Protesters in London smash a Starbucks, throw shoes at Israeli embassy
A London protest against the Israeli military campaign in Gaza turned violent Saturday night as police charged demonstrators outside the gates of Israel’s embassy.
It was one of the largest of many, many demonstrations across Europe on Saturday. Protests in Paris, France also turned violent.
One police officer was knocked unconscious and two were injured in the fray, according to The London Paper. An estimated 300 police in riot gear charged protesters as the crowd chanted “free, free Palestine,” hurling hundreds of shoes over a police barrier in front of the embassy.
Tensions continued to rise as the crowd found more objects to hurl — signs, eggs, red paint, barriers, rocks, etc. — until police began efforts to disperse the demonstrators.
Protesters smashed and destroyed a Starbucks, and the Daily Mail that others tried to set police vehicles on fire.reported
The Daily Mail also published a striking series of photos from the protest.
London police told BBC that just 20,000 people were involved in the protest, but BBC estimated 50,000. The London Paper gave a figure twice that, claiming over 100,000 joined the demonstration.
“We want the British government to take a much stronger position,” said Lindsey German, an organizer with protest group ‘Stop the War,’ in a BBC report. “There would have been outrage from governments around the world if this had happened anywhere else – the condemnation has been at best half-hearted.”
“The British government and European Union have the economic leverage to stop this carnage,” said Ken Livingstone, the former mayor of London, in a prepared statement. “They must take decisive action to force Israel to end the slaughter.”
Protests ripple across Europe
About 30,000 people marched through Paris, the interior ministry said, and more than 90,000 joined protests in more than 120 towns and cities elsewhere in France.
In the capital, thousands of French men and women of Arab origin carrying Palestinian banners joined forces with left-wing militants amid cries of “Allahu Akbar” (God is Greater) and “Israel murderer.”
Protesters smashed a bus shelter and a telephone box in central Paris, and bottles were later thrown at riot police and shop windows smashed.

Police fired teargas after mobs overturned motor scooters and set them on fire.
A march in the southern city of Nice descended into violence. Seven police were hurt and 11 rioters arrested as youths broke off from a 2,500-strong crowd of protesters and smashed shop windows.
Demonstrations took place on the streets of other European cities including Athens, Berlin, Budapest, Oslo, Sarajevo and Stockholm.
In Sarajevo, peace activist Svetlana Broz told a 1,000-strong pro-Palestinian demonstration that the city knew better than others “what happens when the world remains silent at a time when innocent civilians suffer”, referring to the bloody siege of the city in the 1992-95 war in the former Yugoslavia.
Police in Oslo fired teargas after a small group among a crowd of 2,000 pelted them with stones, and up to 5,000 demonstrators gathered outside the Israeli embassy in Stockholm to call for an end to the military campaign.
More than 6,000 people gathered for a peaceful rally in Berlin, with similar shows of support for the Palestinians in Munich and Cologne.
In western Germany, some 10,000 people, largely from the ethnic Turkish community, protested in Duisburg. Police briefly intervened when demonstrators threw snowballs at a window bearing two Israeli flags.
Innsbruck in western Austria staged a peaceful protest of 3,500 people waving banners saying “Stop Israeli terror” and 7,000 protesters turned out in Bern, Switzerland.
In Athens, more than 2,000 people took part in a protest staged by left-wing groups and thousands demonstrated in Milan and Turin.
A rally is planned in Madrid on Sunday, while a pro-Israeli demonstration is scheduled to take place in London.

Thousands of Canadians joined demonstrators around the world Saturday in a series of heated protests against Israel’s offensive in Gaza, with scuffles and arrests reported in several European cities.
Outside the Israeli Consulate in Toronto, police estimated about 2,000 people gathered in frigid weather to condemn the Israeli attacks, while a smaller group of pro-Israeli demonstrators made their presence known behind a police barricade.

In Vancouver, hundreds of people gathered in the pouring rain in front of the city’s art gallery, where the protest spilled on to a downtown street and stopped traffic.
Protesters waved placards and chanted “Free Gaza” as speakers condemned Israel.
Scores of marches were held across France. The biggest was in Paris, where an estimated 30,000 people took part and scuffles with police were reported.
In Washington, hundreds rallied near the White House and the hotel of president-elect Barack Obama to demand an end to the Israeli military campaign.
Israel says its two-week-old offensive is intended to stop the Hamas militant group from launching rocket attacks on southern Israel. Medical officials say more than 800 Palestinians have been killed.
Thirteen Israelis, most of them soldiers, have also been killed since the conflict began on Dec. 27.
Protesters burned Israeli flags in Sweden and threw shoes at the U.S. Consulate in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In Innsbruck, Austria, volunteer security personnel arranged by the Islamist organizers of a demonstration moved quickly to surround and protect an elderly man after he suddenly unrolled an Israeli flag in the middle of the protest.
A crowd of 12,000 gathered in London’s Hyde Park carrying placards marked “Gaza: Stop the massacre” and chanting, “Free, free Palestine.”
In Italy, several thousand people carrying Palestinian flags marched in Milan, Florence and Venice to protest the Israeli offensive.
Hezbollah organizes Lebanon protest
In Milan, protesters burned a white sheet with the Star of David on it and some participants carried posters with the Israeli flag and a swastika on them, the ANSA news agency reported.
In Germany, some 8,500 people rallied in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz and then marched to the city’s main train station. Hundreds of police were deployed along the route and several Hamas flags were confiscated from the protesters. No serious incidents were reported, however, police said.
In the western German city of Duisburg, 10,000 marched.
“We want to show our solidarity with the victims in the Gaza Strip and signal our opposition to the oppression and violence in Gaza,” said organizer Engin Karahan.
Nearly 20,000 people marched through the southern Lebanese town Nabatiyeh in a protest organized by Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas that fought its own 34-day conflict with Israel in the summer of 2006.
In Norway, police used tear gas to try to disperse at least 1,000 protesters after some hurled bottles, rocks and fired fireworks at officers. Two people were injured and two were taken into custody, said Oslo police spokeswoman Unni Groendal.

Of course —you understand— this whole ‘event’ against the Gaza strip is intended to produce the sufficient ~necessary~ response from Iran’s press of outrage against the attack on the Palestinians, such as to provide Israel the necessary pretext to attack Iran’s nuclear installations.

The =ONLY= thing which will prevent any further mess, is for that whole region to disappear under the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and to never again to be seen above waters by the eyes of man.

it was a peaceful protest, even at the embassy – the overwhelming police presence blocked off the crowd and charged them, arresting people as scapegoats. then they kept us there for ages so that people were less motivated to go the following week. on the 10th there were 100,000 protestors. on the 17th just 50,000. a small minority were resisting the police thats all. starbucks got smashed and looted because it gives money to israel. simple.

@1000 people demonstrated in the Australian capital Canberra, they marched on the Israeli embassy, blocked by security baracades of course, hurling shoes, bricks and projectiles at the embassy, burning Iraeli flags and smashing many a window of the embassy. They left the embassy looking like the redfern getto (suburb of sydney), scrawled with anti-facist graffiti, many more protests in the works.

We need to start a well known chant against anarchists, so that whenever anarchists try to cause problems, the peaceful demonstrators chant something like:
“Down with the anarchists”
“Peaceful protest”
“Down with the infiltrators”
“Peaceful Protest”
“Up with the Patriots”
“Peaceful Protest”
Then, and with video coverage, they would be neutralized, and we would be free to march on all of the Capitals and make change happen.

I agree largely with what you say re: the racism bred within some Jewish communities.
There are gentle Jews out there though who condemn such racism and are anti-Israeli, the latter point of course which the world media has been reporting recently.
I firmly believe, and history supports this, that the Zionists are waiting for the day to exact revenge on the West(and the elites of the West know this) as they have openly admitted that they do not even forgive the ancestors of some tribes of Arabia who committed atrocities against Jews over 1000 years ago, so how can they ever forgive the West for the atrocities committed during the Inquisition and World War 2!
The Israeli Government has some sort of paranoia that the world is blaming them (check Al-Jazeera’s interview with Israeli’s Foreign Minister today re:Israel’s alleged use of White Phosperous in civilian areas in Gaza) for all the atrocities committed in the Arab world but they always say the West(Canada, USA, UK etc) support them and allow the legal use of particular weopens during war.

With regards to the protests the innocent Israelis are waking up to the fact that their government is being far too heavy handed in their approach to weakening Hamas and killing and hurting innocent civilians! Just heard this on Al-Jazeera two minutes ago!
Oh and I also believe not all Israelis are revengeful and carry the wrath of the Zionist elite and their cronies! I would like things to be as peacefull as the next guy but i don’t think that will work.

The silence of the American media is damning – if there is any doubt about how biased the American news is, well, there should be no doubt now.
But even if the media were to accurately portray the assault on Gaza, the American masses wouldn’t have the conceptual tools needed to make the right connections. And if they somehow did, they’d not have the vigor or gumption to go and do something about it.

As Israel persists in its military efforts — by ground, air and sea — to protect its citizens from deadly Hamas rockets, and as protests against Israel increase around the world, the success of the abominable Hamas double war crime strategy becomes evident. The strategy is as simple as it is cynical: Provoke Israel by playing Russian roulette with its children, firing rockets at kindergartens, playgrounds and hospitals; hide behind its own civilians when firing at Israeli civilians; refuse to build bunkers for its own civilians; have TV cameras ready to transmit every image of dead Palestinians, especially children; exaggerate the number of civilians killed by including as “children” Hamas fighters who are 16 or 17 years old and as “women,” female terrorists.
Hamas itself has a name for this. They call it “the CNN strategy” (this is not to criticize CNN or any other objective news source for doing its job; it is to criticize Hamas for exploiting the freedom of press which it forbids in Gaza). The CNN strategy is working because decent people all over the world are naturally sickened by images of dead and injured children. When they see such images repeatedly flashed across TV screens, they tend to react emotionally. Rather than asking why these children are dying and who is to blame for putting them in harm’s way, average viewers, regardless of their political or ideological perspective, want to see the killing stopped. They blame those whose weapons directly caused the deaths, rather than those who provoked the violence by deliberately targeting civilians.
They forget the usual rules of morality and law. For example, when a murderer takes a hostage and fires from behind his human shield, and a policeman, in an effort to stop the shooting accidentally kills the hostage, the law of every country holds the hostage taker guilty of murder even though the policeman fired the fatal shot.
The same is true of the law of war. The use of human shields, in the way Hamas uses the civilian population of Gaza, is a war crime — as is its firing of rockets at Israeli civilians. Every human shield that is killed by Israeli self-defence measures is the responsibility of Hamas, but you wouldn’t know that from watching the media coverage.
The CNN strategy seems to work better, at least in some parts of the world, against Israel that it would against other nations. There is much more protest — and fury — directed against Israel when it inadvertently kills approximately 100 civilians in a just war of self-defence, than against Arab and Muslim nations and groups that deliberately kill far more civilians for no legitimate reason.
It isn’t the nature of the victims, since more Arabs and Muslim civilians are killed every day in Africa and the Middle East by Arab and Muslim governments and groups with little or no protests.
(For example, on the first day of Israel’s ground attack, approximately 30 Palestinians,
almost all Hamas combatants, were killed. On the same day an Islamic suicide bomber blew herself up in a mosque in Iraq, killing 40 innocent Muslims. No protests. Little media coverage.) It isn’t the nature of the killings, since Israel goes to extraordinary lengths to avoid killing civilians — if for no other reason than that it hurts its cause — while Hamas does everything in its power to force Israel to kill Palestinian civilians by firing its missiles from densely populated civilian areas and refusing to build shelters for its civilians.
It isn’t the nature of the conflict, either, because Israel is fighting a limited war of self-defence designed to protect its own civilians from rocket attacks, while most of those killed by Arabs and Muslims are killed in genocidal and tribal warfare with no legitimate aim.
The world simply doesn’t seem to care when Arabs and Muslims kill large numbers of other Arabs and Muslims, but a qualitatively different standard applies when the Jewish state kills even a relatively small number of Muslims and Arabs in a war of self-defence.
The international community doesn’t even seem to care when Palestinian children are killed by rocket fire — unless it is from Israeli rockets. The day before the recent outbreak, Hamas fired an anti-personnel rocket at Israeli civilians, but the rocket fell short of its target and killed two Palestinian girls. Yet there was virtually no coverage and absolutely no protests against these “collateral” civilian deaths. Hamas refused to allow TV cameras to show these dead Palestinian children.
Nor have there been protests against the cold-blooded murders by Hamas and its supporters of dozens of Palestinian civilians who allegedly “collaborated” with Israel.
Indeed, Hamas and Fatah have killed far more Palestinian civilians over the past several
years than have the Israelis, but you wouldn’t know that from the media, the United Nations or protesters who focus selectively on only those deaths caused by Israeli military actions.
The protesters who filled the streets of London, Paris and San Francisco were nowhere to be seen when hundreds of Jewish children were murdered by Palestinian terrorists over the years.
Moreover, the number of civilians killed by Israel is almost always exaggerated. First, it is widely assumed that if a victim is a “child” or a “woman,” he or she is necessarily a civilian. Consider the following report in Thursday’s New York Times: “Hospital officials in Gaza said that of the more than 390 people killed by Israeli fighter planes since Saturday, 38 were children and 25 women.
” Some of these children and women were certainly civilians, but others were equally certainly combatants:
Hamas often uses 14-, 15-, 16-and 17-year-olds, as well as women, as terrorists. Israel is entitled under international law to treat these children and women as the combatants they have become. Hamas cannot, out of one side of its mouth, boast that it recruits children and women to become terrorists, and then, out of the other side of its mouth, complain when Israel takes it at its word. The media should look closely and critically at the number of claimed civilian victims before accepting self-serving and self-contradictory exaggerations.
By any objective count, the number of genuinely innocent civilians killed by the Israeli Air Force in Gaza is lower than the collateral deaths caused by any nation in a comparable situation. Hamas does everything in its power to provoke Israel into killing as many Palestinian civilians as possible, in order to generate condemnation against the Jewish state. It has gone so far as firing rockets from Palestinian schoolyards and hiding its terrorists in Palestinian maternity wards.
Lest there be any doubt about the willingness of Hamas officials to expose their families to martyrdom, remember that the Hamas terrorist leader recently killed in an Israeli air attack sent his own son to be a suicide bomber. He also refused to allow his family to leave the house, even after learning that he and his house has been placed on the a of Israeli military targets.
The reality is that the elected and de facto government of Gaza has declared war against Israel. Under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, it has committed an “armed attack” against the Jewish state. The Hamas charter calls for Israel’s total destruction. Under international law, Israel is entitled to take whatever military action is necessary to repel that attack and stop the rockets.
It must seek to minimize civilian deaths consistent with the legitimate military goal, and it is doing precisely that, despite Hamas’s efforts to maximize civilian deaths on both sides.

I spent almost 4 hours at a demonstration yesterday in the rain with about 200 people, split into a group that planned the PEACEFUL demonstration, and one group of Jewish people.
All the best and worst of humanity was on display.
It is amazing how many Jewish people I met who sounded like they were reading your list over and over. They were NOT there to listen, they were there to control the message.
I found a few Jews who were there to support “their side” but were open minded enough to convince me that they felt genuine sadness for the Palestinians and some degree of shame and anger over the actions of their government and military. We shook hands and hugged, it was nice.
Often there were heated discussions featuring both reasonable people and angry extremists.
One Jewish woman was extremely upset that people “hated Jews” and it was all a lack of understanding etc. I tried to explain to her that actions create responses and while she was quick to hold Palestinians “accountable” for their crimes, she seem indignant that anyone should dare to judge her people for their actions.
She told me I was always a Jew hater, spewed some venom and tried to stare me down.
I told her I went to my first peace march in 1971, I marched in earth day celebrations in the 1980’s, and a few South Africa demonstrations too. I marched against both Iraq and Afghanistan wars about a dozen times……but NEVER never once had I ever gone out and marched against Israel. Then I got real close to her face and told her if I had met her 20 years ago I would have been marching against Israel from that day forward.
I told her that for 20 years I was one of the regular non aligned white folks who could be considered a friend of Jews.
I asked her how her grandparents would feel if they saw her out defending Nazi like behavior and helping to sow the hatred of her people. I told her as a Canadian, I look down on her, I see her as less than me, as a violent ignorant poor example of an evolved human being. In short, I viewed her as she viewed Palestinians.
She started to cry, and I was happy.
When I got home I was ashamed, and realized that many good people went to that demonstration with all sorts of intentions. I went to help and failed.
Eventually I was able to re-focus on the cool Jews I met and hugged that day, and forgot about the nasty hate filled bitch.
Hate and anger are contagious, and they spread more easily than love. It took me a while to shake off the residual hatred from the arrogant bitch.

These charges were verified by UN Observers on December 19, 2008, 8 days before Israel attacked. Therefore Charter 51 does not apply to Israel’s actions.

In Stockholm they said protests were peaceful on the news. But then I found out 5000 people marched to the Israel embassy when a small group broke out of the demonstration line and tried to storm the Israel embassy. After a short free-for-all the police calmed the situation down, three demonstrators were hurt.

I can’t speak for these people, but my guess is that some of them are going ballistic over the BBC broadcast that UN has had to stop med and food aid because their workers are being targeted and that they found starving children. The BBC had a broadcast to that effect. Plus the number of civilian casualties is so high that the argument that if Mexico were to send rockets over….that doesn’t wash with a lot of people, considering what I’ve read on the internet. For example, there have been situations within the US in the 70s and 80s where people wouldn’t drive through certain areas of cities due to snipers, but that didn’t make the government go in and kill huge numbers of people there. So, my guess is that people are outraged and passionate about this. I would even go so far as to guess that some people in the protests have had their own family members killed. These are all guesses on my part. I think that if food and medicine were allowed in or if a single boat could get through, then you could expect less passionate responses. I read that an Iranian boat was on its way, but have not come across anything to say that it made it. Did they just give up? Also, I wonder how long till all the people starve there? The end result of that (regarding protests) would be intense rioting. Again, I’m not any expert on anything, but passionate responses could be expected. Look at the rioting in Oakland California. That wasn’t peaceful but an event was followed by a violent response.

Nearly seventy years ago, in the course of World War II, a heinous crime was committed in the city of Leningrad. And that is what is decisive, in the end.
War every war is the realm of lies. Whether called propaganda or psychological warfare, everybody accepts that it is right to lie for one’s country. Anyone who speaks the truth runs the risk of being branded a traitor.
The trouble is that propaganda is most convincing for the propagandist himself. And after you convince yourself that a lie is the truth and falsification reality, you can no longer make rational decisions.
An example of this process surrounds the most shocking atrocity of this war so far: the shelling of the UN Fakhura school in Jabaliya refugee camp.
Immediately after the incident became known throughout the world, the army “revealed” that Hamas fighters had been firing mortars from near the school entrance. As proof they released an aerial photo which indeed showed the school and the mortar. But within a short time the official army liar had to admit that the photo was more than a year old. In brief: a falsification.
Later the official liar claimed that “our soldiers were shot at from inside the school”. Barely a day passed before the army had to admit to UN personnel that that was a lie, too. Nobody had shot from inside the school, no Hamas fighters were inside the school, which was full of terrified refugees.
But the admission made hardly any difference anymore. By that time, the Israeli public was completely convinced that “they shot from inside the school”, and TV announcers stated this as a simple fact.
So it went with the other atrocities. Every baby metamorphosed, in the act of dying, into a Hamas terrorist. Every bombed mosque instantly became a Hamas base, every apartment building an arms cache, every school a terror command post, every civilian government building a “symbol of Hamas rule”. Thus the Israeli army retained its purity as the “most moral army in the world”.

I wish there was a movement here in America. All of the news stations are near SILENT on the Gaza holocaust and when they do speak of it, it puts all of the blame on Gaza and the Palestinians. I am sick and disgusted with my country and its masses of dumbed down sheep. But there are many in the flock that have unplugged themselves from this matrix and have woken up to the injustice in our country, and when the time comes, we WILL stand strong and fight against the NWO with all of our might no matter how strong the police are. Such pigheadedness is akin to trying to hold back the tide; it never stops and it never will until such a position is exposed for what it is and the people behind it for who they are.

The strategy is as simple as it is cynical: Provoke Israel by playing Russian roulette with its children, firing rockets at kindergartens, playgrounds and hospitals; hide behind its own civilians when firing at Israeli civilians; refuse to build bunkers for its own civilians; have TV cameras ready to transmit every image of dead Palestinians, especially children; exaggerate the number of civilians killed by including as “children” Hamas fighters who are 16 or 17 years old and as “women,” female terrorists.
Hamas itself has a name for this. They call it “the CNN strategy” (this is not to criticize CNN or any other objective news source for doing its job; it is to criticize Hamas for exploiting the freedom of press which it forbids in Gaza). The CNN strategy is working because decent people all over the world are naturally sickened by images of dead and injured children. When they see such images repeatedly flashed across TV screens, they tend to react emotionally. Rather than asking why these children are dying and who is to blame for putting them in harm’s way, average viewers, regardless of their political or ideological perspective, want to see the killing stopped. They blame those whose weapons directly caused the deaths, rather than those who provoked the violence by deliberately targeting civilians.
They forget the usual rules of morality and law. For example, when a murderer takes a hostage and fires from behind his human shield, and a policeman, in an effort to stop the shooting accidentally kills the hostage, the law of every country holds the hostage taker guilty of murder even though the policeman fired the fatal shot.
The same is true of the law of war. The use of human shields, in the way Hamas uses the civilian population of Gaza, is a war crime — as is its firing of rockets at Israeli civilians. Every human shield that is killed by Israeli self-defence measures is the responsibility of Hamas, but you wouldn’t know that from watching the media coverage.
The CNN strategy seems to work better, at least in some parts of the world, against Israel that it would against other nations. There is much more protest — and fury — directed against Israel when it inadvertently kills approximately 100 civilians in a just war of self-defence, than against Arab and Muslim nations and groups that deliberately kill far more civilians for no legitimate reason.
It isn’t the nature of the victims, since more Arabs and Muslim civilians are killed every day in Africa and the Middle East by Arab and Muslim governments and groups with little or no protests.
(For example, on the first day of Israel’s ground attack, approximately 30 Palestinians,
almost all Hamas combatants, were killed. On the same day an Islamic suicide bomber blew herself up in a mosque in Iraq, killing 40 innocent Muslims. No protests. Little media coverage.) It isn’t the nature of the killings, since Israel goes to extraordinary lengths to avoid killing civilians — if for no other reason than that it hurts its cause — while Hamas does everything in its power to force Israel to kill Palestinian civilians by firing its missiles from densely populated civilian areas and refusing to build shelters for its civilians.
It isn’t the nature of the conflict, either, because Israel is fighting a limited war of self-defence designed to protect its own civilians from rocket attacks, while most of those killed by Arabs and Muslims are killed in genocidal and tribal warfare with no legitimate aim.
The world simply doesn’t seem to care when Arabs and Muslims kill large numbers of other Arabs and Muslims, but a qualitatively different standard applies when the Jewish state kills even a relatively small number of Muslims and Arabs in a war of self-defence.
The international community doesn’t even seem to care when Palestinian children are killed by rocket fire — unless it is from Israeli rockets. The day before the recent outbreak, Hamas fired an anti-personnel rocket at Israeli civilians, but the rocket fell short of its target and killed two Palestinian girls. Yet there was virtually no coverage and absolutely no protests against these “collateral” civilian deaths. Hamas refused to allow TV cameras to show these dead Palestinian children.
Nor have there been protests against the cold-blooded murders by Hamas and its supporters of dozens of Palestinian civilians who allegedly “collaborated” with Israel.
Indeed, Hamas and Fatah have killed far more Palestinian civilians over the past several
years than have the Israelis, but you wouldn’t know that from the media, the United Nations or protesters who focus selectively on only those deaths caused by Israeli military actions.
The protesters who filled the streets of London, Paris and San Francisco were nowhere to be seen when hundreds of Jewish children were murdered by Palestinian terrorists over the years.
Moreover, the number of civilians killed by Israel is almost always exaggerated. First, it is widely assumed that if a victim is a “child” or a “woman,” he or she is necessarily a civilian. Consider the following report in Thursday’s New York Times: “Hospital officials in Gaza said that of the more than 390 people killed by Israeli fighter planes since Saturday, 38 were children and 25 women.
” Some of these children and women were certainly civilians, but others were equally certainly combatants:
Hamas often uses 14-, 15-, 16-and 17-year-olds, as well as women, as terrorists. Israel is entitled under international law to treat these children and women as the combatants they have become. Hamas cannot, out of one side of its mouth, boast that it recruits children and women to become terrorists, and then, out of the other side of its mouth, complain when Israel takes it at its word. The media should look closely and critically at the number of claimed civilian victims before accepting self-serving and self-contradictory exaggerations.
By any objective count, the number of genuinely innocent civilians killed by the Israeli Air Force in Gaza is lower than the collateral deaths caused by any nation in a comparable situation. Hamas does everything in its power to provoke Israel into killing as many Palestinian civilians as possible, in order to generate condemnation against the Jewish state. It has gone so far as firing rockets from Palestinian schoolyards and hiding its terrorists in Palestinian maternity wards.
Lest there be any doubt about the willingness of Hamas officials to expose their families to martyrdom, remember that the Hamas terrorist leader recently killed in an Israeli air attack sent his own son to be a suicide bomber. He also refused to allow his family to leave the house, even after learning that he and his house has been placed on the a of Israeli military targets.
The reality is that the elected and de facto government of Gaza has declared war against Israel. Under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, it has committed an “armed attack” against the Jewish state. The Hamas charter calls for Israel’s total destruction. Under international law, Israel is entitled to take whatever military action is necessary to repel that attack and stop the rockets.
It must seek to minimize civilian deaths consistent with the legitimate military goal, and it is doing precisely that, despite Hamas’s efforts to maximize civilian deaths on both sides.

A jewish counter protester was jailed for spiting on a protester in Houston on Friday. I am sure it will not make the Houston Chronicle or any other news outlet. Otherwise, the protest in Houston have been peaceful.
I was told that some provocateurs have been spotted in the crowd on Friday. They are trying to provoke the Palestinians. I have no problem with anyone who is peaceful – but people have to realize that there are people who will try to provoke especially when Palestinians who are protesting have lost family members.
I encourage you are to work in solidarity with the protesters. It is so beautiful when we can all come together. I saw a Native American at a protest beating drums and burning incense, the ceremony was so touching. They were beating to the chants in the back group.
Our politicians won’t do a thing even if every person in Gaza is murdered. Congress recently drafted up a resolution to support the Israelis “right to defend themselves.”
The body passed Friday’s resolution “recognizing Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza” by 390 votes to five.
The measure also noted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza “is becoming more acute” but did not rebuke Israel.
They passed a similar resolution in 2006 during the Lebanon brutal campaign against the Lebanese.
When people see their government as puppets of the U.S. do you expect them not to support groups like Hizbollah and Hamas? All the Palestinians have to do is stop firing rockets on Israeli citizens as they have been doing the past 8 years or so and then Israel would not be a problem. Listen world I know a lot of you are anti Jewish including Alex Jones it would seem to an extent but if you put yourself in the Israeli’s situation I would expect you would do no different. Alex Jones loves his family and he is a hyprcritical liar if he expects me to believe that he would condemn Israel if it were his children living in Israel right now having rockets fired at random for the past several years.

It’s getting late where I am but I can’t let such an ignorant post go by without a reply.
Hamas firing rockets is not, I repeat, not the reason for these attacks from Israel. That is the cover story.
I suggest you read some of the more informative and researched postings on this issue. Israel has always had the capacity to neutralize Hamas. They choose not to because it suits their wider purpose – the systematic reduction of Palestinian population and territorial growth. Given the respective birth rates of the two peoples, Israel knows that within 5-7 years, at most, there will be more Palestinians than Israelis, combined, in both the Occupied Territories and Israel. Within 10 years fully 50% of Israel itself will be comprised of Palestinians.
In order to prevent this, Israel has deliberately embarked on a policy of “selective extermination”. First, they continue to build settlements despite years of UN demands not to do so. This gradually shrinks the available land for Palestinians thereby leaving them with only two options: leave or have smaller famalies. A third option is to keep growing as a people and as a result live in increasingly squalid conditions due to overcrowding.
Second, Israel engages in provocative attacks against Palestinian territories such as punitive raids, air strikes and naval blockades, that force the hand of Hamas and other such groups to counter with rocket attacks that are, a best, a nuisance rather than a serious threat.
From 2001-2008 3,702 rocket attacks and 3,943 mortar attacks have killed 15 Israelis and injured 433. Combined, that is 955 attacks per year, 80 per month, 2 per day and a kill ratio of 0.19%. Such statistics in no way constitute a threat so dire it justifies the attacks on Gaza or other such military measures. Israel’s infant mortality rate is nearly seven times greater than the mortality rate of all Israelis killed by all the weapons fired by Hamas at Israel for the past eight years.
Israel will continue to rely on grossly misleading and false propaganda regarding the “threat” posed by Hamas and its’ “lethal” rocket attacks to cover up its’ real intentions. Perhaps now you realize that this conflict goes way beyond the political and media-manufactured stories.
Just to give you a comparison of civilian and military deaths in Gaza with the statistics mentioned above, in the past 16 days the Israeli attack on Gaza has killed an estimated 800 Palestinians and wounded over 3,000 (1,000 of which are children). That is 50 deaths and 187 injured per day (62 of them children)).
In other words, within the first 7 hours of Israel’s attack on Gaza as many Palestinians were killed as Israelis in 8 years of Hamas rocket attacks – something to think long and hard on, dont you believe? Any sane person would realize that this is not a “war” but an extermination.
