passing criminal “global warming” laws to protect their own investments. See the criminality? All at the tax payer expense.
Closing question for discussion. If the oil companies are making too much money, when will the calls for a windfall profit tax be aimed at this sham industry? Pharmaceuticals and Google, to name only two, are sliding under the robber barons radar. Will the carbon credit scam as well?

Yes, a Carbon Credit trading scheme is an elite way to make MORE money off of destroying our climate. Doesn’t change the reality of AGW – it just confuses the “less intelligent” into thinking the SCIENCE is the same as the POLICY – they’re not.

Commenter Jeff is obviously a retard, and the author of this “article” is even more retarded for thinking that quoting a retard would in any way be convincing. Gore didn’t “invent” AGW (nor did he claim to…) Why do people keep trying to attribute things to Gore that even he never claimed? Hmm?
Gore is indeed a hypocrite, AND a member of the elite. That doesn’t change the fact that AGW is real – it just indicates that you shouldn’t just accept his (and their) solutions. Don’t be fooled into thinking that Gore is anything but another front in the elites cynical “War To Protect Our Profits”.
Man I can’t believe people on a site like this are so easily manipulated by the elite. The mind boggles.

Definitely the story of the week was the astounding revelation of
of senior Nasa official Clark McClelland.
McClelland supported astronaut Ed Mitchell’s claim that the military was interacting with alien races.
McClelland revealed that he saw an 8 to 9 alien in the shuttle docking bay on his moniter during a classified shuttle mission.
He also witnessed a UFO locked in a stationary orbit with the shuttle.

Karmakaze is right. Through the eighties and nineties (long before the Al Gore sensation) many environmentalists were warning about global warming, but back then the media and the government wouldn’t give the subject the slightest mention.
Now warming has become fashionable because the government(s) have discovered it to be a great way to bleed revenue out of the people who contribute the least to the problem but who are also the least able to defend themselves.
I think there is something more to the strong denial of global warming that we get from the visitors of this site; perhaps an aversion to science and technology as inherently evil which is characteristic of most religious types, although they remain enthusiastic consumers of the fruits of science. One of the products they most zealously adore and refuse to ever relinquish is the precious automobile.
If you can’t give up your goodies (especially if you simplistically associate the possesion of goodies with freedom), then you might as well give up the fight right now. Your submission is guaranteed.

Thanks for the support, but I would like to point out that “giving up your goodies” is yet another part of the liars and deniers tactics.
No one is saying people need to give up cars, for example, they are saying alternative, clean and renewable fuels should be used. Over and over again it has been shown that electric or H2 or some other energy source is more than capable of replacing petrol, but we keep getting told “they want you to give up your car!”
So, I submit that we shouldn’t be helping them in that regard. Stick to the idea of replacing fossil fuels with cleaner sources of energy, and don’t get sucked into adopting the anti-capitalist tag they want you to be labeled with (I’m not arguing about the merits of capitalism by the way).
Clean energy and capitalism are NOT mutually exclusive ideas.

I think that’s pretty old news, WXYZ.
But, it does relate, in a way. Back in 2001, some of the Disclosure Project witnesses (all gov or military/defense industry insiders) claimed that there is a technology being hidden from the public that could replace fossil fuels entirely, is totally non-polluting and essentially would give everyone free and unlimited energy. (The so-called “Zero-Point Energy” technology.)
Of course, this technology, if it exists, would put an end to the dominance of the current energy and financial cartels (the NWO Globalists) that keep us dependent on fossil fuels. They would stop at nothing to keep this technology under wraps.
Now, these globalists are getting so greedy that they are trying to milk us out of even more money with their Carbon Taxes. When will we ever wake up and see that these people are scamming us?
