Orlando Gunman Arrested After Office Shooting Spree; 1 Dead, 6 Injured

Police in the US have arrested a gunman who opened fire on employees in an office complex in Florida today, reportedly killing two and injuring six.
People inside the Gateway Centre in downtown Orlando were said to have barricaded themselves behind closed doors, while others streamed out of the block.
Local reports suggested at least two office workers died in the rampage.
Orlando Police Sergeant Barbara Jones confirmed there had been multiple injuries, but could not say how many people had been hurt or give details of their wounds.

The suspect was named as Jason Rodriguez, a 40-year-old former employee of a company based at the centre. Police released his picture to media outlets and warned the public that he was still on the loose and armed.
It is believed that victims were shot on a number of floors of the office complex.
A commando unit were on the scene attempting to evacuate workers trapped in the building.
A spokesman for the firm, Reynolds, Smith & Hills, confirmed that Rodriguez had been an employee of the company based at the Gateway Centre. But he was sacked two years ago after performance- related issues.

There are about 1 million who lost their jobs when the depression started two years ago who have not found job and who no longer receive unemployment. They are living their foreclosed homes with no food in their cabinets or money in their pockets. To eat and keep their water and electric on the depend on family who help, but not without first treating them like shit for having asked. The government and people like you call them discouraged workers blaming them saying they need to try harder to find work, they need to better them selves. As though the reason they can’t find jobs is because of their failings and not be cause of the failings of wall street bankers and brokers.

I’m wholly empathetic to AND personally affected by the terrible employment situation. Blaming others who might be one bankrupt client away from losing THEIR jobs, and then somehow feeling entitled because of your current situation to unload bullets into unsuspecting others who probably also have growing family is wrong. All I’m talking about is taking personal responsibility for yourself (start effing rowing, hard) and maybe use your brain and attempt to start up a new business and try to not only to employ yourself, but create work for others. Going postal can’t be justified. It’s murder. Character and backbone definitely come into play when things get tough, but that’s what Americans are best at. Whining doesn’t ever move a person forward. I do agree that accountable justice for financial wranglings must be meted, and financial regulations will have to be overhauled to prevent another greedy free-for-all.
