There’s No Difference Between Martial Law and the Threat of Martial Law

If a bully threatens to beat up a skinny kid if he doesn’t give him his lunch money, and the bully doesn’t have to follow through because the kid does fork it over, does that mean that the aggressive kid isn’t a bully?
Of course not. He’s a bully because he threatened to beat up the skinny kid and used coercion to get his way.
Well, Congressman Sherman said that congress was threatened with martial law this week. Specifically, he says that Congress was told martial law would be imposed if they didn’t pass the Paulson bailout proposal.

Martial law means that the separation of powers which the Founding Fathers enshrined in the Constitution are destroyed, and an all-powerful executive branch calls the shots.
Is the threat of imposing martial law any different than actually imposing it?
No. Congress is just like the skinny kid.
Just because it forked over $700 billion or more in our lunch money based upon coercion by the thugs in the executive branch doesn’t mean that the thugs are still following the separation of powers or anything else in the Constitution.
Remember that, for years, Congress has operated under “martial law” provisions which force Congress members to vote on legislation without having time to adequately read and review it.
Remember also that the U.S. has been in a declared state of national emergency for 7 years, and normal constitutional provisions were probably long ago superseded.
As University of California Berkeley Professor Emeritus Peter Dale Scott has warned:
“The systems of checks and balances established by the U.S. Constitution would seem to be failing.
To put it another way, if the White House is successful in frustrating [Congress' requests], then [the declared state of emergency] has arguably already superseded the Constitution as a higher authority.”
And remember that U.S. troops are being stationed inside the U.S. to suppress “civil unrest”.
Whether or not there is martial law in name, there is martial law in fact.

I’m disturbed that our elected officials are being threatened. Isn’t it illegal to threaten a Congressional representative? I’m also concerned our congressional representatives are voting on legislation they’ve never seen or are not allowed to review. “Your talk shows your faults; it is like a sieve that separates out the rubbish. The way you think shows your character just as surely as a kiln shows any flaws in the pottery being fired.” (from the Bible, Sirach 27:4-5). The articles author has brought out some great points. Someone who threatens violence is as much a criminal as one who does violence.

1. Sooner or later, the one who falsely yelled “Fire!” in a crowded theatre is brought to justice.
2. The US Constitution is and remains “the supreme Law of the Land” for so long as we have a republic.
3. It is a perversion of the concept of martial law to use this term as a subterfuge for tyranny; martial law is for true emergency action, limited in scope and in duration to the particular emergency itself, and based upon urgent military necessity, a defined term.
4. Congress should resolve that the United States is and remains one nation under God, with the US Constitution unchanged and undiluted by those who violate its terms, and hold accountable this rogue Executive branch. Congress needs to step up to the plate here.
5. With our own domestic police units now so heavily armed, isn’t it already past time to reinstate the Posse Commitatus Act, and end all this “North Com” extra-territorial compromise of our US sovereignty?

It does not effect their money as they pass laws to gain from it. If someone makes a threat there is no differance than actually doing it. Fuck-em all! All the praying in the world has not stopped centuries of politcal slavery and mass genocide.

I read that there is a National Emergency Protocol to be used if the Dow drops 20% in one day (this Protocol was written under Clinton’s watch) 1 1/2 days after the event all banks close, all gas stations close, all super markets close with militarized police in front of all these buildings; martial law is declared, and the dollar goes to zero. I believe the representatives were just being told about the Protocol. I believe the government believed (and may well have been right) that the Dow WOULD go down that much if the bill didn’t pass, just look how much it went down when the bill DID pass. If I can find that article I will advise you.

I am beginning to think the people did not win at all on Monday when bill failed.
Actually the Rep. was holding out for kickbacks.
We were possibly used as a tool so they could bargain for sweeteners for the corporations that fund them.
When they got their goodies, they left us high and dry.

In 2004 my son and I talked about Bush declaring Martial Law with the excuse that he was needed to run the country. I could not understand why the Congress would vote for the bailout considering we are so in debt and who is going to give the U.S. money. That Bush would sink so low to threaten Martial Law is typical of the dirty tricks he has pulled for the last eight years. This should prove to every American that McCain is no better because he has voted with Bush 95% of the time. I am 82 years old and in all of those years I have never seen a worse president and administration. Thank you for alerting people to the truth about the bailout.

well well seems that the us has been preparing for a while for an upheavle in its people makes you wonder why all those armed consentration camps were built doesnt it?
maybe the bankers will cut a deal with the governments when they decide to reclaim their moneys which belongs to us anyways and get the governments to hand over the lands that they control as payment of the money we have put in and the banks have loaned out/gambled with!maybe just maybe they will find a way to save billions of dollers and pounds sterling by maybe retracting the troops from iraq ooo no wait that would mean a real bad things in oil prices and hey bush couldnt live without his oil!

I haven’t read the comments yet but wanted to post this first.Congress should have refused to vote thereby calling the bullys bluff,instead of blinking.If he would have imposed martial law his threat would be exposed and we would then all know that the “bully king has no clothes”.But methinks that the junta would have blinked first,as the last thing they want us(the nation) to know, is “THE TRUTH”.
