Three killed as Israel bombs UN school

At least three people have been killed in an Israeli bombing raid on a United Nations school in the Gaza Strip.
Hundreds of terrified Palestinians were taking shelter in the building after fleeing fierce fighting between Israeli soldiers and Hamas fighters.
The latest fatalities come after Israel warned that fighting in Gaza could get worse before its mission against Hamas is complete.

Troops are deep inside the region trying to seize ground from the militants.
More than 540 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began its campaign ten days ago. At least 18 are reported to have died in overnight shelling.
Many civilians lack food, water and power and hospitals are struggling to cope with the casualties of the conflict.

I am from canada. I don’t understand the politics behind Israeli attack. I have just 2 questions please can someone honestly answer me.
Is Palestine a real country or a part of the State of Israeli.
2. Is Israeli a country or is it the defacto 53th state of the USA and the #1 state in power and wealth even bigger than Texas or New York?
I don’t think the main stream news is being honest with me and I’m confused’

update! according to a UN OFFICIAL they had given GPS Co-ordinates for all the schemes run by various agencies and also according to the BBC the reason why they bombed it was because apparently HAMAS fighters opened fire on troops. I would post a link up but i’ve just seen this on the 6 o’clock news so something will show up eventually.
