Toyota is recalling hundreds of thousands of Prius hybrid models around the world due to braking problems in the latest blow to the troubled carmaker.
Around 436,000 vehicles could be affected, including nearly 7,000 sold in Britain since the model was launched in August and 52,903 in Europe.
The decision comes after US safety officials launched an investigation into reported delays in activating the brakes. The problem is understood to have been reported by one driver in Britain.
The issue is the latest safety scare for Toyota, which is already trying to fix problems in millions of vehicles recalled for other defects, including a sticky accelerator pedal.
