Top Democrats Complicit In Torture Cover-Up
The Obama administration is resisting an independent inquiry into the Bush torture program because top Democrats like Pelosi were complicit in approving illegal methods

We now know why top Democrats are protecting Bush administration officials from facing an inquiry into the illegal torture program – because several of them were actually complicit in giving their approval for such methods to be used.
The White House stressed again yesterday that it would not be pursuing an investigation of key Bush administration officials, despite the manifestly provable fact that the order to torture came from the very top, which was re-affirmed with the recent release of the Senate Armed Services Committee report.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs stated yesterday, “I think the last few days might well be evidence of why something like this would likely just become a political back and forth.”
“By (definition), an independent commission would probably not be something that I would weigh in on if Congress were to create one of those,” he told reporters, according to AFP.
Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also said he opposed an independent torture probe, stating, “I think it would be very unwise, from my perspective, to start having commissions, boards, tribunals, until we find out what the facts are.”
In addition, upon the recent release of the torture memos, Obama’s right-hand man, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, told ABC News that top Bush administration officials “should not be prosecuted either and that’s not the place that we go.” Obama’s statement that accompanied the release of the torture memos stated, “In releasing these memos, it is our intention to assure those who carried out their duties relying in good faith upon legal advice from the Department of Justice that they will not be subject to prosecution.”

Why are top Democrats so vehemently opposed to an independent inquiry into the blatantly illegal Bush torture program? This goes further than the crony self-interests of the two party monopoly – it turns out that top Democrats had foreknowledge of the torture and actually provided their unmitigated approval for the methods when presented with them by the CIA.
Despite Nancy Pelosi’s denial that Congress was informed that the CIA was illegally waterboarding detainees, the Senate committee report discovered that in 2002 Pelosi and three other members of Congress (one other Democrat and two Republicans) were given a virtual tour by the CIA of overseas detention sites and the torture tactics employed to try and make detainees talk. This was reported by the Washington Post in December 2007.
Democrats Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), all held oversight roles during this period. The Post reports that the lawmakers raised “no objections” to the interrogation methods demonstrated by the CIA and that in fact, “at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder.”
So in summary, at least four top Democrats were aware as far back as 2002 that the CIA was using torture tactics which were illegal under the Geneva Conventions on detainees. They gave their approval for such measures and, along with Republicans, advised that even harsher torture methods be employed.
Any independent investigation into the torture scandal will most probably uncover the fact that top Democrats like Pelosi, Harman, Graham and Rockefeller were complicit in approving the torture methods used by the CIA, which would also likely make them culpable to charges on the basis of knowingly covering up the fact that illegal actions which violate both the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Constitution were taking place.
This is why Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic elite are so resistant to prosecuting Bush officials for devising the torture program – and have made every effort to protect them – because they were in on the fun and any truly independent inquiry would expose the fact that this whole debacle was a bipartisan cover-up from the very beginning.

However:
1. “The corporate media, from Fox to NBC and everywhere in between” did NOT push the tea parties. Only Fox did, for their own reasons.
2. The tea parties were not “phony”; the intentions were genuine and it does not make them phony just because the GOP moved in to try and co-opt them.

Yeah, remember how Bush got break after break from the so-called left media, they put his fake news items in, treated him with kid gloves. Then a switch was flipped around Katrina, and all of a sudden they skewered him on every occasion. This was likely because around that time, the elites who control things had tired of him and his Neocon freaks, and they made plans for switching things to the Democrat side. At that point Neocon plans like Iran were all nixed and they were powerless. However, though they screwed up, they had remained faithful to their marching orders, so they still have the elite protection. So for illegal activities like torture, murder, spying, they get a free pass. Compare that to Clinton lying to cover up an affair, that seems so silly in comparison.

There will be investigations and hearings that will span the course of Obama’s first term. In the end, nobody will go to jail or be accountable for their actions. Great post dget! Truthers are actually conservatives, like myself, but they are just all mixed up. If you look at the “end game” concerns of the truthers they are the same ultimate concerns of conservatives; Huge or One world government, global currency, loss of liberty and private property rights, etc. Conversly, there is no such shared concerns between truthers and liberals. Truthers are conservatives, but they ditch the conservative brand of the republican party because of several less-significant issues, usually the social issues that the republican party has adopted. Despite these issues being far less significant then the “end game”, they are much closer to home, emotionally and realistically, and unfortunately it is out of this convenience that truthers are more likely to associate themselves with the liberal wing – and many voted for BARACK OBAMA.
Meanwhile the conservatives usually in the republican party actually try to address the same real concerns of the truthers(allbeit usually not that well). The best and arguably the only example is Ron Paul, a different kind of republican, a republican he is, and he is probably the most respected pol out there for the truthers. Ron Paul is evidence that the concerns of the truthers is alive and kicking in the GOP!

i is for making something italic
strike is for strike-through text
As I discovered, Wordpress doesn’t automatically add quote marks for blockquote, so you’ll have to add quote marks yourself to help make it obvious that it’s quoted.
Use the strike tag when you’re making it obvious that you’re being a sardonic smartypants.

You’ll never admit that valid blackbody model composite color can be applied accurately and that “debunker”/plant temperature charts (usually claiming 1200 C is white-hot) are rigged. These scientists don’t admit that the gravity force, which by the standard model is carried by gravitons, rotates similarly to the E and M forces of a photon, but at a much lower frequency than the photons we’re familiar with because gravitons of course must carry very little energy.

Current science doesn’t admit the graviton’s negative phase limits the attractor power of a galaxy core that emitted it, though the cosine factor producing that phase would suggest a mechanism for cold-dark matter persistence. The cosine factor also replaces what Einstein imagined when he came up with the anti-gravitational “cosmological constant.”
I guess they don’t look at galaxies on the internet enough.

As far as complicit goes, it is pretty obvious at this point. If Torture is against the law and it is something the is beyond the scope of acceptable, then why would Obama protect such disgusting actions? If Obama doesnt proscecute then you have your answer. Water boarding has become so popular that it is being used by the public to get confessions of guilt. Employers are illegally using it against employees in order to curtail theft. Some husbands are using it against wives suspected of cheating. Its use is spreading and must be stopped.
