The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, they say. And to prove it, the city of Toronto has decided to outlaw the sale of bottled water in all municipal buildings, including local arenas.
But rather than being an example of smart, progressive action to protect the environment, this decision is actually just a timely example of the tyranny of good intentions. Here’s why:
For starters, the decision was made by city leaders who say their TAP WATER is what people should be drinking, not bottled water. Oh really? Did these people bother to educate themselves about chlorine or fluoride chemicals? Without question, the tap water in Toronto has far greater toxicity than bottled water, even considering the Bisphenol-A effect.
(ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW)
But that’s a debatable issue. Here’s something that’s not debatable: While banning bottled water, the city of Toronto did NOT ban diet soda and soft drink beverages.
Huh? So now selling water is illegal, but selling carbonated SUGAR water is perfectly legal?
Gee, the soda companies must be laughing their heads off on this one. They were trying to muscle out bottled water for years (before they came up with their own water brands), and now it turns out the goofs at City Hall are doing it for them!
Whatever happened to the idea of giving citizens healthy choices in beverages? Toronto, in all its short-sighted wisdom, has now granted the soda companies a virtual monopoly on beverages sold at the local arenas. With no bottled water available, what do they think people are going to drink instead? Soda, of course. Loaded with phosphoric acid (causes osteoporosis), high-fructose corn syrup (diabetes) and maybe even aspartame (neurological disorders).
Welcome to the Toronto municipal arena. Please enjoy the show if you haven’t yet gone blind from drinking diet soda.
I know I’m going to get hate mail for this, but it deserves to be said: Some of the people serving on city councils are the dumbest human beings walking this earth. I know this because I’ve argued with these people over issues like fluoridation, and I can tell you that, at least in my experience, the kind of people who end up on many city council boards are so intellectually challenged that I’ve often wondered if they all take the short bus to the meetings. (No insult meant to those taking the short bus. It’s less bumpy, anyway.) My apologies to the smart minority who reside on these boards, but you’ll no doubt agree with me that the people sitting next to you need a little intellectual remediation, right?
I haven’t met the Toronto council members, so I can’t say if they’re thoughtful but short-sighted, or just plain stupid. But I suspect a majority are just plain stupid, and they managed to overrule the thoughtful ones who were asking things like, “Well, gee, why are we denying people the ability to buy water at public events?”
If the BOTTLE is the problem, then they should have banned ALL bottles, not the water inside the bottles!
Water = Illegal; Sugar Water = Legal
Okay, okay, okay… so let me get this straight:
If I sell a bottle with water in it, I’m a criminal.
But if I add 16 teaspoons of sugar in the water, suddenly that’s legal!
And if I add dangerous chemical sweeteners, phosphoric acid that rots away kids’ teeth, and any number of chemical additives, then that’s all perfectly fine with the Toronto city council!
Ok, so now I get it.
Water = bad
Sugar water = good
Thanks, Toronto, for clarifying that.
Maybe instead of banning plastic bottles, Toronto should ban stupidity from the city council!
Ban the soda cans, too, while you’re at it, and save the world from excessive aluminum trash. I agree that throwaway beverage containers are a huge problem, and Toronto is usually an intelligent city that thinks ahead, but in this case they’ve demonstrated why liberal tyranny can be just as threatening to your freedoms as conservative tyranny.
Yes, my own government in America may be tapping my phone lines, reading my email and X-raying my UPS packages, but at least I can still buy a bottle of water here! Sure, it’s probably contaminated with Bisphenol-A and made from nothing but filtered tap water, but at least it’s filtered! Toronto citizens now have to drink from the tap, like house pets.
So the citizens of Toronto are now being offered the same quality of water that their dogs get when drinking from the toilet bowl.
How wonderful. Can I have a lemon with that, please?

Toronto Bans Bottled Water Sales, but Junk Sodas Remain Legal
From Thestar.com: Mayor David Miller also defended the city’s moves to push bottled water out of its own facilities, arguing that the city produces its own high quality water. “I don’t believe as Canada’s largest purveyor of tap water we should be selling water in our facilities,” he said…. more

WHAT – THE – FUCK!!!???
Okay if someone does kill these stupid bastards now it’ll go nation wide and the we’ve lost Canada.
Once it’s all over the country, there will be NO getting it back. Think about that then maybe grab a shotgun.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:04 am
Toronto – and by extension Canada – is the global epicentre of idiotic, politically correct gesture politics. It is about the only thing the country produces, apart from Blackberrys.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:22 am
I live in an area where we have lots of ground water, and its being extracted and exported, wait for it, just a moment longer, BY A FOREIGN CORPORATION.
Water should never be sold, ever.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Guys as much as I am for bottled pure water, allot of these asshole water companies a peddling very sub-standard products. Go to you local Culligan dealer (Safeway etc) and fill your own bottles, its chaep. They use Multi stage filters including reverse osmosis membranes to take out the fluoride. OR got to your local water distiller, either way it cheaper. Again, alot of those fuck face companies are using very poor quality water!! don’t use no# 7 water bottles or re-use number #1 and you good to go!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Torontonians in general and Canadians at large are stupid. Not only the banning of bottled water, but look at the polictical condtion. Harper had a minority Government with his own imposed mandate for rulling up to Oct. 2009. He breaks his own mandate (no opposition brought a non-confidence vote) and yet wanted a snap shot election just to let his(Harper’s) American NeoCon Masters guage the extent of public support for Conservitism in Canada, so that the GOP can have yet another indicator of Odds against fellow democraates in the Nov. 4th election. Therre was no other reason for Harper calling the snap shot election for Oct.14th when every indication were there for a monority government. Then he tries to put all the three opposition parties out of cash (in a bid to be a virtual DICTATOR)and now is facing a non-confidence vote. In the process Canada spent $300 million. Harper is a duplicate copy of Bush and a bad one to that. If Tony Belair were the Puddle of Bush, Harper is a Chuwawa.
So better not to expect any thing of intelligence form Canada
December 4th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
ROB canadians in general are not stupid, actually your thinking of americans, we have a much higher IQ average, that being said, our political scene is no differant than the stupid american politician, we also aren’t in short supply of complete morons, targeting canada as saying we are a simple minded people is very arrogant, i work for a laser company and travel to the US on a weekly basis, i would argue that there are alot of undereducated people in the US, this decision to ban water from vending machines is idiotic, i have little faith in western civilization as a whole. 40 years ago, canada was a beacon of hope for the world, we were an unmilitarized non interventionist country that was respected by most nations on the earth, we have been reduced to corporate lapdogs to the USA and Europe, this is a SAD SAD development for this once proud nation.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
to # 2 poster, Canada produces much more than blackberry, the USA rapes this country of all it’s natural resources, HUGE amounts of lumber, gold, diamonds, now our large oil fields in western canada, we also produce alot of high tech equipment, we rank in top 3 world wide for mathematics, physics and other sciences. It is really sad that we were sold up the river by free trade and NAFTA which allows foreign corporations to buy up an unlimited amount of our natural resources. My country is run by master who pull their puppets strings just as your country is, so why don’t we all get of the self righteous kick and realize that as freedom loving people, we share a common goal to stop the ruining of our once proud nations by corporate greed and being sold out to the highest bidders, we are in this together, united we stand or divided we fall
December 4th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
“we have a much higher IQ average”
Wow soooo intellegent. A group cannot have “a much higher IQ average” because IQ score is based off the average. It is not about stupidity it is about evil.
December 4th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Amusing volley of insults and ignorance……does it matter who’s “smarter”..
..sorry had to close with something contentious..lol
at the end of the day, greed and polticial agendas govern both sides of the border..
that’s something I’m sure we can all agreed on…..that and the fact that CANADA produces the finest hockey players in the world
December 4th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
LMAO, i hate hockey anyways, and we don’t run around year round with squates and hockey sticks lol, like i said in my post, we are suffering from the same problem, we should set aside baseless differences and unite to usurp our elitist masters, they are the same people, that is why their newest front organizations (bilderberg) has it’s world headquaters in my nations capital Ottawa
December 4th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
i mispelled skates lmao
December 4th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Everyone should start carrying army canteens. Or better yet don’t go to any venue that doesn’t allow you to buy water. Screw them. Boycott every business in Toronto if you have to. This is preposterous.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
i was just saying gerr that we have been turning out people with higher IQ scores, so you can have a group of people who have a higher IQ average than another group, if group A all score between 125 and 135 and group B scores between 110 and 115, group A would then have a higher average than group B, I do agree, it’s not about intelligence, it’s about EVIL and we shouldn’t be fighting each other about non issues
December 4th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Build a home made still.
You cannot be arrested for distilling and removing chemicals in the tap water.
However you you use it to make moon shine they will get you.
Distilling your tap water removes 99% of the chemicals in it.
Plans are all over the internet on how to build a still and they are FREE!!!.
December 4th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
The real reason that bottled water is being banned is simply to increase sales of soda pop. It has nothing to do any reason that may have been publicly stated by the authorities.
The authorities would rather appear to be incompetent or even stupid rather than be perceived as dishonest.
It’s that simple folks; it’s that simple…
December 4th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
wow…that’s just ridiculous. If toronto is doing it, won’t be long before Edmonton is (where I live)…bunch of nimrods on city council here too
December 4th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
WOW, harper has disolved parliment until the end of the year, now that is bullshit, even if coalition government was forming
December 4th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Now just watch. Like the “one child policy” that started in China with a “penalty fee” to pay, it will later start spreading. BASTARD GLOBALISTS are now expanding their moves and the public is so IGNORANT to realize it (as I live here and I know). I hope they don’t far….
December 4th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Yup. Our world is fucked up the whole way around. If we didn’t have the internet, we wouldn’t know the half of it. I think I’ll go get me a drug habit. Maybe pretty soon they’ll ban aspirin and legalize heroine.
December 4th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I agree with mikey, bunch of nimrods on city council in edmonton.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Of all the places to find large collections of idiots…this must be the the tallest hive by far.
Amoeba have more sense!
I would buy plastic soda bottles and fill them with filtered water… No way I would voluntarily drink their tap poison.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Just preposterous and ridiculous. These people don’t deserve to be in places of authority for encouraging others to drink fluoridated water that is linked to all kinds of health problem.
According to the handbook, Clinical Toxicology of Commercial Products, fluoride is more
poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. It takes a while however to “kick in”.
It has been linked to cancers and is a component of rat poison. That’s what we’ve become perhaps – rats in an experiment.
Even though the plastics used for the bottles that bottled water comes in are not the healthiest. Drinking Ozonated natural spring water from a plastic water bottle is still better and healthier for a person than drinking fluoridated water that doesn’t even reduce cavities.
WRITE your councilmen and women. WRITE your newspapers and tell them about your displeasure with their decisions.
In the land of the true north strong and free, it seems to me that people should have a choice of what kind of water they want to drink.
December 5th, 2008 at 1:22 am
city council should bam itself for being bum…
December 5th, 2008 at 7:52 am
Much of the blame can be laid upon the shoulders of the fluoridically retarded mayor who thinks that if you close down a gun club frequented by 9 elderly retired cops that you have effectively taken a huge bite out of gun violence in the city. But he won’t be happy until all guns are made illegal. Then he believes all gun violence will end. You have to see this idiot in action, his I.Q. is extremely low. He doesn’t act normal at all. He wanders around the visitor’s gallery at city hall insulting other councilors and making excuses for himself while council is in session and he is supposed to be on the floor answering questions. How about another multi-dollar commission to find out how long it takes for a homeless person to freeze to death. This is the same city council that banned healthy food from being sold from carts on the street. Only hot dogs are allowed in Toronto. Salad, illegal.
December 5th, 2008 at 9:20 am
I tried to bring this to the attention of prisonplanet.com and infowars.com durring this summer as London, ON was the testing ground for this new law. At that time me and others like me desperatly scrambled to orginize against this proposal but we were ignored. The reasoning behind this law was explained to us as the need to reduce the amount of water bottle recycling. They say there are just too many bottles that arn’t getting recycled. City Hall (in London, ON) had numerous opportunitys to fix this recycling issue but made no move to do so…..I wonder who was pressuring them to set this up……
December 5th, 2008 at 10:11 am
if 25 is right about the mayor, then he is not stupid at all. he may be a genius, this guy sounds like an activist and its working. in his mind he’s just solving the problem. this water thing so blatant and backwards enough to be accepted, it’s crazy how that works. freezing homeless with a stop-watch,(exagerrating for effect) . in real life it sounds like he’s building his resume to submit to the bilderberg group.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Well they’re all just freak shows to tell the truth;
What do you suppose is behind, the real reason, why he banned water???
Oh it’s all just more sickness but at least we have here this these forums where we can attempt make sense to each other…
December 5th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Its things like this that drive me crazy, I have been watching this story with absolute horror. The city council is filled with a bunch of NWO puppets.
I better start stocking up on flouride free water now.
Also, for the rest if you Canadians out there, take heed, because they passed this law in my fair city, the biggest city in our country, be ready to have it on the table in every municipality soon.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:44 pm

Anyone stupid enough to live in Toronto already drank the “cool aid” long ago.
December 5th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
i am in germany with the US military for less than a year now and have seen too many things so far that are healthier than american stuff. the water system does not use fluoride and has no need for chlorine. the piping used in the water systems here are not old crappy cast iron or whatever else like in the states, but instead they use pvc and copper and this allows less germs or bacteria, or almost none, into the water. but on most of the military bases use water fluoridation and the germans are okay with that. my info i share from talking to someone involved in environmental. another thing i noticed that i think is an excelent idea relating to disposable containers is here the containers are returned, cleaned and re-used. soda bottles and beer bottles purchased as a case and then returned as a case, any accidently broken bottles can be melted down to be recycled, but in the states, all of the glass containers were smashed and melted down causing so much waste of energy when the containers should have been re-used. another neat thing here, or strange, is there are no landfills. thoroughly sorting of your trash is done here even as some americans here don’t always do a great job of because it is a pain in the ass to most people i think. then things that can’t be recycled, or things you would not want recycled such as tampons, to a turkey carcass or old shoes, are burned, not sure where, but burned. all over the world for so many years people have been buring all kinds of things, it is lees damaging to the environment as i was told, so i might be wrong. the germans have tax on a bunch of things, engine size is one of them. most people here have under a 2.0 liter engine size, i now have one, a euro spec honda 1.5 engine i think, and i am impressed, i now know i don’t need a big engine like i have always had since i started driving. if i need to go fast, i put the pedal down and get more power in the higher rpms, i can drive so much and spend a lot less on gas than what i was driving before (chevy truck) need i say more. i just thought that there are so many people out there that do not or never have traveled to other countries for whatever reasons, well here is a reason you could. with the job problem in the news, i wonder how many people never thought of getting a government job like some civilian americans here do and they live here doing okay. there are plenty of sources out there such as usjobs .com ,or ask around, but who to ask, ask military people if you are around any, some would know, mainly the ones getting out or retiring, or ask someone in the post office where to go for info on different government jobs, or contractor. but the best thing i found is to have a very strong financial education to protect yourself and family from money problems, and to prepare for whatever obama’s plan has to offer, but i don’t want to get into that here. learn good info on money from people like dave ramsey, robert kiyosaki, suzi or susi orman or ormann, to start. but anyway back on the subject of water, if good drinking water is important to you, look at the health nut sites out there, some are good. i think there is one of these, or most likely both that discuss drinking water and have very good products too, mercola.com and jon barron .org or com, i forget. it is your body, take care of it.
December 5th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
put in a water tank, roof water diverts into a tank, even if it is only as large as a 220 litre drum, there are ways to divert the first couple of litres to run any build up on the roof ie chemicals and bird do do,plant those potatoes people ,so that when ‘it hits the fan’you will have a growing stash of food,if you don’t plant then tin food only lasts so long…..
December 6th, 2008 at 2:34 am
TO used to be such an Uppity Hip intellectual kind of place but it sounds like its just another dumbed-out mega-city in the new Zombie nation. One thing Ive always noticed when in Toronto is that it has to be the most heavily chemtrailed city I’ve seen. Add that to a ban on pure clean water and its no wonder Toronto’s politicians have reached this apathetic level of dumbness.
December 6th, 2008 at 9:38 am
It’s sad to know people are readily accepting such laws made by governments. Is the council that stupid or is it just another way for the soda companies to make profit. Are only the soda companies laughing their way to the bank or the council members are too in on this? I can’t help but ask myself these questions. I don’t live there, have never been there but if at all i do come there I would like to drink bottled water. Alas we are slaves !!!!
December 6th, 2008 at 11:00 am
In other words: Natural is illegal, but man-made is legal.
December 6th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Water sold in city buildings while an interesting topic, is not really at the top of the agenda as we now have some type of dictatorship here. No more democratic voting in the parliament of Canada. Pm office shut down the govt because they were gonna lose a vote to the majority libs. Now the “defeated” pc govt seized control until jan 27 to do as they wish with our country and people. They have no legitamite claim to power as they only got 35% of the vote the other 65% were about to toss them out. Stopping the govt and locking out our representatives just to keep power and control over our tax funds for 8 weeks. We are in a dire crisis and it just got worse, neocons destroyed the usa and are now creating a banana republic here. Destabilization is in progress and we are truly fuked. Prepare yourself for anarchy.
December 6th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
We really enjoy having you Americans calling our leaders stupid. Instead of trying to tell the rest of the world how to live why don”t you clean up the mess in your own country.
December 6th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
At 55 years old I have lived in Toronto all my life. The current ” I know better then you”, city executive is the worst this city has ever had. It’s run by an in-circle of wick, wick, nudge, nudge, controlling fanatics that want to take away all the freedoms of it’s citizens. No aspect of our daily life’s will not be left unturned or spy-ed a pond.
December 8th, 2008 at 1:20 am
wow.. thats horrible.
December 8th, 2008 at 6:34 am
NEWS ALERT
Michael Ignatieff is the NEW NWO pawn leader in the present coo in Canada.
This is a posting of his believes from world lecture format.
HIS speach; (The Lesser Evil approach)
Read and you be the judge.
Ignatieff has argued that Western democracies may have to resort to “lesser evils” like indefinite detention of suspects, coercive interrogations,[23] targeted assassinations, and pre-emptive wars in order to combat the greater evil of terrorism. He states that as a result, societies should strengthen their democratic institutions to keep these necessary evils from becoming as offensive to freedom and democracy as the threats they are meant to prevent.[24] In the context of this “lesser evil” analysis, Ignatieff discusses whether or not liberal democracies should employ coercive interrogation and torture. The ‘Lesser Evil’ approach has been criticized by some prominent human rights advocates, like Conor Gearty, for incorporating a problematic form of moral language that can used to legitimize forms of torture.[25] But other human rights advocates, like Human Rights Watch’s Kenneth Roth, have defended Ignatieff, saying his work attempts a difficult balance between competing values.[26] Ignatieff has adamantly maintained that he supports a complete ban on torture.[27]

With all this talk about civil unrest- fight the government talk… One question: What side are you on? Really who are we going to fight, to get this world back to normal. How are you going to know you is bad and who is good?
This story along with the one that the FDA claims that babies can eat small amounts of plastic is safe…WTF. Are you kidding me, What the world needs is a good enama…let clean out the bad toxins is this world. We need to start over and and make EVERYONE’s lifs better.
So ask yourself: How are we to know who is the bad people, and HOW do we get rid of them?

The Government is out to LUNCH.
