Thousands of protesters gathered in the capital today for a series of demonstrations to coincide with the start of the G20 Summit.
The marchers – which included hundreds of hardened anarchists and, bizarrely, Russel Brand – set off from four different railway stations aiming to meet at the Bank of England, in the City of London, at midday.
One set of demonstrators were even pulled over driving down Bishopsgate in an armoured car. The protesters were questioned and the vehicle inspected before they were allowed to continue.
Several individuals, some wearing masks and hoods to cover their faces, were involved in minor scuffles with officers as they were shepherded onwards.
There had been a substantial police presence in the streets around the train station since early morning with dog vans, buses full of officers and helicopters hovering overhead.
