The Phony Radicalism of Michael Moore

With phony radicals like Michael Moore around, the ruling elite has nothing to worry about.
The filmmaker likes to pose as a radical critic of the status quo, but he isn’t. All the evidence you need is in his latest documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story. Sure, he rails against home foreclosures, bank bailouts, low wages, other real and imagined problems, but his solution would not disturb the sleep of any big banker, corporate bigwig, or political big shot.
The tipoff comes right at the beginning of the movie. He paints an idyllic picture of life in America in the 1950s. His father worked for a big auto company, through which the family got free medical and dental care. All was well. He realizes that a major reason things were so good was that the U.S. military had destroyed Japan’s and Germany’s competitive industrial bases in World War II. But the dominance was great while it lasted. It was a time when an alliance of big government, big business, and big labor ruled the roost. The military-industrial complex was thriving. That seems fine with Moore, which puts him in the camp of the corporatists of Franklin Roosevelt’s Brain Trust, who thought free markets and competition among independent firms were passé. The new world required big monolithic entities that sat down together and worked things out nicely. The spirit of Mussolini hovered over all of it.
Of course, Moore blasts Wall Street because it got all that taxpayer bailout money and is not being held accountable for it. That is worth getting mad about. But how would he feel if the money had been given with lots of conditions and regulations? He might have liked that.
He certainly doesn’t mind that the government had the taxpayers’ money to give away in the first place. He never once suggests that the people should keep their own money because the political elite has no right to it. He also never indicts the Federal Reserve for its legal counterfeiting. That would be the true radical position. Moore sides with the politicians. He even complains that the top income-tax rate was lowered from 90 percent some years ago! Conveniently, he gets the history wrong. He says Republican Ronald Reagan cut the 90 percent rate, but it was really Democrat Lyndon Johnson who did it, following through on John Kennedy’s proposal. (Reagan presided over a cut from 70 to 50 and then to 28 percent.) At any rate, he is perfectly comfortable with government’s taking 90 percent of people’s earnings. He seems indifferent about whether the money is made through honest trade or political privilege.
Favoring a high top rate may not win him favors from some in the establishment, but for generations there has been a wing of that establishment that understood that high marginal rates were the price of the lucrative corporate state. So Moore may not be the pariah among the ruling elite that he makes himself out to be.
Moore’s movie contains much else to make us doubt his radical bona fides. He blusters about Robert Rubin, Timothy Geithner, Lawrence Summers, and their relationship to the current financial problems. Rubin, a Wall Street hotshot, and Summers were Treasury secretaries under President Bill Clinton. Geithner ran the New York Federal Reserve Bank from late 2003 to 2009, overseeing the Wall Street bailouts. In Moore’s eyes, they are the rogues who, along with former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan and former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, gave us the meltdown of 2008.
So far so good. But when he gets to the election of Barack Obama in November 2008 he declares, “This is not what Wall Street wanted.” Yeah? Then why are Moore’s bêtes noires Rubin and Summers close Obama economic advisors, and why is Geithner secretary of the Treasury?
A true radical would not have given Obama a pass. Moore says he’s for socialism, but all he means by that is that workers have some say in their companies. Nothing very radical about that.
If Moore were truly a radical critic of capitalism as he conceives it, he’d be for its true opposite: the radical separation of business and State — that is, the free market.

I watched an interview with Michael Moore on Fox news with Hannity and Moore made a fool of Hannity and Hannity made a fool of Moore. It was very rediculous and grieving to see both of these men claim to be Christians. They are Christians as far as the “world view” of Christianity is but it is very doubtful that either of them are in the kingdom of God.

What you have said is absolutely correct. But when you look at how grim the situation is – that these tyranical leaders have an arsenal of nukes, and millions of obedient troops (with technology that has been kept from the public since even before the days of Tesla, et al) you have to wonder – how can this machine be turned off? It really can’t be. Thats when the conclusion can be reached – that this is a fallen world, and the power has always been in the hands of the elite families who have been literally assigned the job to rule this planet, forever.

I will have to disagree with you regarding Ventura’s comments. Obama did inherit a mess and he is slowly unravelling it. It is the role of the new President to protect the office of presidency, therefore, Obama will not disclose the outrageous actions of the neocon crazies that preceded him and that includes the secret photos of Abu Ghraib. Disclosing these photos to the public would not serve the interests of the US and not many American citizens can stomach the image of children being raped in front of their parents to make them talk.
If the American people turn on Obama, it would be a grave mistake.

Likely the Rahm Emanuel clones, the Jews that is, told him just where he stands in case he ever “got any ideas,” and started making decisions.
They could have told him that they and their media circus put him into the White House, and all they need to do to remove him, is to expose his foreign roots re him being born in Kenya, which makes him ineligible to be the United States President.
As well they likely briefed him on just where they are and what they do, re 911 and numerous other black ops, assassinations, and murders, demonstrating to him the level of infiltration of the US political, banking, and defense infrastructure that they have achieved.
Ventura says that as soon as he became Governor of Minnesota, a swarm of CIA types descended upon him, and made him aware as to just where he did and did not stand.. it seems reasonable to assume the same thing happened to Obama!

Jesse said when Kissinger the war monger won the Peace Prize it lost credibility. He also said we should be glad our countryman won it. Obama inherited a mess and now he is digging a deeper hole is how I see it. He is keeping us in war so how again does he deserve the Prize at all unless it is fixed. He has many words but his actions speak louder and contradict all his promises. Jesse is careful not to condemn people after all he is Governor and has to watch his step. It is supposed to be about truth not opinions. Obama gets the Peace Prize for handing over America to the world basically by trying to convince us all that world government will bring peace instead of being the example so the Peace Prize is a misleading title it should be a gift of gab award then he would have deserve it for his academy award performance of pulling the wool over our eyes. I’m glad to see more are waking up to the FACT that all fat boy AJ truly cares about is making more $$ by propogating hopelessness, gloom, and doom. I did not vote for Obama, but he has only been president for less than 1 year now. How could anyone truly make a judgement call on what he will do ? Why don’t you take the bull by the horns, and debate him yourself? Why don’t you take on Noam Chomsky, Paul Krugman and Robert Reich? Yeah, M.M. isn’t perfect. But at least he’s taking a stand, trying to examine the problem and have people question the basic structures of our society. A.J. seems to often demonize liberals and progressives instead of building bridges and supporting their good points. One of the greatest defenders of civil liberties is the ACLU. But according to A.J. they are a division of satan inc. A.J. does a great job, but he still leaves much to be desired.

If Michael Moore posed a real threat to the establishment, I highly doubt that he would be permitted to voice his views on corporate news networks such as CNN. Whenever I’ve heard Michael Moore speak on news programs on mainstream television, he never…I repeat NEVER says anything “earth-shattering”. I’m always left completely and totally underwhelmed. His movie Fahrenheit 9/11 is the perfect example of “limited hangout”. I do believe that Michael Moore is Controlled (fake) opposition. If he doesn’t mention the Federal Reserve when he rails against corrupt capitalism, that’s all I need to know that his true job is to limit the scope of discussion among political dissidents. For all those who still truth Michael Moore, I sympathize with you, but please wake up to reality that the New World Order is extraordinarily clever and use mouthpieces to limit what we are allowed to talk about. Michael Moore is one of the prime upholders of the false “left-right” paradigm. He is not to be trusted by those who seek radical (genuine) transformation.

If you are still puzzled by the stance of Michael Moore (and Ron Paul!), please consider that they were both together on a recent “Larry King Live”. They seem to appeal to very different segments of our population but are they in the same boat?? The name of that “boat” is the “S.S. Bush Senior” (under the Vatican) and it is about to dock in the NWO! Rome has, is, and will rule this world and is coming full blast against the tiny state of Israel. The use of “Christian” in the MSM means Caltholic and all those who choose a “cross” have the literal “Mark of the Beast”. What about the ‘phony radicalism’ of David Icke? Alex often has Icke as a guest on the radio show- the one who has spewed monumental nonsence like “the world’s run by reptilians”.
He’s not even ‘disinfo’, David Icke is total whackjob/retard info, at least that’s a proper way to see anyone who believes his crap. Truthers/anti-NWO/Patriots didn’t need that douche Icke giving reason for the mainstream to paint us as kooks/fruitcakes/whackjobs that all believe such retarded crap- that the world is run by shape-shifting reptilians. Icketards who still listen to Icke after the guy has said such nonsence and even claimed to be the ‘Christ for the New Age’ need to get a mental enema and take the REAL ‘red pill’ with a big dose of reality, or better yet just kill yourselves.
Those who are disgusted with the way Alex has Icke on the show often but won’t get Icke to denounce his reptilain $hit need to tell him so. and apologize for hurting the image of truthers etc. in the eyes of the many.

Did you ever hear Icke’s full story or read any of his books? Reptilian theory is hard to grasp, but for most people 9/11 conspiracy is also hard to grasp. So take everything with a grain of salt. When I hear AJ screaming and shrieking as a B movie actor, it also pisses me off, but I don’t denounce what he’s saying. The point is, only Icke is blaming the Jews for NWO conspiracy and attrocities in Palestine.

After watching this film I have to agree with Alex on this with an exception; Moore really pushed near the end of the film for the people to stand up against the 1% who’s interests involve nothing more than betraying the people. I am not an American, I’m Canadian, although I’m fascinated at your culture/history. To be honest I know nothing about our NWO situation here in Canada, but I do know where it’ll originate from and when I should be leaving town/country.
Anyways my point is that the people have the power. That signle-handedly made me enjoy the film, it doesn’t matter what the film contained or how much of a crock of s--- micheal moore is, the fact is; the morals portrayed in the film are like-minded to what we who know, we being enlightened people. There is no sense flaming on this open forum.
