Greg: You are completely wrong. These cameras were installed to reduce crime. The folks at the USC must be stupid. A study was already conducted in Baltimore over 2 years ago with the same results. Waste of money. I guess this is one of the reasons that California is almost bankrupt.

These cameras are not intended to reduce crime but rather increase prosecutions by providing additional evidence. Would we want to replace the cameras with 24 hour coverage by police officers? Imagine the costs. I don’t like the cameras either but if someone hurts a member of my family and the criminal can be identified by these means then I’m all for it. Just like with guns – it’s not the tool that is evil but those who use them in an evil manner.

no difference with camaras? we start to have the same problems with big brother in germany but sorry this headline doesn’t do any good! it’s no different from any other headline in general media which states the exact opposite. you might just as well be let on like all the fools who think they should give up thair freedom for safty that is and forever will be myth.

I considered placing video surveillance to protect my own property.
When I realized there is no place on my property to place a camera
that would not invade the privacy of my neighbors I decided that I
prefer my neighbors to be on my side and they are all more than
happy to keep an eye on my property for me. Neighborhood watch
is way more effective than intrusive privacy robbing Big Brother cams.

they don’t deter crime eh ? even if there were big signs on all the big bro lenses saying “you are being video taped” 50% of the morons in this country can’t even read !!!
i doubt that the ungodly aclu’s site will make any difference. citizens need to start taking pictures of all those other ones !!!!!!!
